Console fanboys don't ever make much sense. Each console has its own strengths. Brawlers like NMH or MadWorld have a niche on Wii -- either black and white or cel-shaded graphics (more art style than polygon pushing), and gesture controls. They're unique, and wouldn't feel right on the 360 or PS3 (much like how Bioshock just wouldn't have felt right on Wii; that game needed the superior graphics for its overall feel).
Well, it worked for Majora's Mask. Most under-appreciated Zelda game ever.
I love the series. Twilight Princess kept me entertained for weeks. But essentially, I had played the game before. All the gameplay mechanics go back to OoT. They're going to have to reinvent the wheel a bit gameplay-wise, or perhaps a new villain might help. I kinda agree with the writer -- LoZ:TP would've been better overall if Zant had been the main attraction. IMO, of course.
Well put. The DS analogy is perfect. Remember when everyone said Chinatown Wars was a failure?

580,000 copies sold now, and it's consistent from week to week. That's for a top-down GTA game, when everyone wants a 3D version.
The same thing happened on Wii for No More Heroes:

Sure, Murderdolls. That's why Twilight Princess sold 5 million copies ( http://www.vgchartz.com/gam... and why SMG and SSBB sold 8 million a piece ( http://www.vgchartz.com/gam... http://www.vgchartz.com/gam......
True. A black & white, beat 'em up isn't exactly commercial/blockbuster territory right now, and there's a glut of rail shooters on Wii.
But still, it looks like MadWorld has sold 230,000 copies:

That doesn't mean a PS4 by next year, but maybe in two or three, which puts it at mid-life right now and gives it a five or six-year run as current-gen tech (and that's about average...doesn't mean it will be obsolete, as the PS2 has certainly had sales legs -- Stacy Keibler-esque legs, actually). You may be right that the PS3 will last for another ...
Same here. GoW3 being GoW2 with new paint -- and gore -- is still a hell of a game (and will be a GoTY contender), but it's kinda hard to get blown away by it. Same way with any sequel that doesn't really innovate. I'll be happy, but not blown away, if the next Zelda has the same OoT mechanics I've played to death. Sure, it'll be fun. But it'll be fun I've had before.
Cenobia -- No, I haven't read most of CP's posts. I'm new here. But I think it's a valid point to look at the life cycle of this gen's consoles. That's all.
The full details of what profit any of the big three are turning is on-going, but I think it's safe to say the PS3 took a bigger loss per unit than something like the Wii (with its far less sophisticated hardware), which has probably been in the black for a long, long time now.
It's not just being in third pla...
Spoony -- There's a few review outliers (and some that deserve to be ignored, like GamePro's), but mid-70's to mid-80's seems to be par for the course. Which is to say Conduit is a good, fun game. Not spectacular, but solid.
SL1M -- There was about as much time in CP's post about the length of a console's lifespan as there were "slams" on Sony: two remarks in one set of parentheses (and I don't know why anyone would say the next PS will have the exact same GPU or RAM specs; it's common sense to point out what will be changed).
I don't think it's a slam to say Sony probably wants this gen over more than Microsoft or Nintendo. If you're in last place, why would you want to stretch that out? ...
"If you're looking for the Wii's definitive FPS, this isn't it."
No, it probably isn't. But it's the first Wii FPS to absolutely NAIL the controls and have a respectable online component to go with it. You have to walk before you run. HVS can only go up from this point, and if other dev teams are taking notes, too, then a "definitive Wii FPS" shouldn't be far off.
Of course, the Metroid Prime trilogy is on the way, too...
Syronicus -- You're completely ignoring the main point of his comment: the length of console generations.
Unless you're arguing that this gen will last much, much longer than the last one, I don't see the point.
Following CP's logic, the days of this gen are numbered (personally, I agree on that point). So if we see a new round of consoles, what do you expect? The exact same GPU and RAM for a PS4? That makes no sense at all.
Sounded pretty fair to me, especially the part about the storyline (outside of Bioshock, I can't think of an FPS this gen with a plot that has been truly great).
The controls are the best so far this gen for a FPS, very good online component, and decent graphics (good details on the weapons and enemies, but not so much on the backgrounds).
It's a "B" game. Not AAA, and not mind blowing, but still solid.
Sure, it might have a tough time selling. They're watering down a third-person franchise and throwing it on rails. However, it worked for Resident Evil, so there's a precedent for some amount of success.
If they'd just make more RE4-esque games for Wii, though, the world would be a better place...
Syronicus -- Geez, lighten up. You call that trolling? CP has a valid point about the length of console generations.
Yes, Sony has the most advanced graphics right now, and at some vague point in future will have a motion controller. But how does that change them being in last place of console sales while we're so deep into this generation? Launching new peripherals during the last years of a console's prime temporarily perks up sales, but it doesn't launch you from third pla...
Might have to pop in the original when I get home from work. I can't wait for this one. Be interesting to see how the storyline is played out for ranked battles, since a big chunk of the first one's plot was Sylvia being a con.
swiftshot93 -- Retro's next project and M+ Zelda is definitely enough to keep me interested in Wii.
Metroid: OM, NMH2, Shatterd Memories, SMG2, Red Steel 2, Grinder...that's all just icing on the cake. Metroid Prime Trilogy is going to rock, too. And we might get a good sequel to Conduit.
Yeah, "Giant Bomb" also gave Conduit a 4/10. Add Edge in, and you have four reviews under 7/10...
...and 18 at -- or above -- 70.
Those giving the game a failing grade are definitely in the minority. The majority consensus is that it's a solid, if unspectacular, game.
