Agreed.

As much as I love the witcher 2,there is just that special something about witcher 1 overall. The gloomy, dark medieval atmosphere was really conveyed well in the first game, down to the music and art style.

I am really hoping Witcher 3 can bring back some of what was missing in the second game.

The devs have already stated it will not be politically centered like witcher 2,although the politics will still be there, playing a minor role...

True but in all honesty it is only a 4 month delay. I believe they said it could of been released sometime in October 2014 but CD Projekt RED felt it needed more polish before release.

I would disagree when it comes to 4A and their Metro series. Some of the best modern games out there IMO.

Why would someone disagree? lol this site really makes me wonder sometimes wth.

I understand disagreeing with it being the best looking directX9 game but there is no arguing that it was dx11,it was dx9.

It was actually DX9 not DX11. If you can believe it. Probably the best looking DX9 game ever made and arguably one of the best looking games created.Period.

Sequel to Metro: Last Light would make me very happy. I thought Nordic games were the ones who bought the darksiders IP? Not deep silver.

One of the main reasons I am looking forward to Lords of the Fallen. I do not see anything wrong with more games being inspired by the souls series.

Feels like a big smack in the face to ensemble studios. I cannot remember exactly why they shut down that studio but either way it was a damn shame. They made some really good games.

Agree 100%.

I am thinking that with the recent announcement of the delay til February 2015, they will hopefully have enough development time to polish the game before release.

As you said though, they do certainly support the game after release. I think we have nothing to worry about.

They are shooting for an additional 50 hours for side quests. 50 hrs main quest/50 hrs side quests plus you will have random encounters,mini-game activities and monster hunting.

IIRC they have used red dead redemption random encounters as an example. Which IMO is a good template for inspiration of random encounters * open-world design done right.

From what I have read, the monster hunting sounds like an evolved, more in depth version of the legendary creatures...

Subjective opinions withstanding...I almost "corrected" you. If it were not for The Witcher 3 being delayed until Feb. 2015,IMO that would of been the best looking game of 2014.

I definitely believe it will be a contender for GOTY and best looking game come 2015.

Agreed. I will be 32 this month and yes, I love to play games just as I did when I was a young teenager.

I've been playing games for over 20 years and some of the changes in the game industry and even more so, with the fans these days is for lack of a better word, disheartening.

Every games has to either be Multiplayer,co-op or in some way mimic whats presently popular or it is a failure in the eyes of fans and/or critics...Depending on who you ask.

Well, the article says watch dogs has 13,000 animations, seems like a pretty good bit if you ask me.

I would highly recommend both games. They are awesome IMO.

To answer your question about Witcher 1 -

The first game is more about the introduction to the world, characters and story. It is a lot more monster focused,as it should be, since witchers are monster hunting badasses! it is their profession, their life.

If you are a graphics whore and/or have issues with older/less refined games, you might not be able to fully enjoy the first game. Al...

A few honorable mentions -
The Witcher 2 on dark and/or insane difficulty.

Insane difficulty has permadeath.Die once and that's it,Game over.

Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on Ranger hardcore mode.

They might not be too hard for some players who are patient, conservative and explore a lot but I can see it being quite hard and frustrating for a lot of gamers not used to survival/realistic gameplay.

Fallout 4,Half-life 3,Beyond good & evil 2 and a sequel to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Make it happen!

Sadly,I can see the first 3 games eventually coming out but with the recent canceling of World of Darkness,My hopes and expectations have gone way down for a sequel or spiritual successor to Bloodlines. It may not be for everyone but IMO I think it is a diamond in the rough/timeless classic.

Almost forgot! Legacy of Kain! The Nosgoth MMO doesn'...

Great! I look forward to reading what you have to say. Good luck on the article.

I agree with the other posters above me who have said Nay to a Fallout MMO. Consider the original classics and the modern versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas...They may have their differences here an there but one thing they all share is that they are single player open-ended RPG's.

Call me a narrow minded a**hole or whatever you like... but I cannot stand this modern trend ( more like epidemic, really) where every single video game, irrelevant of genre, needs to have some ...

I remember when I first grabbed it for the original Xbox back in '04, I had many of the same thoughts & reservations that were brought up in this article. You can imagine my surprised reaction and enjoyment when I realized it was not a mere cheap, badly made movie-videogame cash-in.

Another awesome game from the same year '04 that I feel deserves more recognition ( bugs and all ;) ) is - Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Loved that game. With the recent news of w...
