i actually traded in Darksiders once i was finished (great game, sunk about 22+ hours into it, but was satisfied after completing it), but i kept the code that came with it. i figured it'd be some cool DLC, and if i ever decided to get the game again in the future, i'd get it.
i was very surprised when it was Red Faction: Guerrilla. it was a game i had been meaning to get when it launched, but i just couldn't afford it.
$5 video games for the win!

can you not play Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry, GTA, Resident Evil, etc on the Playstation 3?
how has Sony lost anything when those games are still available on the Playstation 3?
now here's another question:
can you play these games on another console:
Uncharted 1 and 2
Resistance 1 and 2
Motorstorm 1 and 2
Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD, QFB, and ACIT
Heavenly Sword (great game)
Folklore (also great game) ...
the Killzone 2 multi-player. KZ2 multi-player doesn't look as good as KZ2 single player, that's a known fact.
comparison 3 is also a shot from Killzone 2 multi-player. that's one of the multi-player maps, as that level in KZ2 only has one train on the track.
anyway, Halo: Reach looks really good, but it's hard to compare it to a game that released on the PS3 specifically for the reason to shut people the hell up about how the PS3 lacks a strong FPS, and isn't a "...
me and my wife don't have many games to play together, and we were really pumped when we found out Fable 2 had co-op. then we GOT Fable 2, and the co-op sucked. we couldn't even use our characters?? that's pretty lame.
i think there should be a few options available for co-op to make it better:
1) Online co-op should let you use your character from the game, not be some henchman.
2) Various options for same couch play, like Split-Screen, or same screen, ...
other than my Xbox 360, so this decision doesn't affect me.
as for it not releasing on the PC...*shrugs* piracy is rampant on the PC. not all PC gamers are pirates of course, but the minority has ruined it for the majority in this case.
if you PC gamers really want to play Alan Wake, get an Xbox 360. i'm sure you can find some other games that you'd like. of course, most of them are also on the PC...
ah well. i'm looking forward to it. i haven't been fol...
games in the first place. i've been gaming since the NES launched in 1985, and i consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer.
i still love the Zelda series to this day.
what kind of unfounded article is this?
man, does no one even bother to do research before posting articles these days?
do you have to take the word of a complete stranger like Keighly?
no one is FORCING you to buy into the hyperbole that spews from the gaming media's mouth.
all i knew of today was that there was a new God of War 3 trailer with never before seen footage. that was enough to get me excited.
and lo and behold, there WAS a new God of War 3 trailer and it had new footage! expectations MET.
go be disappointed all you want, but in the end, it was YO...
i don't need a breakdown of the story, god dammit.
if i didn't already know what Ethan goes through, i'd have been immensely spoiled by that paragraph.
i don't have the game yet, but i'm already thinking about how i'm going to write my review without giving anything away of the plot.
in such a story/character driven game, i don't want to alter or ruin someone's experience in my writeup.
good review or not, Eurogamer could have used a bit mor...
so this is a step up. lol.
anyway, reviews mean jack sh*t this generation, good or bad. the only opinion you can trust is your own.
if you like the God of Wars, i can't possibly imagine you hating the third. and from what i played of the demo, it's God of War, with eye-searingly gorgeous visuals. what more could i ask for?
on the one hand, i absolutely LOVED inFAMOUS, and am dying for a sequel. looking at the jump in game quality from Sly Cooper to Sly 2, i'm expecting a big jump from inFAMOUS to inFAMOUS 2.
they did have a two year cycle though, but Sly 3 came only a year after Sly 2, and it's the best one in the series.
then, on the other hand, i really love when a game has a 2 year dev cycle. it allows the developers to really work on improving the game mechanics and engine.
...
so instead of creative people wracking their brain trying to "dazzle" you with something you've never seen before, i'd much rather see them use their creativity to refine and perfect the ideas that have been established for generations.
Uncharted is a great example. the pulp adventure genre is not new. stories of dashing heroes embarking on globetrotting quests for mythological items/artifacts is not new.
but Uncharted practically PERFECTS the genre (at lea...
suddenly it's "hey, do reviews even MATTER!"
but when a game like WKC and MAG is getting mixed reviews (ie, some people LOVE it, others HATE it), it's "man, the PS3 is totally coming out of the gate in 2010 with CRAPPY GAMES! HAW HAW!"
the truth is that scores NEVER MATTER.
they are an arbitrary number slapped at the end of the review to garner hits.
if you were to actually read the TEXT of the review, you'd find the most...
for having a strong interest in online MP games NOT want to play MAG, or at least have a passing interest in it?
so, suddenly, because the MP game is on the PS3, MP fanboys aren't curious about a 256 player MP, military FPS?
i'm sorry, but i call shenanigans.
true MP fans would at the least think MAG was intriguing. afterall, there hasn't EVER been a console FPS that hosted 256 player battles.
it has all the bells and whistles that console F...
i still have the PS2 version. occassionally i'll pop it in and play it, but it looks like crap being upscaled to my HDTV. lol.
1) Controls: Does the game have responsive/intuitive controls. an example of a game with responsive intuitive controls would be Uncharted 2 or inFAMOUS. A game with poor controls would be Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (to name only one).
2) Graphics: Do the graphics fit the tone the developer was trying to establish. ie, if it's a survival horror game, do the visuals fit that genre, and are they within industry standards. an example of a game with graphics that fit the tone/styl...
i finally got a chance to sit down and play some of the online with two friends, and it was great.
i don't know why a game just can't be FUN anymore.
reviewers are looking for too much, and are impressed by too little.
visually, WKC has excellent backgrounds. the creature designs and character models are decent. it's very stylized anime.
they like to criticize the game play, when it's no different than some of the MMO's that they praise to n...
is about entertainment.
as a piece of entertaining, interactive software, Heavy Rain is looking to deliver quality. i absolutely loved the demo.
as a gamer who's been playing since the NES launched in 1985, i'm constantly amazed at what developers/publishers have been able to pull off.
yeah, there are more Activisions than Quantic Dreams out there, but those few developers that really push the industry forward are the reason why, at 30, i'm still a gamer...
it's developed by a European developer, afterall.
and besides, Edges says they reward "innovation," and while anyone that's played Indigo Prophecy will know that not EVERYTHING about Heavy Rain is original (like it's focus on a more cinematic presentation), the way they implemented the various mechanics (as evidenced by the demo last week), i don't see why they won't stick by their apparent standard of "rewarding innovation."
oh, wait, it's Edge, ...
this year.
how many sites go live months before the game's release?
i'm thinking Quarter 1 2011 is when Killzone 3 will launch.
although, looking at how it got snubbed in awards (along with a few other early release games), i wouldn't be surprised if Killzone 3 gets released in summer 2011, June or July.
hopefully it will get the respect it deserves, because Killzone 2 butthurt a LOT of people with how much it failed to fail, and they took i...
yes, it's extremely short by standard media standards, but in truth, it's more than enough to express what he/she thought of the game.
it pretty much cuts to the chase without spoiling any elements of the game.
in my opinion, a review should touch on these things:
1) The premise. What is the game about.
2) The controls. How quality are the controls.
3) The game play. How does the game play.
4) The story. How is the narrative/voice actin...
