Definitely, an understanding of game mechanics, critical thinking and a little about psychology would be some of the things I'd look for if I was hiring people for game development. There's alot of skills that would be useful. It reminds me of developer diaries where they talk about how they try to influence the player to do certain things or play a certain way. E.g. I believe Naughty Dog tried improving AI enimies so it would flank them but even with visual cues, players got too frus...
Nintendo aren't idiots, if anything they like to experiment more, especially with hardware, which I think tends to have either wild payoffs or they crash and burn horribly if it doesn't turn out mediocre. At least their games are consistently good.
Most people are not that bright, or they just interpret it in a way that suits them, I thought the message was pretty obvious even if it wasn't communicated in a more clear and concise way.
No, they're probably looking to create something unique or outside the box, Nintendo does like to experiment a bit more than the other two.
So basically do/expect the opposite of what they say/do? They should get into their line of work, it would be easy money and I don't even have to be right or competent.
With how long they've been touting unannounced games, they won't show up until we get close to the end of the gen, if ever.
At best, if new games are in development, I don't think we'll see much from Microsoft till almost the end of the gen when everyone is almost ready to start shifting to new consoles.
I don't think Sea of Thieves will become a big hit series for Microsoft, but it's far from being in the state No Man's Sky was.
A 480/580 is not a 4k card, it's an entry level 1440p card, so it's no surprise that the XoneX would struggle with 4k 30fps. Not that it would look horrible or anything since it's upscaling a higher resolution to 4k in alot of games, to maintain 4k 30fps it'd have to lower some settings (probably doesn't apply to 360 games). I don't think next gen consoles will be native 4k/30fps either but something inbetween that upscales to 4k.
@BatofWar,
I thought it was the second part of the game for me since it tread the same ground from a different viewpoint for most of that route.
It's a really weird list considering Nier and HZD were great games, I agree that Mass Effect Andromeda should have taken one of those spots. I'd even argue that you could put Prey there possibly when in keep in mind how many people were disappointed with it.
Unlikely, console gamers are price sensitive than pc gamers. We have seen this with the ps3 and the xbox one.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks that Sony would cut their profits and drop the PS4 for the PS5 just to start all over again.
With PS4 killing it this gen, especially with both software and hardware sales, I can see Sony hanging onto this gen or even dragging it out as long as possible. Not that that bothers me since I've been happy with how many games they've given me to choose from.
I feel like this gen has been pretty reasonable, but then again, I've had so many games to play this gen, a delay here and there hasn't bothered me as much.
Given the time frame and the fact that we've had a few worthwhile advancements, CPU/GPU-wise, the prices should come down enough to give us a worthwhile jump in power without much of a price difference. Personally I don't think we'll quite hit 4k as standard, but probably something just short of that (maybe 1440p).
@SirBradders,
I imagine the PS4 will be easier to emulate than the PS3/2/1 ect... It would be a wonder feature to have, especially since the PS4 has such a great library already.
I thought it was a timed exclusive...
PUBG just took off for some reason, it'll fall out of popularity eventually.
Is this a joke article? Sony's game library and marketing is enough to take care of the "challenge presented by the XoneX", even now, I still think the PRO is a better buy when it comes to the price/performance ratio. As far as I see it, the XoneX is a reaction to the PS4's success, the PS4/PRO will still sell better because it's cheaper and has a much better games library, this year was abysmal for Microsoft software-wise and next year isn't looking particularly bri...
