I'm already struggling with hard drive space as is...
Nintendo does offer some good games though, you can't get Kirby or Mario or Metroid on any other console or PC.
@UltraNova
Nintendo has a completely different strategy to Microsoft and Sony, they never compete with those two specs-wise, they know full well that power is not everything, but they have been offering something different the last few console iterations.
@InKnight7s,
True, but I'd prefer a Switch o...
This, sometimes I can't believe what they give out, other times it's pretty awful and kind of makes me rage a little.
Most TVs aren't gaming focused so I don't think alot of these features will be implemented for games, gaming monitors will most likely get the majority of the benefits listed in the HDMI 2.1 spec.
@343_Guilty_Spark
Did you read the article? It may not state everything but here is the important part:
"Among the innovations that HDMI 2.1 brings with it, among other things, the fact that the data rate has been significantly increased. If the data bandwidth for HDMI 2.0 is still 18 Gbit / s, it should be at HDMI 2.1 at 48 Gbit / s. In addition, resolutions of 7.680 x 4.320 (8K) can be output at 60 Hertz or 3.840 x 2.160 pixels (4K) at 120 Hertz.&q...
After looking over the comments, I realize this thread actually get derailed very quickly.
@SIMOIKIE,
That would be kinda pointless since there would be less incentive to buy any of them over another, since everyone could just buy the same thing e.g. a PC.
I may be wrong, but I believe you may have interpreted his comment wrong. I think he meant it more like, "competition and difference are a good thing and you should be happy it exists". The fact that all three consoles can be different and offer different things is what's most ...
Will TVs benefit or even get all those features though? Most TVs use tricks to get "faster" refresh rates, I wouldn't be surprised to see the remainder of those features though.
Personally I place less value on multi-player only focused games unless they have couch multi-player like golden eye and older COD games and most games this gen don't have couch multi-player. As for online, I generally only invest if the game has a premise I really like, like Titanfall 2, because I really like robots (I wish the Titans would last a little longer in battle).
To be fair, most people cannot look at things objectively, especially their favorite games (feelings and personal investments often get in the way). I'll admit I have my guilty pleasures that don't appeal to the masses but most people have a heavy preference for one or two genres.
@D3TH_D33LR
I'm skeptical but I'm waiting for the reviews before I purchase so I can work out if I'll even like the game, or I'll play it at one of my fr...
Sometimes, I think most people set pretty low standards, I like the idea of Destiny but the original had a lot of failing I won't tolerate despite the fact I did want to play it with my friends. I can name alot of other games that didn't live up to expectations, but some of them ended up being critically acclaimed or popular anyway.
I really wanted Destiny 2 to be better since I know alot of friends will be buying it, but from what I'm seeing so far, it looks like it'll be about the same. Well, we'll know for sure in a few days.
I wouldn't want to move on from this gen yet, we haven't had a console gen this good since the PS2 days, not that that matters if you game mostly on PC.
@Allsystemgamer,
Even now, I'm still impressed with how good Horizon Dawn and Uncharted look, sometimes i find it hard to believe it runs on PS4.
Even though I think the XoneX arrived too late into this gen, I'd argue you should concern yourself with getting a 4K tv first if you want the best experience, I only just got one, but I don't think buying a PRO or XoneX is worth when they both struggle with native 4k and I already own a vanilla version of said console, I'd rather wait for next gen for a better 4k experience if it does happen.
^ This, the CPU doesn't even factor in that much, especially when we get past 1080p and head for 4k, as the resolution goes up, the GPU matters more. The CPU will only give 4 or 5 frames difference and that's being overly optimistic. Look at the Ryzen 7 and i7 comparisons, makes a difference of about 5 FPS in most titles give or take depending on the game.
I would really like to have Halo, Gears and Sunset Overdrive, but I can't justify buying an Xbox for just those three titles (and I can get most of Halo/Gears on PC, I'm hoping the rest of the games in those series will come to PC as well).
I ended up buying most of the Playstation exclusives personally.
@Moldybread,
That was a really weak argument, you were better off saying nothing.
I like how people get angry about the multi-plats argument, no one in their right mind factors that in because you can play them on any console. You want to play it with the best possible experience? Get a PC, want to play it as cheaply as possible? Get a PS4, the only console you can gloss over if you worry about multi-plats is Nintendo since they don't get the majority of multi-plats. And we know power isn't everything, the baseline PS4/Xone are almost the same, it's barely wort...
"How many here are talking about Cuphead? How many on here are talking about Sea of Thieves? How many on here are talking about State of Decay 2? How many people here talk about how good Forza 7 looks?"
I actually don't really hear many people talk about any of those tbh, in real life most people end up discussing a multi-plat or a PS exclusive, I'd like to talk more about Switch games, but it just ends up being Zelda when I come across someone that owns o...
Did you stop to think maybe there are some people who genuinely want this game? At least people have a wide variety of games to choose from and enjoy.
