I know right, I like to keep my stuff for at least 4 or 5 years until a significant leap happens or my old stuff breaks or just isn't support anymore (can't be easily fixed without costing an arm and a leg).
I don't think there will be a significant enough leap to release a PS5 next year anyway technology-wise, even if there was, your bang on about you point regarding the costings.
Personally I'm predicting that VR will be more of a fad like 3d on TVs was, but we'll see how this pans out over the next few years. It could just as easily have a very slow start like 4k has (and it still hasn't hit the height of it's market saturation for many reasons).
@MasterCornholio
And rightfully so, Sony paid the price last gen when they released the PS3 and got the performance/price ratio wrong. Consoles always occupy the gaming on a budget sector, so the the PRO and Scorpio will never be big hardware movers.

I guess it wouldn't really matter depending on how much money you have to spend, If I could only buy one, it would be the PS4 because the exclusives becoming the deciding factor for me.
Titanfall 1 was online only, there was no story. You can safely skip it, I wish Titanfall 2 had a longer story since it only touches on alot of things and doesn't go into detail.
Titanfall 2 really did deserve better, it's a pretty fun game and I like it more than COD infinite warfare or battlefield.
I just want heavy customization options and street racing, and no mandatory online features like the last one.
I would love remasters for the PS4, just update the graphics to port it to HD (don't remake them), I don't trust Square-Enix to do remakes of games.
@theKiller
Sometimes they do well, they did a good job with World of Final Fantasy, not so much with FF15, but people fell in love with that beautiful mess.
I had high hopes for this, so I'm quite disappointed.
The Japanese are a little xenophobic, hence part of the reason why Xbox always fails over there (I suppose it's like how people in the west are a bit xenophobic towards Japanese games). Even when they do get the odd Japanese game, it still doesn't push sales for them.
Hey, this is modern day Square-Enix we're talking about, they could easily screw it up just as much as they could get it right.
I don't think it necessarily needs power but it's a give in that it'll have that in spades. But I agree that it needs the sweet spot for price and a strong diverse library of games.
I doubt most people seriously hate Scorpio, but people are confused about what it is and isn't. It fills the same niche as the PRO, it's not a massive game changer for that reason. Personally I think Microsoft made some bad decisions at the beginning of this gen but it's the lackluster games library that hurts them now. Nintendo had it the worst of the 3, it just never gained moment with the WiiU whereas Microsoft just lost steam as the generation progressed.
Finished it, was great. When do we get a new SRW.
The Caligula Effect, summon night 6 and Akiba's beat for me, I need a slower month or two to knock out the backlog since I'm buying at least one game a month.
Everyone was hating on the Xbox until Halo came out, I'm pretty sure the 360 did significantly better in it's gen than the original Xbox did.
Why does Overwatch always have an SJW issue surrounding it. Can't you just ignore the SJWs and hope they go away? What are they going to do? Boycott the game?
I upgrade my pc about every 5 years, I don't want to replace a console any earlier than that.
