Microsoft has 9 first and second party studios:
* 343 Industries: A studio set up to develop future Halo related productions[6].
* BigPark: Joy Ride.
* Firebird Studios: Set up to help push the visual boundaries of all Xbox 360 titles. Also working on an unannounced game.[7]
* Spawnpoint Studios: Working on a unannounced Project Natal game.[8]
* Lionhead Studios: Black & White series, Fable series.
* Rare Ltd.: Banjo-Kazooie seri...
i'm going to go on a media blackout for God of War 3.
there's just something about this game that makes me not want to know anything else about it.
i've been playing the series since the first released, and i've been anticipating God of War 3 since the ending cutscene of God of War 2 (now THAT'S how you end the previous title, pimp the next title, and not leave the fans pissed).
i already know more than i need to know to be excited about God of War 3: Kr...
on the plus side, they got rid of all of the things that i disliked about the first one (the annoying load times on elevators, the unstable framerate, the MAKO), the combat (minus the cover system; there have been countless times i've sprinted when trying to take cover, and took cover when i was trying to sprint. sprinting and taking cover should be on two different buttons, i think).
but they also did a few things that i don't like: the boring mini-games. scanning planets and ha...
but it's not an open world game (unless it somehow opens up later; i never got to finish the PS2 one, sadly).
it's more of an JRPG than a GTA style game.
it really irritates me the lack of research, and the pure blindly ignorant "articles" that get written about games this generation.
the sheer amount of uninformed drivel that gets posted is staggering.
as someone else said earlier, Yakuza DOES NOT EQUAL GTA.
i'll try ...
so all you took from my post is "teh sales!" which i never actually mentioned.
i'm not talking about sales. i'm talking about GAME QUALITY. say it with me. GAME QUALITY.
the quality of a gaming experience has absolutely, 100% NOTHING TO DO WITH IT'S FRICKING SALES!
Ico is widely considered to be one of the best games of last generation. it barely sold 170,000 units worldwide. it was a commercial BOMB. a terrific game (and with terrific visuals,...
nerd rage much?
i didn't list the HDD 360 because i couldn't remember how much it cost. either way, it's still in the mainstream market price (i'm pretty sure the 360 with the HDD isn't $400 or more), so my argument stands.
the price of all 3 systems is fair, and Activision is being their usual, greedy self in demanding the console manufacturers lower their prices anymore any time soon.
i'm not even going to touch the rest of your post. it's not worth a ...
the PS3 version over the Xbox 360 version when reviewing this game, as they did with SO MANY previous multi-plats that were marginally better on the Xbox 360. they were tripping over themselves to recommend the "superior" Xbox 360 version.
even with Dragon Age: Origins, they recommended the PC version over the console version, just so they didn't have to say, "for console owners, the PS3 version is the way to go."
and yet, when it's a PC/360 title...
just like the Xbox 360 doesn't need Uncharted 2.
to each his own.
contrary to popular belief, the Xbox and Playstation have different demographics (with some overlap, of course; i own a PS3 and an Xbox 360, like i owned a PS2 and Xbox and Gamecube last gen).
while i'm sure there are 360 fans that wouldn't mind playing Uncharted 2, and PS3 owners that wouldn't mind playing Mass Effect, it's not a desperate need. there is plenty on both platforms to make t...
some of the BEST games of the past 30 years have had spectacular graphics to go along with the excellent game play.
some of you may be too young to remember, but a long time ago, Super Mario Bros was considered a graphical powerhouse and "arcade perfect."
game's like Super Metroid, Sonic the Hedgehog, Resident Evil 4, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid (all of them), etc, etc, have ALL been widely considered as some of the best games of their ages, an...
that last trailer was really good. chances are it will be what tides me over during the late spring, early summer months until the late summer, fall blitz of games begins again.
how about you focus on actually making some GOOD games that are worthy of their $60 price tag, instead of relying on your tired licensed franchises (ie, Marvel, movie tie-ins), and then maybe people will be more inclined to not only respect you as a developer, but buy your games?
look at EA; they're EVIL! but this generation they've put the effort into creating some damn quality games, and we got Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, even Dante's Inferno is a solid outing.
Act...
when it comes to FPS games, which are fundamentally the same, Killzone 2 is rather unique. the look, feel, and atmosphere of the game is second to none on consoles.
why taint up a Halo: Reach thread with talks of Killzone 2?
personally, while i don't think the visuals match it (as i said in another post, Killzone 2 was designed to shut up the PS3 doubters, and to be a visual showpiece for the system), Halo: Reach's intentions were NEVER to be the showpiece game for the ...
either you're new here, or you haven't seen any of my other posts. i've easily bested this one. lol.
we totally know that's all you really care about! this guy is a phony! hey, he's a big phony!
he doesn't even like GAMES! he's a Dark Knight fanboy! ATTACK!!
(i do hope you know i was being facetious, your comment made me lol).
hey, i'm still on here.
and while reading mastiff's comment, i was thinking, "man, this is like one of MY posts." lol
fanboyism in the gaming MEDIA is what's hurting this industry, and it's not only limited to the internet. it's filtered out into the real world.
for example, just two years ago, whenever i'd go into my local EB or Gamestop, i was amazed at how many of the clerks were parroting the BS you heard on the internet at the time to cons...
people think that MAG, WKC, GoW3, Heavy Rain, and GT5 are the only titles hitting the PS3.
this isn't list padding, but for announced titles, there's
MAG
White Knight Chronicles
Heavy Rain
God of War 3
Yakuza 3
3D Dot Game Heroes
The Last Guardian
Agent (Rockstar said it was coming 2010)
Gran Turismo 5
Unannounced titles for 2010:
Resistance 3
The Agency (could be good; not my style, howe...
Activision, Square-Enix, Vivendi (before Activision bought them), Luxoflux, and Obsidian Entertainment.
it is mostly a thankless job (although the folks at Obsidian ROCK. seriously, they were so awesome. getting to chat it up with Feargus Urquhart every day was pretty sweet).
being a Tester for Square was also pretty cool, but it was a really easy project.
working for Activision was a pain in the ass. they treat you like a workhorse. the pay is good thou...
as for the others, i would really love to see a new Ape Escape, as i just love that series.
and as much as i hate to say it, i think it'd be a LOT of fun to whack those monkeys with the motion controller wand.
considering that the original Ape Escape was the first title to use the then new Dual Shock controller to it's fullest, i think Ape Escape PS3 could do some creative things with the PS3 motion controller wand.
as for Time Splitters 3? we COULD HAVE...
time with Final Fantasy XIII, but i have about 10+ hours hands on time with the Japanese version (a friend of mine got it from his brother, who sent it to him from Japan), and it's a rather spectacular game.
the visuals are incredibly crisp, and the cutscenes look absolutely stunning. say what you will about Square-Enix, but their CGI cutscenes get better and better with each FF.
as for the game play, since me and my buddy at the time only played 10 hours, i can't sp...
once again, Edge has scored a Playstation 3 exclusive title 7/10.
it is nearly mathematically impossible for so many PS3 exclusive titles to be 7/10 titles. so far this generation, they have given what, 3? Playstation 3 exclusives higher than a 7/10? MGS4, Little Big Planet, and Uncharted 2?
in the mean time, they've given numerous Xbox 360 exclusives 9/10+ scores.
i'm not saying the 360 exclusives DON'T deserve the 9/10+ scores (games like Mass Effect, ...
