so when are we going to see the thousands of Darksider PS3/360 articles?
oh yeah, we AREN'T because apparently the PS3 version is better than the 360 in some way, and therefore it must be buried so the "360 multi-plats are ALWAYS better than PS3 multi-plats" meme can keep dragging this generation down lower than it already is...
STUPID.
is nudity considered porn. and worse than murder!
because, like, the naked human body is totally the most OBSCENE thing you can ever see in your life! there is NOTHING worse! EVER!
seeing people ripped to shreds, decapitated, burned alive, shot, stabbed, blown up, sawed in half, etc, is A (for" America!) OK!
i don't think i need to put the /sarcasm tag on this, do i? (and yes, i'm born and bred in America, and i'm also a Christian. seriously, i am) ...
they didn't have anything to play on their Xbox 360's until the end of the year when Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2 came out!
i'm kidding! really! sort of...maybe...
the industry, like most entertainment mediums, has ebbs and flows.
2005-2007 was ebbing and flowing towards the 360.
even without the massive amount of HATE the gaming media spewed against the PS3, i believe the 360 still would have had the strong showing it had; it had come out a year earlier.
mid to late 2007 was when the PS3 started showing glimmers of a turnaround (Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Ratchet: TOD, and Uncharted all hit in mid to late ...
multi-player, but not because i get to level up (although the RPG nerd in me is addicted to such things).
i keep playing those games because i have fun. with that said, i haven't touched any of those game's online components in months.
the last one i played was Uncharted 2 co-op with my cousin, because he had never played Survival and Gold Rush. we had a blast.
i'm 30, and i have very limited time to game (wife, bills, work, etc), so the amount of time n...
(i'm not the biggest racing fan, but god damn if GT isn't a beautiful love note to pretty cars, and it looks great on my HDTV), but a later release date may make me pick it up.
so far, my early 2010 release date list is this:
White Knight Chronicles - February
Heavy Rain - February
God of War 3 - March
Final Fantasy XIII - March
i still have to get:
Darksiders
Yakuza 3
Mass Effect 2
for a 3 month sp...
the biggest fail Sony had this generation was their early handling of PR. they were c0cky, arrogant, and thought they were invincible.
thankfully, they were taken down a notch, and since then, Sony has, ironically, become the most consumer relatable and "human" of the three corporations. Nintendo is all about the cheddar these days, and Microsoft, to me, is now directionless. they don't know if they want to continue to woo the hardcore, online teenage demographic (more ...
all i want is Heavy Rain, in my Playstation 3, right NOW. i couldn't care LESS about what kind of boxart it has.
the NA box art is more suited to the average US consumer. it has the elements that appeal to them: attractive woman, tough looking men, and guns.
the EU box art is stylistically "cooler" and more "artsy," but as history shows us time and time again, most of us American's don't give a rats ass about style or art, unless a celebrity tells...
granted, there are some games with AMAZING art direction that also have lots of polys being pushed around.
for example, God of War 3 has great art design. it also has a lot of graphics calculations being run.
on the flip side, Flower is a game i think has great graphics, but it has minimalistic art design.
naturally, God of War 3 is more graphically impressive on a technical level than Flower, but Flower is no less graphically stunning when seen on an HD...
screw you.
i AM a bit Playstation fan. i've been playing on Playstation consoles for the past 15 years, but i also like the Xbox and Xbox 360, and i own both.
just because i don't like every single game on the Xbox 360, or how Microsoft has handled things this generation, doesn't mean i'm not going to play the games that come out on the console that DO interest me.
as i stated before, i'm really looking forward to Mass Effect 2 (my wife is also), Alan Wa...
i agree with you that Sony's marketing often leaves a lot to be desired, but you also have to take into account that Sony has more than just one or two games and products to put a marketing budget behind.
Microsoft can afford to invest in $30 million marketing campaigns JUST for Halo 3, but Fable 2, Crackdown, and other Xbox 360 exclusives developed by Microsoft (and not 3rd parties like Epic Games), didn't have anywhere NEAR a $30 million dollar marketing campaign.
...
what part of MY Xbox 360 list do you not understand?
i'm not going to buy Halo: Reach, Splinter Cell, or whatever because they're 360 exclusives. i buy games that i, myself, am personally interested in, and so far, the ONLY Xbox 360 exclusives i'm interested in this year are Mass Effect 2, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, and Fable 3. if more games are announced that i find interesting, i'll get them.
it's obvious that my list wasn't all inclusive of every 360 exclusive comin...
i appreciate you taking the time to read it. for ANYONE reading it for that matter.
i don't need people to agree with me, and i like a good debate when people disagree with mature posts as well (even if they are as verbose as mine are).
i know i can't be 100% spot on with my analyses, but i only post what i believe to be the truth to the best of my knowledge (with a healthy bit of my own personal opinion thrown in, of course).
i welcome dissenting opinio...
i never mean for my comments to explode but i can't help myself. i'm just one of those verbose individuals.
it's like Andrew Wiggin in Ender's Game: i want to defeat any and all arguments so thoroughly that there's no need for a second "attack," it's done first time around. lol.
i didn't mean for my comment to be so hard on the 360 and Wii, but the PS3 has been the red-headed step-child of the gaming industry since it's $500/$600 price was announced, and ye...
it's ridiculous the effort the gaming press puts toward "character assassination" of PS3 games pre-release.
where are the "Why Halo: Reach is unimpressive" articles?
what about the "Why Fable 3 won't impress?"
or
"Why Natal is a complete and utter disaster?"
only for PS3 exclusives do we see a constant stream of articles about WHY PS3 fans shouldn't ever be excited for ANY Playstation 3 ex...
it's about MARKETING.
the European box art, artistically, is great, but it wouldn't work in the US.
consumers walk into a store and see an Origami on the box with the words Heavy Rain, and i guarantee they'll pass it buy (they won't even notice the subtitle: The Origami KILLER).
the current cover is more suited to American marketing:
1) Showcase an attractive woman on the cover to entice males age 16-35, but it's not so gratuitous as to alie...
game assassination attempts on 360 games.
seriously. i don't.
it's always, "this Xbox 360 exclusive is looking AMAZING! it's really going to be a great gaming experience because of >enter game play features here; mostly centered around Xbox LIVE.<"
but for PS3 pre-release press, it's "this game is going to disappoint, and not be worth buying because of >insert game play features NOT present in the game; mostly centered around Xbox...
i don't think i've seen a single OXM review of a PS3 that is filled with half of the trash and vitriol Edge PS3 game reviews are.
like Jack Burton said above, i'd rather read an Official Xbox Magazine review of a PS3 game than an Edge or Eurogamer review of a PS3 game. it's been proven, with facts, that they are heavily bias against the PS3.
on topic, Halo Reach is actually looking impressive, which is a genuine surprise to me, because i haven't enjoyed a Halo game s...
i have ever seen.
because of fanboyism, beloved franchises like GTA, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc, have been turned into pariahs and outcast.
and for WHAT? because a game goes multi-platform?
look, me and my buddy played a good 10 hours of Final Fantasy 13 (he's since played more), and the game is really, REALLY good. the graphics are great, the battle system is great, the game is in Japanese, so i have no idea what the story really is, but the gist...
