Isn't the monetisation of The First Descendant very predatory? The game looks okay, but according to one of my friends, they really try to encourage you to spend big.
There's no shortage of multiplayer games they could revive, or even turn something they already had into a decent multiplayer experience. I hate to think, that we're probably going to go through several more of these failures before anything changes.
I don't know how they can have so much confidence in this product, especially a new, unestablished game, they didn't just dip their toes in and felt out the reception or if there was a big enough fan base, they dived in regardless.
At this point, I think they'll lose money on this game, and all the marketing and merchandising.
DEI/ESG designs/money/push, I honestly can't latch onto any of these designs, nor can I really remember any of them, they could have done so much better. I think this is one of the main reasons it's going to fail, apart from the below average game play and highly competitive genre.
@Cacabunga,
Idk if that was sarcasm, but doesn't Playstation still have more than a few gaas games in development? I wish they're re-focus on single player experiences, some AA games that are a bit more unique or risky would be welcome too.
I honestly don't see Concord lasting very long, it had low interest from the start, and people weren't happy with the game play after trying the game. I don't think they can make the extensive changes necess...
It really doesn't look/feel like eight years of effort and development, especially in a tight market like the "hero arena shooter" segment.
One could say that this is probably Suicide Squad 2.0, I don't think anyone is hyped for Concord at this point.
I'm personally not happy that Sony shut down some of those studios, Playstation really lost some of its personality and uniqueness after doing that.
I'd take Gears or Halo, especially on PC (most Gears games aren't on PC and Halo 5 is also missing).
They're not going to put Gamepass on PS, Playstation would have to willingly cannibalise their own service for that to happen, plus, it'll cannibalise some of Playstation's video game sales, they're not going to sacrifice all that money just because.
Yeah, probably shouldn't have spent that $100b, it was like taking a sugar hit, and they're now coming off the high, finally realising that they need to make a return on that investment. It reeks of desperation to me, especially with the speed at which these games are being ported to PS.
I really hope no one actually has that hot take, considering Steam has more or less eliminated the majority of PC pirating.
Guess I'll try the demo then, I couldn't before as I don't own a PS5.
I'm a leftie, but do not claim the extreme left as one of my own.
The amount of mental gymnastics journalists would have to go through to try and insert ESG/DEI issues into a game about Chinese mythology is mind-boggling to me. I'm just thrilled to have a game with Chinese mythology since you don't see such a thing very come over to the west very often (we often get Wuxia or Cultivation media).
@Profchaos,
Ouch, only 4 or 5 good years? Me and my 7-year-old 1080ti still gaming at 1440p and managing 90fps in a lot of games... In that 7 years, the only thing I upgraded was the RAM (I wanted more, didn't really need it), and my CPU because I was still using a Ryzen 1700. I think good PC parts can easily last as long as a console generation or more, my GPU trades blows with a PS5 if we ignore ray tracing, even a 3060 is, technically, still more powerful than a PS5, and a PS5...
Some of these issues can be solved by just being more choosy with the game you purchase/play, although, I will admit that I'm becoming more attracted to simpler games because I can learn them and master them faster than other games.
Fighting a lack of sleep is one of my bigger issues, especially when I do shift work, I just pass out on the couch, or fall asleep in my computer chair.
@blackblades,
Basically, once you get to a certain level, it just doesn't matter anymore, as long as you have enough space for all the friends you interact with. Personally I went for profile showcases, but I've maxed those out too, so I literally have no incentive to increase my level any further.
It's honestly not that hard to outperform a PS5, we've had hardware that matches the PS5 before it even released, what you can buy today easily blows it out of the water.
While it's nice to look at the differences, I'm more interested in how well it runs and is optimised for PC since that's the version i'll eventually buy.
