i have become desensitized to Achievements/Trophies. i'll get a Platinum Trophy if i'm over 70% there from just playing the game normally (as was the case with Uncharted, inFAMOUS, and now Uncharted 2) or if by gaining Trophies, i get points to use to buy upgrades/cheats (as in Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, and Resistance 2).

but after playing a game every day, for 8-12 hours a day, forced to create a new profile every time we got a new build (because we couldn't use the same save fi...

if the sales were low, could you run out and buy 500,000 copies of the game to boost it's numbers so you'll get a sequel?

and good sales don't always dictate the chances of a series continuing.

Heavenly Sword, for example, went on to sell about 1 million units. not bad, but there won't be a sequel. why? because the game was unfairly trashed by the gaming media, and it tarnished the series rep.

and yet 50 Cent managed to get a sh*tty sequel for his sh*tty...

secondly, Sarcasm is qualified to make those statements because:

1) He has a brain.

2) He's free to express any opinion he pleases.

besides, it's been 4 years since the Xbox 360 released, and we've yet to see an Xbox 360 game match Uncharted 1, let alone Uncharted 2. and that's the truth. no amount of Unreal Engine 3 trickery will result in what the Uncharted series has managed.

why?

a few reasons.

1) The Playstatio...

when you have guys like these representing them so well.

i may have my issues with Microsoft and the decisions they've made with the 360, and i have tons of issues with the gaming media this generation, but the OXCGN guys have always been fair, real gamers, who don't let their preference for Xbox get in the way of their LOVE for good video games.

i don't put stock in reviews these days, but i've found the "Official" reviewers (for both Xbox 360 and Playstat...

last generation, developers didn't have a problem with putting extra effort into the Xbox versions of games, showing off how powerful it was compared to the PS2 (and you can't deny that games like Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil, and other multi-plats looked better on the Xbox).

but this generation, suddenly everybody wants to be fair, when the PS3 has CLEAR advantages over the 360 that can be utilized (ie, the built in HDD, and the extra space afforded by Blu Ray; 25-50gi...

and to garo, i know what you mean. i wish i could be an Uncharted 2 virgin all the time.

i've already played through it twice, and am playing through my Crushing run now, but it hasn't been any less enjoyable, and i find myself noticing the little details, or hearing lines of dialog/banter that i missed the first time around.

i think they get the shaft from the gaming media who continually downplay the quality of their games.

they downplay how awesome a game like Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is because it's "like the previous Ratchet and Clanks," as if that's a bad thing.

they downplay how awesome Resistance and Resistance 2 are because they "don't look like Gears of War," even though Resistance 2 in particular REALLY pushed co-op and MP in some genui...

the HDD less 360 was all they needed to experience the full 360 package?

i only have a 20gig HDD in my 360, because i refuse to pay as much as they're asking for a larger one.

my PS3 still has the 60 gig it came with, but i'm thinking of upgrading to a 320gig, since i saw one for like, $50 on newegg.com.

i've beaten the game twice, am on my 3rd playthrough on Crushing, and haven't had it freeze on me once.

on the flip side, my wife has been playing the Fallout 3 DLC, and it's been freezing every 10 minutes.

we uninstalled it, then re-installed it, and it seems to be fairing much better, but it still freezes, though much less.

i love Uncharted 2, but i forced myself to take a break from it to put in some hours on Demon's Souls.

even though i ...

i bought it, played it, beat it, loved it, but to people calling it a masterpiece? hardly.

San Andreas was a masterpiece. it took everything that GTAIII and Vice City established and expanded upon it:

larger area to explore (THREE CITIES!!)
"RPG elements" (boosting stats, character customization, etc)
better controls (aiming and shooting was much smoother)
TONS of side missions and extras to do outside of the story missions. hell, just dri...

great guys. and their studio is AWESOME.

it was such a friendly environment.

unfortunately, i didn't get the job! lol.

ah well, judging how Uncharted 2 came out, i don't think they needed my help! lol

but that's not going to stop me from picking this up.

this is, i'd say, the definitive version of God of War 1 and God of War 2, so why WOULDN'T i pick it up?

$40 is a steal also.

my only problem is trying to get the cash to get it. i'm still trying to figure out how to get the cash for Ratchet and Clank Future at the end of the month.

my gaming budget is SEVERELY limited since me and my wife are looking for a new place before years end.

so many games can fall under the "well, it's not perfect, so it doesn't deserve a 10/10 score," but that's a cop out.

oh yeah, the above comment wasn't intended for this review, because i get the joke and i think it's funny to award the game a 99.999+ score. it's almost like it's making fun of the sites too afraid to give it a perfect 10/10, 100/100 score, because of my above comment.

to try and spin it into a bad thing.

a few key things about his comment:

1) "First Year" - games are so raw and incomplete during the first year of development that this lack of direction doesn't surprise me.

it's not like they had cole and a city up and running. first year includes defining the budget, hiring the art directors, programmers, concept artists, etc.

it is the "drafting stage" of game development. nothing is ...

well and truly milked?

Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch have shown great diversity in game development, even when keeping consistent with their own particular quirks (Insomniac has a penchant for unique weapons, Naughty Dog has a penchant for very character driven games, and Sucker Punch has a penchant for smooth, responsive controls and vivid worlds/characters).

Sony has very few long-running franchises. Ratchet is the longest running one, with 6 main entrie...

um, Nathan is severely wounded, he is climbing slowly and sluggishly by design. even when you finally get to solid ground and start moving around, he is stumbling and shuffling very slowly. he can't even run.

my wife has been playing the DLC, and it's been crashing the PS3 almost every 10 minutes or so.

in particular Operation: Anchorage.

The Pitt crashed, but not nearly as often.

so far, the best performing one has been Point Lookout, although yesterday, it froze on her a few times.

Operation Anchorage is by far the worst.

Bethesda seriously needs to get on the ball with their games. this isn't just exclusive to the PS3, but ALL of ...
