I haven't bought it, but it sounds like it's what I expected it to be.
Most software isn't that heavily optimized as it is, alot of software doesn't even take advantage of multi-core setups as it is. I think software needs to catch up to hardware.
We may not get DDR5 till 2020 if predictions are correct, that's potentially three years away if you can hold off that long before a new build. I'm pretty sure I'll be building a new rig this year with Ryzen 7.
Most tech pros have pegged a 2020 release date for DDR5 with suits me fine.
I don't think Microsoft really encourages the developers, at least they haven't this gen, but then again, the Xboxs are very western heavy (I think this hurts them in the long run when they're lacking in the volume of games and variety in their catalogue).
Aren't we getting a bit broad with the Genres now? I think we're talking about Japanese games in general rather then just JRPGs now.
The media did blast Japanese games alot last gen as well, anyone remember JRPGs need to change or die of stagnation? If anything, Japan just ramped up the number of game releases and the quality (maybe because the PS4 is popular right off the bat this gen compared to last? And less pandering to western tastes). Plus we're getting more Asia-English releases this gen which makes importing and playing them easier. And we getting more localizations too. I think because the media was so harsh ...
I would love Vanquish on PC (can we have a sequel one day?) and I'd like Bayonetta 2 at some point on pc as well.
TBF, we've had games worth buying every month since January, it's not like we haven't had anything to play, personally April is the slowest month for me (I just want P5). But it gives me a chance to buy and play something of the previous month's games. Nioh and the Last Guardian are probably the best examples of delayed games (they were originally intended to be PS3 games).
Nope, PS had a good launch and it provided the best catalogue of games, that's why they're the undisputed top dog this gen. They weren't last gen, it was a struggle since the beginning for them. WiiU tanked and the Xone had a bad launch/lack of games. Nintendo and Microsoft dropped the ball hard this gen and now they have to play catch-up.

All of my friends are playing it, but it just looks pretty meh to me.

That sounds like a nightmare to me, I don't even like Steam, I just tolerate it.
As much as I love my Vita, Sony left it for dead, I was hoping it'd get some asia english releases to make up for it, but those have kinda backed off too.
I honestly thought the game had a weak story and I didn't care for the characters, I won't be picking this up but my PS2 copy is still in pristine condition. My friend already gave me his PS3 copy of the FFX/2 remaster, so I'm good for that too.
@NiteX IKR, they almost never drop the price or go on special, there's lots of 3DS games I would like but it's hard to buy in bulk when the prices almost never decreases.

FFXV had other flaws, but you picked out it's major ones. Personally I'm worried they'd screw it up and I kinda expect them to mess it up. On the other hand Square-Enix is capable of getting it right (world of Final Fantasy).
