I have to agree wholeheartedly, I think Cliffy B. was a big factor in the game's lack of success, I remember many people here saying they wouldn't buy the game because he was at the helm. The other problem is the gameplay, from what I've see in Youtube videos, it seems to be a blander, somewhat flawed version of Overwatch.
Pretty sure PUBG was popular before Lawbreakers was released, not only that, Law Breakers compete with games like Overwatch moreso than PUBG's audience.
I really wanted to see Dead Space come to a satisfying close, now we'll never know.
Couldn't agree more, it's one of the few genres where I prefer there to be no storyline, I do love having lots of customization though. A street racing game with lots of car customization would be a wet dream for me.
I would like me one of them High Steaks man...
Road Rash/redemption got a sequel though, I want another Ridge Racer but that series is dead as a door nail.
As soon as I saw the trailer for Need For Speed I knew I wasn't going to buy it, I just knew right off the bat it wasn't going to be what I wanted in a Need For Speed game.
Half of the games out there don't even do a good open world, open world is nice when it's done well but it gets boring or overwhelming when it's done badly.
You can go pretty much anywhere as soon as you start the game in Horizon Zero Dawn, you can continue the story any time you feel like it or go off on a tangent and do other stuff like side quests or cauldrons or whatever.
Linear games are so good when they do good stories or characters, I often find open worlds don't tend to have tight stories or well-written characters, or they have massive empty spaces and fill it with nothing or just give you the same boring fetch quests.
@UltraNova,
Defiantly get Evil Within 2, it's a top tier horror survival game and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I'm not big on open worlds, but we have had some good ones lately, BoTW, HZD, Witcher 3, but we've also had some that were mediocre or just bad, e.g. FFXV, MGS5, No Man's Sky. Almost all of the favorite games were more linear and I do really miss them (I really enjoyed the Evil Within 2, I scavenged every little scrap of ammo, materials and power ups I could find). We need more balance rather go all out on open worlds or have a billion shooters like we did last gen.
I hope I can enjoy as much as the games on the PSP, they were really fun and a fanboy's wet dream, I get the feeling the PS4 Dissidia won't be as good but I have my fingers crossed for a pleasant surprise.
It doesn't put Micosoft in a negative light, but the article should ask "how can Microsoft reclaim some of Sony's gaming pie".
@chiefJohn117,
I find it strange no one asked for more exclusives, that's been the biggest difference between the PS4 and the Xbox this entire gen. I still wish Sony would allow BC for the PS4 though.
I get the feeling Microsoft just hasn't bothered to try this gen, I think as long as they're making bank, they don't care what Sony or Nintendo do. It's all income to them anyway, although you'd think they'd try to take as much of the gaming pie as they can to increase their profits.
I really think the the Xone is overpowered, there's such a big gap between the vanilla consoles and the PRO just to barely manage 4k. Is it really worth all the extra money for just a little bit more graphically fidelity when the PRO gets similar results for less money. 4k is only starting to trickle down to the average consumer but I still think it's a premium experience at premium prices.
The PRO is the answer to the XoneX, if anything the XoneX was a reaction to the PRO, or rather Microsoft's attempt to one up them, which they did performance-wise. The Switch just further Solidifies the fact that console gamers are price sensitive, we say this last gen with the Wii/PS3/360 and again with the Xone Vs PS4. Microsoft just can't seem to get it right this gen, even Nintendo is finally making the right moves after their initial failure with the WiiU.
With the way people talk, everyone must have the money for a $600+ console and a $2000 TV lying around. Everyone will disagree with me but I don't think native 4k will be standard next gen, I'm sure we'll get something in between upscaled to 4k.
I always look at Sony as having a bigger games library then Microsoft because it has exclusives as well, whereas Microsoft just has mostly multiplats that you can play anywhere.
I think the game was just to bland, or simple, it needed more to standout from the crowd.
