an activity with rules and parameters that players must adhere to in some way in order to reach a goal.

Heavy Rain is still a game, no matter the wrappings that it's in.

you have rules: you're using the control to direct your character and perform actions.

you have parameters: most interaction of the game is relegated to using the Right Analog Stick and Face and Shoulder buttons to achieve goals.

you have goals: to successfully navigate thro...

it was on Neverwinter Nights 2.

i remember the early test stuff of Alpha Protocol, and i have to say the game has come quite a long ways.

they were some AWESOME guys over there in Santa Ana.

it was very different from working with a very impersonal company like Activision.

i'd see Feargus Urquhart and Chris Avellone practically every day. to be on first name basis, and have chats with Feargus about my artwork and gaming was such a crazy expe...

interesting. when was that announced?

anyway, my plan is to get God of War 3, Yakuza 3, and FFXIII.

at the very least, i'll get God of War 3. i gotta finish the fight...with Olympus. lol

my first playthrough was probably the best, because i made mistakes, and had to "live" with the consequences of those mistakes (i lost two of my main characters; one early on, the other later on; it DRASTICALLY affected the story).

my second playthrough was infinitely better story wise, in that i got to get a "happy ending," and learn more of the story and characters, but it's hard to explain, but that first playthrough, where i chose to truck on, despite figh...

i want the game to PLAY, not add to sales statistics.

this generation of gaming has such warped priorities.

a system seller isn't just the game with the biggest budget.

yes, certain games push systems: Gran Turismo, Halo, Mario, etc.

but you'd be surprised at what games will cause people to go out and buy a system. it's not always the "flavor of the week" popular game.

some folks probably bought a 360 for Fable 2. most...

Killzone 2 simply looks better.

as for the excuse of, "Halo: Reach has scale!"

i ask you: what about God of War 3? that game has scale AND breathtaking visuals. and it's not in first person, so it has to model Kratos' ENTIRE BODY, and his animation set, not just a "floating gun."

to be fair, GoW3's scale dwarfs Killzone 2 as well. i'd argue that GoW 3 looks better than KZ2 on it's scale alone, but KZ2 is doing a lot of things that i d...

because i've played through the game twice so far, and i'm about a quarter of the way through my third playthrough, and i haven't had a single issue.

i think the only thing i saw was a few dropped frames in some of the more hectic scenes.

overall, it's been smooth sailing.

and i downloaded and installed the patch on day one.

but you can read some of my older editorials on my site (the site is on my profile page; i'm not sure about posting in here in comments, because i don't want to seem like i'm spamming).

thanks!

PS2 graphics looked better than PS1 cutscenes:

http://www.freewebs.com/lpf...

lol.

it's kind of standard for the next Playstation console to be light-years ahead of the last:

and it's the same here in Los Angeles.

my buddy told me how, just a few months ago, he went to Best Buy, and this customer was talking to the Best Buy salesperson about buying a Playstation 3. the salesperson did everything he could to downplay the PS3, using the same old tired "m...

considering that the 360, also, has a multi-core processor.

and NOW Valve wants to consider making PS3 games?

i'm sorry, but i think i'll stick with developers that have been working on the console for those 4 years, and are therefore more likely to produce content that pushes the console in some way.

Gabe put his foot in his mouth back in 2006, and i haven't forgotten.

i find it funny how it's completely ok to bring up the arrogance of Sony back in 2006, but when we start calling Valve and Gabe out on their anti...

EVERY GAME needs to raise the bar in some way.

how about the game concentrate on being a great experience first, and if it raises the bar, then it does.

look at Flower. that game doesn't raise any bars, and yet it's a great gaming experience.

i think games like inFAMOUS, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and Heavy Rain raise the bar in their respective genres, and in various ways (i think inFAMOUS raises the bar when it comes to control, "level...

the game made me feel emotions i've never felt while playing a game before. the emotional connection i felt to the characters was surprising, and some of the tenser moments of the game are quite taxing emotionally. so yes, Cage succeeded in making "fun" being one of the least experienced emotions in the game.

there's a point when you're so engrossed in the story and characters, that you aren't thinking you are playing a video game. you are connected to the world and cha...

this is an episode of GTTV, not just a trailer Sony slapped onto the PSN.

if i remember correctly, GTTV episodes are $2.99 for HD. you aren't just paying for the GoW footage, but the entire 22 minute episode of GTTV.

some people just LOVE to feel like they are being shafted this generation.

considering that GTTV is free on the internet, i don't see the problem with them trying to make some cash on the side on the PSN. it's not like we're being FORCED to ...

anything to go by last year, then i'd be surprised if Mass Effect 2 and God of War 3 are even REMEMBERED by the end of the year.

or maybe completely ignoring beginning of the year games is only reserved for Killzone 2?

sorry, i'm still a bit irked that quite possibly the best console FPS this generation got absolutely SNUBBED when it came to any awards, including Graphics, Technical Achievement, Multi-player, etc.

Killzone 2 was a FANTASTIC game that del...

i feel dumber having read it.

the guy's whole purpose in this article is downplay Heavy Rain because it, what, gives you choices that are either "against character," or "true to character?"

he's angry because he believes that the only reason why anyone would choose certain actions is to get all the Trophies?

are you fricking KIDDING ME?

i wasn't playing the game for the Trophies. most certainly not my first playthrough. ...

i beat the game (TWICE, so far!), and i can't imagine how i'd enjoy the film as a straight up linear narrative.

the differences between my first playthrough (i got a very "tragic" ending), and my second playthrough (i got a very happy ending) were like night and day.

i think one of the unspoken virtues of the game is how expertly it weaves your decisions into the game without it feeling heavy-handed or obvious.

there were moments when i didn't ...

Xbox FANS, just the fanboys who made coming to this site painful over the past 3 years.

i joined up in 2006 (i think, i believe it was before the PS3 launched), and N4G was a VERY different place.

The Mart, PowerofGreen, and some others were running all over PS3 related stories, trashing every game that came out, and trying to pretend that games like Uncharted 1, and Ratchet: TOD weren't impressive, to name only a few PS3 exclusives that them, and other fanboys like...
