I'm looking forward to finally checking Nioh out once I get through a few other games in my back log. My little bro has been playing Nioh on PC and so far he thinks it's great, no surprise there considering he's a big Souls fan and we both thoroughly enjoyed classics like Ninja Gaiden, and Omnimusha growing up. Those were some good times, speaking of which, time flies!
ETA - Nioh is a solid PC port, could be better but it could have turned out a lot worse. Regar...

"I have a i7 7700K and a GTX 1080. I play games at high/ultra settings mostly. I was just wondering how further I could boost perfomance with OC"
With that CPU/GPU, I do not see you really needing a OC, unless you're trying to squeeze out a few more fps to play at 4K? You should be able to max any game 60 fps at 1080p and 1440p, barring a few bad PC ports with poor optimization. OCing your GTX 1080 could give you 5-20 fps boost depending on the...
Just about any modern GPU/CPU has an auto-boost to give you that extra oomph for performance. You've been given a lot of good answers here already, I'll echo what a few have suggested, do some research before attempting anything. Secondly, ask yourself do you really need to OC your components? Before you will see a significant boost in performance you're more than likely going to need a fairly high OC, depending on your GPU/CPU set up, so do not expect to see a miracle increase in...
Thanks for the response, appreciate the feedback. I was primarily wondering how many people in the comment section that were saying that the game does not look that good or that much better than Som or the few that think that SoM looks better were playing on PC maxed settings + HD textures.
Trying to get a feel for how good the game can look at its best. Yeah, a lot of the HD texture packs end up taking up a crap load of VRAM and HDD for marginal improvements. The best example ...
Curious who is playing this on PC maxed with the HD texture pack? From hires vids that I've seen, I think the game is a nice improvement visually over SoM, especially considering it's 3-4x larger than the original. I haven't played it yet so that opinion may change but as seeing I'm impressed by YT videos that are never indicative of how good a game can look in person I'm confident it will look even better on my monitor right in front of me when I play.
Yep. Also this recent B.S.of charging $ for the Skyrim SE Survival mode is hammering the last few nails into the coffin. What a sad state of affairs truly. Especially when you have devs like CD Projekt Red who are doing the complete opposite.
Yeah they're on fire alright, just not in a good way. I speak primarily about Zenimax and their greedy anti-consumer practices of the past 2 years, which have only gotten progressively worse.
@vulcanproject - Honestly, I could careless whether I can play Halo 4-6 or the MCC or Sunset Overdrive in 4K. I'd be content to just have access to these games on my gaming PC. Don't get me wrong playing any game in 4K is awesome but for me, I'd rather play a game in either 1080p or better yet 1440p @ 60+fps over 4K @ 30fps if giving the choice. Personally, I find 1440p to be the sweet spot currently. 4K is getting there but to me is currently a buzzword. I give at least another ...
TBH, Between the Steam sales, GMG, CDkeys, Humble Bundle, Indiegala etc. and average game prices on PC commonly being a bit lower combined with free online alone evens out the score IMO. When you throw in the absurd amount of customization, Mods, control options and overall freedom that PC gaming offers it's not even a contest which is better. I will say this however, if you're unable or unwilling to build/buy a gaming PC, both the PS4 Pro and XB1X, the latter in particular as far as ...
@343_Guilty_Spark "Rainbow 6, COD, Wolfenstein, Battlefront, Battlefield, Halo 6, Gears" Will all of these titles run 4K 60 FPS? That's the real question. I use Destiny 2 as a known example and a recent one at that. The irony of your user name and Bungie the devs of the best Halo games/creator of the Halo franchise and Destiny yet you consider them not a good dev is funny. Not saying Destiny is a great game, haven't played it.
It has nothing to do with being CPU bound. The simple fact is that in order to achieve 4K 60 FPS you need a more powerful CPU, it's not all about the GPU. It isn't about underplaying the power of either console, particularly the XB1X which the more powerful of the two, it's just how it is when it comes to rendering, not a pissing contest or me being petty. Devs have already come out and said pretty much the same thing, surely they aren't blowing smoke.
How many games will the XB1X render in 4K 60fps? Native? The answer is not many. To be fair you need a beast of a gaming PC to play the most demanding games maxed out at 4K and 60 FPS. The fact is yes, the XB1X is a great deal for the $$$ but do not think that most games are going to be able to achieve both 4K and 60 fps. At least not native 4K, they will find loop holes like checker boarding etc. and even those titles will be rare or they'll suffer from lower settings, there's no way...
You're correct. Matter of fact, the biggest bottleneck both the PS4 Pro and XB1X face and what will hold them back are the weak CPUs and low CPU clocks in both consoles. This is why for example, Destiny 2 cannot do 4K 60 FPS. This will be a recurring story with the majority of games on both systems. The XB1X in particular is very powerful yet has a very weak CPU compared to the rest of its hardware which will unfortunately hold it back from achieving over 30 fps rendering at 4K. At this r...
Not many games will be running at both 4K and 60fps on either console. You can blame the weak CPU's for that one. Indie games and a few AAA games that aren't very hardware intensive will run at 4K 60 FPS but I wouldn't be expecting many games to be capable of both 4K and 60 fps or you're going to be disappointed. Even some high-end PC's struggle at 4K 60(+) FPS with the most demanding games currently available. the XB1X and PS4 Pro will run the majority of AAA games at 4K ...
"You can play virtually everything Xbox One X will have on a PC though. " As a PC gamer who is very happy that Microsoft has finally giving in and has let some of its exclusives come to PC, that's incorrect. There are still games like Sunset Overdrive and Halo 4/5 that haven't seen the light of day on PC. This may change in the near future but I'm not holding my breath. However, I am happy that the PC community now has access to games like Forza Horizon/7/Apex, Killer In...
Agreed. Arkham Knight was the last Batman game being made by Rocksteady and any future Arkham/Batman games would be developed by WB Montreal who developed Arkham Origins. I think Rocksteady has earned the right to pursue other projects. It's a win/win for fans IMO. A new IP from Rocksteady and more games in the Batman universe by other devs.
Looks interesting. Hoping for a decent story, branching quests and dialogue and solid RPG mechanics. The alt. timeline setting and premise are intriguing.
@madforaday I thought Ace of Spades was in THPS 1 or 2, didn't know it was in 3. I liked 3 as well. All 3 games had excellent soundtracks. It's been so many years since I've played them though, it's easy to get them mixed up.
That bad huh? Not even worth $1.99 bad? I would have sworn that there was a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game in development, I might be confusing that with this "HD remaster" however. Loved the 1st two THPS games back in the day, they were tons of fun with killer soundtracks! "If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man, You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed, the only car...
I've never played a MH game before but I'll definitely be checking out MH World. I'm thankful that it's coming to PC as well. Looks like a lot of fun!
