Unfortunately the software Microsoft is about is not games. Almost all their popular games have been bought except forza series.
But Playstation gets more 3rd party games than xbox?
It's more like unifying console xbox live and pc xbox live. Or are xbox users suddenly going to be able to use steam, battle net, etc.? PC gaming is not Microsoft.
Actually Sony said they will invest more into their games. It's worked well for them this gen.

Yeah xbox live has totally taken over pc gaming right? Even though they don't charge on pc, it's the least popular. They get a cut of all 3rd party sales on xbox, and all dlc, microstransactions also. Without that, the most popular games they have according to their site, is minecraft #8, forza horizon #16. SONY makes their games to sell their console. The reason there is an uncharted, god of war, etc. is because of playstation. You know, supporting their product. Who is going to pay for xbox live without an xbox console? They can't even get pc players and it's free. I know some people may use live on pc, but even epic games store is considered more of a competitor to steam. Take away 3rd party titles from xbox and the games list looks very poor.
Yeah Microsoft stopped focusing on hardware sales because they got smashed by ps4 this gen. They were the ones who used to hold a press conference after every npd to brag how much they outsold ps3 last gen and the ones who constantly talked about sales.

I don't think the games Microsoft has been putting out would really get pc gamers to buy an xbox if they kept them exclusive. A lot of their exclusives that aren't first party would already be on pc. (titanfall, ori, cuphead)
The xbox1 started out better than the 360. Microsoft used to say it was their fastest selling console.

I'm pretty sure ps+ also has more subscriptions than xbox live gold.
Are 3rd party publishers going to be ok with that? EA pulled their games off steam so you have to buy from origin. If 3rd party publishers pull their games from xbox, I don't think it can survive on it's first party alone
