I don't think AAA publishers will be doing crossplay between consoles. Maybe when COD or BF or nba2k start doing crossplay it will matter but i doubt it will happen.
well xbox does have some crossplay with windows 10 xbox app for pc, and they don't pay for live.

Beyond ultra huh. Did they come up with some kind of new never used before tech or did they just add the graphics settings they disabled for xbox "optimization". It's great that ms allowed them, since most ms games are usually straight xbox ports

sure they use windows but ms games store (or whatever it's called) is probably the least popular among pc gamers
every generation user base increases about 30% according to microsoft so I don't think they are very happy with xbox one sales. Which is why they don't report sales anymore.

XBOX doesn't have cross play with Madden, PES, FIFA, destiny, or gta so why mention it when talking about SONY? Madden will run on origin for pc and xbox doesn't cross play with origin. Xbox fans don't seem to care that they can't crossplay with origin even on "exclusives" like titanfall or use their ea access sub on pc. If xbox is so much for cross play why don't they allow this? Even the pc version of call of duty bought from xbox store could not even play with...
I think it's because steam users use win7 and xbox/ms store is win 10 only.
You don't have to run all the game launchers at the same time. PC gaming is actually much faster than console gaming, the controller can't keep up with mouse.

Sony's pc games were done by SOE. I think they sold them or closed it down, but they had a few very popular games. Everquest used to be huge and was subscription based so they made a lot of money from it. It was the biggest mmo before world of warcraft
open platform just means anyone can develop software for it

best multiplayer exclusives doesn't mean much when the most popular multiplayer games are multi-platform.
From microsoft's site, the top played games are fortnight, nba2k19, destiny2, rainbow6 siege, pubg, gtav. PS4 has the best exclusives period, and the number of exclusives compared to xbox is embarrassing. Microsoft really needs to step up if they want to compete next gen.
edit: mutiplatform games also have a much larger player base on ps4
