Demon's Souls
Uncharted 2
and just recently, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

i'm sorry, Borderlands, but you aren't a $60 buy for me. not to mention Dragon Age: Origins hits next week, and i have a gift card from Best Buy i'll use on it.

i'm an Action/Adventure game and RPG fan, and even though Borderlands certainly has those elements, i'm burned out on the whole FPS thing for now, and Dragon Age looks to be more interesting (and my wife is inte...

i mean, seriously. it's not like the PS3 doesn't have an HDD. when i feel like i'm running low on HD space, i delete the installs of the few games i have that i'm not playing at the moment (ie, Fallout 3, Oblivion, etc).

i haven't even upgraded my HDD yet (still rocking my original 60gig HDD). one day i will, i guess. but it certainly hasn't impaired my ability to enjoy all the games that have come out that have featured installs.

yes, overhype sucks, but who's the fool? the fool, or the fool who follows him?

while i certainly think there are games this generation that have received an obscene amount of hype (ie, Halo 3, GTAIV, Gears 2, etc), i certainly don't hold it against them when they don't meet up to that hype.

i tend to go into games with rather tempered expectations. don't get me wrong, i froth at the mouth and can't wait to get my hands on it, but i don't think it's going to be the &...

people supposedly bought for GAMES, they are certainly making a big stink about MOVIES and other non-gaming applications.

like the 360 was built for LIVE, the Playstation 3 was built to be a multi-media hub, and it does Games, Music, Movies, Photos, etc EXTREMELY well. it's encoded into the Playstation brand's DNA.

the PS1 was multi-media: Games and Music CDs.
the PS2 was multi-media: Games, Music CDs, and DVDs.
the PS3 is multi-media: Games, Music CDs, D...

i remember Timespliters (from now pariah Free Radical), was expressly touted as being the first PS2 game to run at a locked 30FPS, and it was a great game. smooth as silk.

NOW, however, 30FPS just isn't good enough. i personally don't see why not.

the human eye can't really tell the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS, despite what the elitist tools at Neogaf say, so if Insomniac feels a better use of their time would be optimizing a 30FPS engine so they can crank out...

it's 2009, and the Playstation 3 has had one of the most impressive turnarounds of ANY console released.

it went from people standing outside the gates of Sony with torches and pitchforks, to people clamoring about how Uncharted 2 is GOTY 2009 in a year when a new Halo and COD released, to name only a few of the games releasing this year.

people are now disappointed with MS and Nintendo and their anemic software lineup, while admiring Sony's.

the moment...

my wife stopped playing Fallout 3 alltogether because ever since we bought the DLC (PS3 version), the game has been crashing every 10 minutes.

we deleted the DLC and re-installed it, and it fixed it for a bit, but it still crashed regularly (though not every 10 minutes).

not to mention the fact that some quests are bugged and cannot be completed (there's one quest in the Pitt where an NPC's body doesn't appear, so she can't collect the letter he has on his body so sh...

it's suddenly, "OMG, this is STOOPID! it doesn't matter!" but when the 360 is "better," it's "SEE? THIS is why i buy the 360 version of EVERY multi-plat!"

the truth is, it has NEVER mattered for the past two years. since 2008, the differences between multi-plats on the PS3 and 360 has been negligible.

you have to literally start counting pixels (a pathetic practice if you ask me), to see the differences.

if you can't see the...

putting ALL gamers in the same box as non-gamers view us: that we are all blood-thirsty, social degenerates that only respond to games that are full of intense violence, sex, and drugs.

i LOVE GTA. i LOVE MGS, and other M-Rated games. But i also LOVE Ratchet and Clank, Flower, even Animal Crossing. games that are generally categorized as "kiddy" games.

Warren Spector is making an error in generalizing all gamers.

believe me, there would be an a...

Microsoft needs to step up their software game. that is FACT.

as a PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, i want good games on both. so far, i've bought Shadow Complex this year on the 360. i'm not a Halo fan, so Halo 3: ODST does nothing for me. i'm not a big racing fan, so Forza 3 does nothing for me. what ELSE has the 360 released this year that's been worth a pick up? Star Ocean? that series hasn't been good since the PS1 days. Ninja Blade? no thank you.

as for the PS3, it's s...

variety of games sell consoles.

reliability and affordability sell consoles.

Sony has all 3. MS has one (affordability)

where are the games, Microsoft?

if you aren't a Halo or Forza fan, you pretty much have no incentive to buy a 360. and if you ARE a Halo or Forza fan, then chances are you already bought a 360 YEARS AGO when Halo 3 and Forza 2 came out.

sequels don't tend to sell consoles like new IPs do.

i'm actually playing Deadlocked right now, and i really like it. sure it's different from the other Ratchets, but it's still good.

what i find amusing, and yet irritating is that gamers are constantly crying for the status quo of their favorite game to be shaken up, and then when the developer does it, they b*tch and moan and complain about how the shake up makes the game "not feel like XXX." it's ludicrous.

i have to give Insomniac credit, as they are the ...

they bash Resistance? a game by INSOMNIAC, one of the hardest working, talented developers in the industry.

FACT: Resistance: Fall of Man was a GREAT launch title. and even to this day, it is still a unique, quality FPS in the face of so many "me too" war FPS titles. the alternate history setting and unique weapons give it it's identity.

FACT: Resistance 2 was a GREAT sequel. it expanded on the original premise by making the visuals better, the controls tig...

Mario Bros. video games, i can say i don't think there are too many Ratchet and Clank games.

Quest for Booty was more of a diversion/experiment than a full Ratchet game, so i believe there has been a 2 year gap between the last Ratchet and the new one.

having spent earlier this summer playing through Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal, and Deadlocked (still playing through Deadlocked, since i took a break to tackle the Sly Cooper games when inFAMOUS came out), and i hav...

instead of Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT. they'll be getting it on Monday, but dammit, i was hoping to have it this weekend, so i can have my review out by next week. ah well. can't wait!

maybe i'll play Deadlocked, since that's the only one i haven't beaten yet (Up Your Arsenal so far, is my favorite R&C, then Tools of Destruction).

way to lose ALL of your credibility in one fell swoop.

i may have a gaming blog myself, but even i know this misquoting tactic is just bad for establishing any kind of rapport with your intended audience.

i tend to avoid console war articles on my site, and try and report on the things in the industry that have my interest, and share them with other gamers. i'm only one guy, so i can't cover the entire industry, but it's my little piece of the internet where i can ta...

months ago talking about how Resistance is the Underdog RPG franchise.

it's pretty much saying the same thing; that Resistance gets no credit for what it does right, and what it brings to the FPS table.

people are so quick to label Resistance as "generic," but, if it is, then please point me to the OTHER FPS that has weapons that can shoot buzz blades that richochet off of walls, a pistol that fires a secondary round that lodges into enemies and can then be...

between graphics and art design.

Resistance 2 is visually distinct from other FPS titles released at the time.

i'm referring to art design. style. art direction. it is distinct.

as for the graphics; i started playing it again earlier this week, and i think the visuals are very good, especially in HD. no, it's obvious they don't match Killzone 2, but to call them ugly is to ignore MANY FPS games released around the same time and AFTER, that featured terri...

i thought the story was more interesting than the first.
i thought the focus on Hale was a good choice.
i didn't miss the weapon wheel, nor was i ecstatic about the 2 weapon system.
i loved the single player campaign. i thought it was more engaging than the first, with more varied setpieces.
i loved the visual style. it was very different from the first, which, if i recall, got lambasted for being too "WWII like." i thought Resistance 2 was distinct visually ...
