I actually haven't brought any remakes or remasters this gen except for Gravity Rush and it's still a pretty great gen since there's always something I want to get eventually when time and money avails. I already own more than 2 dozens games as it is.
How is the plot stilted? It's not perfect but well done, it's a vast improvement over Zesteria and I find it to be a better game than say Final Fantasy XV. Although I'll give the author her kudos about the battle system, it was too easy and simple compared to previous entries.
I thought it was a spoiler until I read the article, standard fair for this series, you could kill your starting Persona in the previous games too.
They're making all the best possible moves despite everyone saying how terrible the CPU/GPUs are (they're price is amazing when you take the price/performance ratio into account).
I was horribly unimpressed with the VR gadgets I tried (Samsung/Sony), so hopefully they'll have some killer IPs or something soon.
Actually I'll argue it's the release date that hurt it most, we had 3 big shooting games released around the same time so people had to pick and choose with what money they had at that time. So for most people I'm guessing that was one game at that period and most of those sales went to either Battlefield or COD. It wasn't fair to release Titanfall 2 at that time (it's really good for anyone who hasn't played it).
I'm actually enjoying everything the PS4 has been getting, so it's been one of the best gens for me (haven't enjoyed a gen this much since the PS2 days).
I'd like a few more years with my PS4, I really like it and the games have been pretty satisfying, I would not be interested in buying it's successor anytime soon.
@FyBy
Your on point, the majority of people on PC game at 1080p, whether they don't have the GPU or the monitor for it, I don't know. But I think 4k gaming is still a little way away from becoming the norm.
Although I think it's more an issue porting from console at pc, look at all the crappy PC ports we're getting these days. Sorry PC master race, your kinda getting shafted lately.
it's a non-issue, there isn't that much difference with generation, alot of that stuff is just not needed if you don't care about it. Just buy the consoles and the games and that's it. You get you're mid gen refreshes like your previous gen, your peripherals if you need or want them, an online service that you can take advantage of as little or as much as you like. So to tackle the main point of the article, nothing has changed (Can't say for Scorpio, we'll have to...
The problem with that is the games are never as polished as they should be if they try to fix it afterwards, doesn't matter how many patches and updates they releases.
Protag is pretty much a self-insert for yourself in these games.
I'm waiting for a big price drop on ME:A, I know it's had a few, but I had to get Persona 5 first (since it's the better of the two).
I just hope they didn't go too crazy with Scorpio's specs since it's a refresh and not a new console. They really need some new games to push with Scorpio.
@Rude-ro That post made no sense (the points your trying to make are not clear). Old games can do 4k 60+ fps because they're not as graphically intensive as newer games (the quality and detail isn't there). The PS4 Pro is not native 4k, it's an up-scale (I think most games are something like 1440p, then upscaled with the checkerboard technique). It may be able to play low-end or indie games at native 4k, but I would be surprised to see a AAA title at native 4k 60fps. As for the Sc...
I think the Xbox just needs more games in general, it doesn't have a great deal of genres or titles to choose from (Nintendo is suffering from this too, but the Switch only just got released).
I wish Playstation did this, but they were first to the table with region-free gaming.
This is what I love about consoles, reliability, you can play this generation's worth of games for this long before support is dropped and most games will have little or no glitches or set backs (I know there has been messy releases but this is a general statement). It's just less hassle, while I somewhat like the appeal of PC gaming, I have problems almost every time I buy a game for it.
Sorry but pushing 4k 60fps is a big feat, even for higher end gaming PCs, the PS4 pro manages it with some up-scaling tricks to make it look closer to 4k native. The higher end GPUs can only just manage 4k and not at what I would consider comfortably (60+ fps with details maxed out is what I consider comfy 4k). It's cost that's the killer, console gamers do not want to spend alot for consoles.
I don't really care for the remake, it could be good or it could be bad, Square-Enix is very hit and miss in recent years. If anything, Falcom is fairly consistent with the quality of their games, plus, it's probably safe to say that Trails of Cold Steel tells a better story than a modern Final Fantasy game (this is coming from someone who finds Trails of Cold Steel clunky).
