it most certainly faces competition, but like God of War 1 and 2 before it, it will still be the standard by which all action/adventure games are based around. a title that God of War 1 took from Devil May Cry (there'd be no GoW without DMC; that's the truth. DMC showed us what a real 3D action/adventure game could be, and GoW married it with more balanced combat, a great story, and epic scale).

personally, i can't wait to get my hands on games like Dante's Inferno and God of War...

it looks like something an amateur would do.

i may not be a graphic artist, but i AM an artist, and this cover is boring.

and i never said the previous FF game covers were good, did i? i think they're boring too. if it wasn't for the fact that the series is Final Fantasy, the boring box art wouldn't be doing the game any favors.

covers for new IPs tend to have more impressive box art (see Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, inFAMOUS, Dead Space, Mass Effect, etc...

tell me, if the game wasn't FFXIII, and you saw that box art on the shelf, would you be enraptured?

odds are: NO.

BUT, since it's Final Fantasy, they can get away with such plain, uninspired box art.

quality box art says something about the game and it's contents without you needing to pick it up and turn it over to read the copy on the back of the box.

a cityscape of one of the fantasy locations, with some air ships and explosions probably ...

i play more games on my PS3 than the 360, and i think the exclusives are, overall, much better, but i enjoy my 360, and i'm looking forward to games like Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, and Fable 3.

there is no right or wrong choice when it comes to which console you pick up.

at the time i was in the market for a console, the PS3 had all the features and software that appealed to my tastes, and i knew that eventually sequels to my favorite franchises (God of W...

like the same stuff.

just because Heavy Rain will hit around the same time as MAG doesn't mean those games will cannibalize each other.

i'll use me as an example.

i was in the MAG Beta, and discovered that it wasn't my thing (i was also never a big fan of SOCOM, and MAG, to me, feels like SOCOM in first person perspective, and with a gigantic sense of scale). i won't be buying MAG next year.

Heavy Rain is exactly the type of game i enjoy (i ...

i am very impressed with the resurgence the PS3 has undergone this year.

the price is right, and the software quality is on an upward curve, just like another console called the Playstation just a generation ago...

despite me being a big PS3 fanboy, i think all three platforms are going to perform rather well this holiday season.

with the more rounded acceptance of the PS3 and Wii worldwide, however, i think they are going to come out on top. the 360 wil...

the REAL ISSUE isn't that Valve is developing games exclusively for the 360.

the issue isn't that Left4Dead and other Valve games aren't on the PS3, or have received lackluster/terrible support (ie, The Orange Box).

the ISSUE is how Valve continually badmouths the PS3 when asked simple questions concerning the platform.

Interview Question: So, why isn't Left4Dead coming to the PS3?

Valve: Because the PS3, pardon me, the POS3, is a woefully i...

NO FPS score from Game Informer will EVER be right.

i've been replaying KZ2 over the past week, and it truly is the best console FPS this year, if not this generation. it is simply unmatched. not saying the other suck (the CoD series, Halo series, and Resistance series are all quality FPS series), just that Killzone 2 elevates the genre beyond the typical design ethic, and attempts to do something new with it (instead of twitchy, auto-aim driven FPS, it's more grounded, weighty, ...

last night, and holy crap i forgot how awesome and intense that game is.

and since i'm not the first to make the comparison: i've been extremely underwhelmed with MW2's single player. it's not as long, epic, or intense as Killzone 2, and while the graphics are solid, they don't hold a candle to KZ2. it's just a fact.

MW2 is getting free passes because it's the sequel to CoD4, and the gaming media (and gamers) have a soft spot for it.

in truth, Modern War...

two games on the PS2.

despite the SD cutscenes, the upgraded graphics and locked framerate, Trophies make this the definitive God of War 1 and 2 experience. no fan of the series should be without it.

my copy didn't come with demo code, but Sony was nice enough to email me the demo code when i inquired about why my copy didn't include a voucher, and holy sh*t is GoW3 awesome! the wait for March just got harder, and i really wish i hadn't played the demo at all! lol. ...

i mean, i was one of the guys that bought Oni back when the PS2 came out. and i LIKED IT. well, i liked the CONCEPT, but i thought the control scheme was too weird at the time.

Bungie is a good developer, i just think they are being hindered by Microsoft refusing to let them work on anything non-Halo, even though they are now "independent."

at least Sony gives it's first and second party devs room to flex their creative muscles.

Naughty Dog did...

but people are under the impression that "overhyped," means "bad game."

personally, i think games like Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 blow Modern Warfare 2 away, but i'd be lying if i said that Modern Warfare 2 was a bad game.

it's most certainly a very good FPS. it doesn't deserve the adoring praise and adulation it gets, but it's a very good FPS title.

again: "overhyped" does not mean "bad." it simply means that peop...

i have a 60gig BC PS3, and i haven't had a single issue with ANY of the firmwares released so far.

i've been pretty fortunate that i haven't encountered anything thus far, i suppose.

as it's been mostly PS3 fans (and fanboys), who have been crying foul about L4D2, but i don't think it's an expansion pack.

i DO think, however, that it's a sequel designed to purely cash in on the success of the original game, and fund development for Valve's future projects.

they had a hit with the original, so why wouldn't they make a sequel? i wouldn't be surprised if L4D3 hits next year.

with that said, i NEVER want to hear anyone b*tch about Insomn...

and no Killzone 2 equals fail.

no, it's no the most revolutionary game ever but it doesn't have to be.

as far as war FPS action goes, i've never played a game more intense and frantic as KZ2. the amazing visuals are just icing on the cake, and help to immerse the player.

is that i have a subscription to the Marvel online comics, and i can read them on my PS3 via the web browser. lol.

it's great, because, unlike my laptop, which has a small screen, i'm reading the comics on my 40" Samsung, and the images and text are huge and crisp.

while a dedicated comic's reader on the PS3 would be nice, thanks to the web browser, it's not necessary. the Flash support on the PS3 is more than enough to run the Marvel comic's site with no issues...

i'm playing it on a 60gig BC PS3, and am about over 3 quarters through GoW and no freezes.

game is brilliant by the way. any fans of the game not certain about double-dipping: DON'T WORRY. the upgrade is loads better than the PS3 upscaling job of the PS2 versions, and the gameplay is top notch, as always. it really is like playing the game with fresh eyes again. it's gorgeous. i didn't realize HOW beautiful the art design was in GoW until you see it in HD, with smoothed edges and...

i'll probably run through it a few more times, just because it's so damned fun, and i haven't maxed out all of my weapons, or upgraded them to their Omega versions (costly, that is).

probably my favorite Ratchet since Up Your Arsenal.

a remastering of Up Your Arsenal in the A Crack in Time engine would, hands down, be the best Ratchet and Clank game...EVER!!

anyway, congrats to Insomniac. they are such an underappreciated developer. how many developers c...

when your completely enjoyable, beautiful, and FUN Playstation 3 debut title is ripped to shreds by a bitter, spiteful gaming media, which, in turn, causes even the most diehard Playstation fans to avoid the title like the plague until playing it themselves and realizing it was awesome, pushing the game to nearly a million sales, but by then it was too late, the damage to the brand was done, and the exclusive was dead.

Lazeravic was too cliche and 1 dimensional to be a memorable villain. he was perfect for the pulp adventure feel of Uncharted 2, but Gabriel Roman was better and more rounded.

i don't know about the CoD villain, since i haven't played that one.

Visari is always a great choice, as Brian Cox never fails to deliver a great performance.
