Will Microsoft drop direct x? If they want to develop games for other platforms than why would they use direct x, since vulkan works on windows too.
Baldurs Gate 3 is still in top 10 sales on steam and top 10 played games (released before starfield) while starfield is like #300 below games like division 2 and fishing planet
PS4 sold the most software of any console.

@porkchop
fps, raytracing, etc is all gpu stuff. So when they do gpu tests, they use the exact system but use different gpus, the results are huge if you look at the top vs bottom. CPU will give you a higher ceiling but all graphics stuff is gpu work. FPS is gpu.(you plug gfx card into monitor)
"All games and cards are tested with the drivers listed above—no performance results were recycled between test systems. Only this exact system with exactly the same configuratio...
One thing people seem to forget is that XBOX made gamepass because they had shittty sales. Meanwhile PS4 sold almost 2 billion games (most from any console)

It's software sales where they make money from (well at least SONY and Nintendo)
Half of HALO infinite's dev team were contract workers. Non contract devs were supposedly paid below the standard.

A lot of mod creators are against this. The Skyrim update basically broke a bunch of mods. Monetizing mods isn't good because a lot of mods use other peoples work. This will only be good for a few modders (MS or BGS certified) but will hurt the mod community. You'll be paying for the most basic mods like weapons or player houses. I think they were charging $6 for the gun and $7 for a player home. That's not gonna work when people run hundreds of mods with skyrim, and mods like TES...
@Petebloodyonion
Ms tried to do the same thing with UWP. All games made with UWP would've only been able to update from Windows store.(that includes dlc) It's just that no one wanted to use UWP or windows store.

Well they pay 30% to steam to sell games on pc, since no one uses the xbox store or whatever its called.
They were actually selling dlc for solitaire on google play LOL
@Angyobangyo
You can play the game right now, though it is still in alpha state. I've played it on one of the free trial days. It's definitely not a game for casuals, but the game's tech is very impressive. It seems to be getting some major updates soon also.

Regardless of if it sold well or not, it was disappointing. You can't keep disappointing fans and expect them to stay fans. Look at XBOX, years of disappointment is hard to recover from.

Developers leaving. Supposedly 70% of the staff that made dishonored and prey left
I think triple buffer is a OpenGL (vulkan) setting
I thought it was named after Microsoft?
The game was an average title on Playstation. 8.1 meta score, 7.8 user score (all the negative reviews mention boring gameplay) and sold around a million on ps4. When it released on xbox it instantly became one of the best games on xbox, (8.8 metacritic score, most xbox sites gave it 100 lol) maybe that's what you are thinking of?
