then we need ALL genres to flourish.

if single player gaming magically ceased to exist, it would cut down the install base of gamers significantly.

personally, i'd probably stop gaming. i'm a 90/10 single player gamer. i'll play multi-player when it's fun (ie, Warhawk, Resistance 2, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, etc), but i buy the games for the single player experience.

Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, MGS, inFAMOUS, Killzone 2,...

for my reviews on my site.

MY 7/10 for a game will be VERY different from someone else's 7/10 for a game.

hell, there are games that scored 7/10 that i'd have personally scored 9/10 because i enjoyed them so much (ie, Heavenly Sword or Folklore).

at the end of the day, my reviews are only a suggestion. i will recommend a "Buy" "Rent" or "Pass" depending on a few things.

Buy recommendation criteria: This game exc...

i love Resistance 2. i thought the single player was great (i found all the intel documents which really did fill in the story and backgrounds on the main characters, and it was all really interesting), well paced, and ended with a rather epic cliffhanger that i didn't feel cheated out of (the game felt complete, and not like they chopped off the ending just to plug part 3).

i loved the 8 player co-op, and really thought it was a nice change of pace from the usual "lets play...

it requires you to quit out of the game and return to the XMB at the moment of death (before your character falls to the ground and dies).

the game autosaves quite frequently, and if you quit out (quickly), then reload the game, it will autoload you at the last checkpoint it saved at.

i found this out quite by accident after getting spanked by a hard boss and in frustration, just shutting off my system. it was like 5 in the morning, after a damn near 5 hour play sess...

while playing:

if you are killed by an enemy, if you quit out of the game (via the XMB) before you fall to the ground and die, when you restart the game, you will load into the last spot you reached a checkpoint.

i did this accidentally when i was pissed that a boss killed me in two hits at the start of the battle, losing me 50,000 souls, and i just quit the game for the night (it was after a 4 hour marathon session, so i was beat anyway; it was like 5 in the morning...

and believe it or not, the subject matter intrigues me. unfortunately, i just can't buy it right now, because Uncharted 2 and Ratchet Future 2 (or is it technically 3 if you count Quest for Booty?) make up the remainder of my October game budget (and possibly my game budget for the rest of the year).

reviews are just people's opinions.

i happened to love Heavenly Sword and Folklore, which reviewers weren't too kind to back in 2007.

Afrika clearly isn't ...

half the cost of the console. it's a harder sell that way.

can you imagine if the PS Motion controller costs $150? more than likely, it will retail for $50.

the 360 is $199. Natal should cost no more than $99.

but it's MS, and overcharging for their peripherals have been their schtick this entire gen thus far. i don't see them changing now. i mean, the 360 fanbase has bought the overpriced add ons, so why not?

in the end, Natal is not vital ...

the proof is in the pudding.

the PS3 launched in 2006. the software was average (with one notable exception: Resistance: Fall of Man).

2007 was better than 2006 in terms of software and services.

2008 was better than 2007 in terms of software and services.

2009 was better than 2008 in terms of software and services.

and it's looking like 2010 will be better than 2009 in terms of software and services.

so, yeah, i do...

then i can't think of any more proof that this generation is filled with spoiled entitlement whores who think of nothing but themselves.

my god, what kind of generation are we RAISING?

me and my wife have been thinking long and hard about how we'll raise our kids (when we have them), but i know one thing; i'm going to raise them not to be selfish pricks and understand that no, you can't have everything your way just because you throw a tantrum.

this is a...

loved all 3; KOTOR, Ninja Gaiden Black, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros. Melee, Eternal Darkness, and all the PS2 greats like Ratchet, Jak, Sly, GoW 1 and 2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS2 and 3, etc, etc.

so many amazing games last generation, and this generation is offering the same.

great developers make great games, regardless of the platform they are working on.

if Naughty Dog was making Uncharted on the 360, it may not be the same exact game we have...

to bundle it with the Playstation Motion controller? they've already said it will be motion controller compatible.

there could be 3 flavors:

1) EyePet with Playstation Eye
2) EyePet with Motion Controller
3) EyePet stand alone

makes sense to me.

it would be a fully fleshed out application to launch with the motion controller, instead of the usual sports type mini-game collections you normally see.

it may suck to lose...

so can we call the PS3 the PSTriple A now?

i mean, this year alone has been FANTASTIC in terms of "AAA" software (i personally hate the term "AAA" because i certainly have found enjoyment in a good "BBB" "B" and "C" game), from Killzone 2, to Fat Princess, to inFAMOUS and Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2. Ratchet 2 will be AAA also (Tools of Destruction was, so why not this one).

it's been a great, diverse year of gaming...

have to REDIRECT REDIRECT REDIRECT.

the PS3 has shut them up rather impressively, and the PSP Go is the only thing they can attack. they certainly can't attack the PS1 and PS2.

it's really rather pathetic, honestly.

these people aren't gamers in any way, shape, or form, and yet they've managed to fool many into thinking they are. these tools don't like video games. they like brands, marketing, and PR fluff. if someone doesn't point and tell them what to ...

even at Sony's E3 presentation, Kaz Hirai said it wasn't a replacement, and that the PSP 3000 wasn't going anywhere.

this is the sh*t that passes for games "journalism" these days?

no one is forcing a single existing PSP owner to go out and buy the PSP Go.

it was pitched as a download only device for those gamers out there that wanted a download only device.

i own a PSP already. do i own a PSP Go? no. i don't need or want one at th...

MGS 4 was a "game changer."
Little Big Planet was a "game changer."
Killzone 2 was a "game changer."
now Uncharted 2.

how many awesomely epic games does the PS3 need before the internet and the menagerie of analysts get their heads out of their asses and realize that

A) Gamers just want good games. they have been getting them consistently on the PS3 since 2007.

B) Only Sony cares about how they're doing sa...

the view that it's been the year of the PS3 since 2007 is MY PERSONAL OPINION.

it wasn't a game listings post. i was listing games on both systems that i was personally interested in, purchased, and enjoyed.

is it my fault that i've enjoyed a large amount of exclusives the PS3 has offered? underappreciated games like Heavenly Sword and Folklore are some truly fun, enjoyable games.

notice i didn't list Lair and Haze, or Too Human, Gears, or Halo. why? bec...

it's been the "year of the PS3" since 2007. it all boils down to the games, and for the past 3 years, the PS3 has been giving me a LOT of games.

2007 was Year of the PS3 because i got to play

Resistance
Virtua Fighter 5
Motorstorm
Warhawk
Heavenly Sword
Folklore
Ratchet and Clank Future
Uncharted

on the 360, i played Bioshock and Mass Effect as those were the only 360 games i was interested in. so, yeah...

BUT, a LOT of you are glossing over some very important facts:

1) A lot of people prefer to have a physical copy of games. if i could burn all those downloadable games i bought on the PSN onto a disc, i'd be a happy camper. why? because when my PS3 died, i almost couldn't PLAY the games i bought on my new PS3 because my PSN ID had been activated on 5 PS3's. i had to call Sony to have them fix it. i couldn't even watch a movie i rented off the network until i did.

2) ...
