Except they wouldn't necessarily make more money as they'd likely have drastically lower sales. Microsoft would take the marketing rights for sure and launch day 1 on games pass. This would according to market research cost control at least 10% of its console user base rising to 24% minimum if COD were exclusive to xbox. This actually means that a) Sony sales are worth less to Microsoft than they made out and b) Microsoft has more incentive to foreclose COD than they claimed they did....
Why is it disappointing? They initially tried to take COD on, abd it didn't work- at all. So they decided if you can't beat them, join them. Players choose to buy call of duty in such large numbers year in and year out. The money abd console sales COD provides will go into funding first party studio games.
This isn't true, Sony takes a smaller cut in return for advertising rights etc. Its a win win for activision as it means Sony winds up coving the cost of alot of their marketing too.
It was never an issue in the first place. Sony never intended it to be they probably only gave the option in the hope there might be some people with more money than sense who would be willing to spend 30 quid unlocking a car. If they has seriously wanted microtransactions to make money they would have made cars cost like a couple of pounds to unlock or a fiver maybe even a tenner because then plenty of impatient people woukd have paid tha.
No it won't be huge for the deal that is the how the law works. 1) sonys 3rd party agreements are times and Microsoft does exactly the same thing with titles they have marketing agreements for and ps plus 2) buying a publisher is completely incomparable to 3rd party toned exclusivity deals 3) in law two wrongs don't make a right. Even if sonts actions would be considered anti-competitive that has literally zero bearing on wether or not the activision blizzard acquisition would be anti...
This isn't good for consumers. MS has claimed that gamespass is profitable but there's just no way. It's revenue also year was revealed and we now have confirmation fhst games that launch day 1 on gp sell poorly as expected (why would you buy it when you can subscribe and play it and several other games all year for a similar price?) They also have confirmed they have to compensate game devs launching day and date for the sales they would have expected to get on xbox. So that mean...
Redenption-64 except God of War ragnarok cost about 350-400 million to make and market so it has sold exceptionally well most titles don't even sell half as many as this. Its sold through 11 million units right now assuming an average income to Sony of 55 dollars a unit once you factor in the proportion sold on disc by 3rd party retailers and on ps4 which was 10 dollars cheaper etc. That means that God of war will have made about 550 million dollars in revenue. Now subtract from that the ...
That image is literally from the first fight with thor when he grabs the hammers handle and gets dragged backwards by it and if it isn't its literally indistinguishable from the later fight it definitely isn't a spoiler.
And yet they were the ones invited to talk on BBC radio about this topic.... typical bbc.;;
I might understand if JK zRowlkng was actually anti trans or transphobic buy she isn't.... its all such a load of nonsense.
@venom once you count support studios andbcontrectors this game has well over 1000 devs. Nevermind 300.
They were rarely cheaper, actually if you look you'll see the psn store has more frequent discounts and sales and of a wider number of games than retailers ever had for those cards. The retailers get almost nothing if not nothing for selling those cards it all goes to Sony o actually there is no profitability. Just as if I sell a psn top up card at work all of that money goes to Sony. Places stock them in hope customers come in and abut one and also end up buying other stuff or buy a con...
The cma mentions pc. This figure almost certainly excludes oc players so evidently MS is being totally disingenuous.
Yeah the CMA haven't fallen for it. They specifically mention Windows OS and xbl ans games pass on pc in their report.
^THIS, that figure counted PC Users that used games pass of xbl on pc and anyone using x cloud via a TV. Now they are trying to use figures for consoles only.
This figure is completely disingenuous. Yes in terms of monthly CONSOLE USERS but not once you factor in games pass and xbl users on pc. No it does nit infact MS has more I belive based on figures released last month....
That image is from the first few hours....
They are completely different bodies (although they cooperate) the British regulator called out loot boxes and even had it discussed in Parliament before the eu did though I might add) although that is a different regulator...
@computesci
Guarantee its in the small print that games pass day 1 is the exception and that is why Sony said to the eu regulator that MS were not offering parity.
No COD is the number one best selling game on PlayStation and xbox and pc every year. Not the top 3, the number 1 and has been I believe since GTA V released some 10 years ago. It was also the best selling title for a good 5 years prior to gta v releasing. Once you factor in god of war ragnarok's reported 350 million dollar budget you can see even with smaller % cut that they make a similar amount of profit on COD, plus the marketing arrangement means it helps Sony shift consoles to load...
