is ripping off a game that is vaporware?

tell me, author of this article, when you were playing 8 Days, did it have the same level of characterization, control, atmosphere, gameplay as the Uncharted series?

what's that, you say? you NEVER played those games because they only exist in tech demo video form? NO!

*rolls eyes*

Uncharted is Uncharted. anyone that has watched the various behind the scenes videos in BOTH Uncharted games knows that t...

it's "OMG ANOTHER FANTASTIC FPS!"

but when Resistance, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2 hit the PS3, it was "OMG, ANOTHER SHOOTER?? I'M TIRED OF FPS!"

i'm most certainly not saying Modern Warfare 2 isn't good; i have no idea, i haven't played it, but judging from the first game, i'm expecting it to be just as good, if not better.

i just find it kind of funny that multi-platform FPS titles and Halo get quite a bit of praise and passes, but...

i got my Platinum Trophy, so i never ran into this Challenge Mode bug while playing. it must be rare, but still prevalent enough to warrant a patch.

i love this game. i'm taking a break from it (i'm about to finish up my last few Trophies for Uncharted 2 so i can get the Platinum in that, as well as playing Dragon Age: Origins, which is VERY enjoyable).

the place was FILLED with 360 and Nintendo fanboys.

most of the articles were bashing and hating on the PS3, and as a Playstation 3 fan, you couldn't have a single conversation without it devolving into a hate fest on why the PS3 was crap, had no games, had terrible online, that Blu Ray was going to fail like Sony's other formats, how the PS3 was too expensive, how arrogant Sony was, and how stupid Playstation 3 fans were for "drinking the Sony koolaid."

and i LOVE Resistance 2, but i understand what CoD4 contributed to the console FPS, and it most certainly set a new bar for it (Perks, etc).

i think Resistance 2 took that concept and ran with it, as did Killzone 2.

it's like Halo. i'm not a fan since part one, but i understand that it DID set the path of console FPS games for years until CoD4 came and took it to another level.

i personally think Killzone 2 is the best console FPS this generation, not be...

the most influential developer this generation in the console multi-player FPS genre, as what they did with CoD4 really set the standard for console FPS multi-player.

but when it comes to the best developer this generation, i'd have to go with Insomniac. i know, Naughty Dog is the easy choice, because Uncharted 2 is a phenomenal title, the best this generation, but for me, Insomniac has been consistently delivering top notch games with excellent gameplay for the past 4 years in a...

and favorer of Microsoft consoles, has spewed the level of vitriol towards the PS3 as Valve has.

i hold John Carmack's opinion WAAAAAAY over Valve's opinion of the PS3. why? because Id and Carmack are actually DEVELOPING a game on the Playstation 3, and have at least given the rather complex architecture a spin.

i could understand Valve saying they'd prefer to develop for the PC and 360 because it's what they know, but why the hate towards the PS3? how is that provin...

releasing it on the 360 is because the 360 audience doesn't really seem to be all that into single player RPGs, or RPGs in general.

there are certainly a few exceptions, but most RPGs don't do so well on the 360 in comparison to online enabled shooters.

i'm looking forward to 3D Dot Game Heroes, because it tickles the 8 year old inside of me that remembers playing Zelda on the NES way back in the day.

if it comes to the 360, i just hope the 360 audience ...

but the improvement is quite noticeable.

the AA REALLY helps the visual presentation of the game.

it was hard to grasp the real differences between the two (i have a BC PS3, and even being upscaled, the PS2 versions of God of War 1 and 2 look GREAT), but seeing them side by side really sells me on the collection (which i was going to buy anyway).

i'd love to see the same treatment done to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. ...

but i was trying to keep my post trim.

tell me, if storage capacity wasn't important to texture quality, then why don't we store the entirety of Uncharted 2's graphics library on a floppy disc?

there's more to visuals than just texture data, but you still have to put that data somewhere.

Uncharted has an incredible amount of detail put into it's objects and environments. there are a variety of locales/unique objects in the game, each given incredible att...

i can't see how a 7.5gig Halo: Reach will be able to match a 25gig Killzone 2.

people well and truly dismiss how important disc space is for helping a game's visuals by storing not just higher quality textures, but a wide VARIETY of high quality textures.

do you think Uncharted and Uncharted 2 would look as phenomenal as they are if they had to be squeezed onto a 7.5gig disc?

even if the Xbox 360 was capable of visuals like Killzone 2, or Uncharted 1 and...

Valve, once a respected, awesome developer of Half Life 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2: now producing mediocre/shallow filler games (Left4Dead), and spewing vitriol at anyone even remotely connected to the Playstation 3 and it's community.

EA, once a douchetastic, evil corporation: now producing games that i have to say are quite quality (Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Need for Speed Shift, Brutal Legend)

Square-Enix, once the best RPG house in the industry: now, produci...

Uncharted 2 is HEADS and SHOULDERS above the rest.

the only other game that i can think of that comes close to taking it's narrative seriously is Heavenly Sword. it had strong central characters, a memorable antagonist, and excellent performances, kind of like Uncharted 2. too bad HS was raped in reviews, even though the gameplay was on par with others in it's genre like DMC, Ninja Gaiden, and God of War (minus the tedious wandering around and backtracking).

it's like they TRY and pick fights with the PS3 community with their ignorant comments.

i personally don't care if a Valve game NEVER touches a Playstation console: i have an Xbox 360, and i have a PC, and yet i still don't buy Valve games.

why? because they are probably the most unprofessional game developer i've ever SEEN. and i've worked for ACTIVISION for Pete's sake!

Valve can't seem to get the PS3 off of their minds. if they were confident in devel...

i also think that Sony innovated and took risks with their hardware also this generation:

HDD standard in every unit, even though that added to the high price of the console. they could have offered an HDD-less model, but knew how important it would be in the future.

Built in Wi Fi in every unit; it's not a necessity, but i certainly enjoy having it, and my PS3 is connected wirelessly NOW, because my router is too far from my HDTV to run a cord to it.

the problem is HOW Valve has handled not making games for the PS3.

you know, when Bioware made KOTOR and Jade Empire on the Xbox, and Mass Effect on the Xbox 360, they didn't sh*t all in the Playstation 2 or Playstation 3's cereal, and that was BEFORE they made Dragon Age for the PS3.

it's called "not burning your bridges," and it's a VERY wise business practice.

Valve burned their bridges with the Playstation 3 crowd not because they choose to...

what i take from David's ACTUAL comment, and not the condensed, sensationalized title is that he wants people to look at Heavy Rain and say, "that's so unique, i want to buy a PS3 for it." he didn't say that it IS a system seller, but they really wanted to make a game that gets you to buy the console it's on in the same way a good trailer will make you drop $15+ bucks at the theater.

the actual interview at IGN is very interesting, and Cage is certainly a lot more humb...
