Seriously, how can anyone give disagrees on this?
Iwata admitted that the Zelda team felt some pressure after seeing Tri.

vhero -- The Wii absolutely cannot match the PS3 or 360 in terms of raw horsepower. Lower resolution and fewer onscreen polys are a given. But it can still make gorgeous games. Prime 3 is, IMO, proof that level design/geometry and art style trump powerful tech. And there's always Okami.
SL1M -- There are plenty of very pretty games on Wii. If a high onscreen poly count is all that matters to you, we're never gonna see eye to eye on what makes for a great game.
Yep. That's why I'm still worried about this game. Ubi better not screw this one up.
Zelda is the biggest of big N's big guns.
I expect the next LoZ to push the Wii to its absolute breaking point, just like TP did on the GC.
But Motion+ will be the most important thing for this game, IMO.
It comes down to this -- whoever is on top gets the most fanboy hate.
Last gen, the PS2 was the least powerful of the "big three" consoles, sold the most hardware, and still got a massive amount of hate (especially from shooter fans who thought Sony couldn't compete with anything Bungie made) despite having a fantastic library of games.
This gen, it's the Wii.
Comes with the territory, I guess. If Microsoft "wins" next gen, they'll b...
Arius -- Oh, no offense taken at all. I love LoZ:TP as much as anyone, but the motion controls WERE tacked on. It was a GC game that got delayed a year to bolt on motion controls. I think it truly did work for most of the time, but those controls felt like what they were...at best, launch title technology.
You're spot-on with music games. If there is any genre that is competing with WWII shooters for oversaturation, music games are it.
...and finally, Other M. W...
The least they could've done is given us more than pre-Beta screen shots.
But it's not like Activision did much to push W@W on Wii, and it sold well anyway. They're probably banking on the same thing happening.
And I doubt they want to take much attention away from MW2. COD4 is already a blockbuster and they've already made a ton of cash on it; the Wii port is just icing on the cake at this point. Now they want to make sure MW2 is just as big.
That s...
I'm hopeful for a AAA-level title, but I'm wary of Ubi screwing this up.
That said...if they nail this game, that means they will have nailed the controls and cel-shaded style. If that's the case, they do have XIII just laying around waiting for a sequel...
I don't share your harsh opinion on COD:MW's merits (especially since MW2 hasn't even been released), but I agree about the Prime trilogy and other developers laziness.
You can beat COD4 in an afternoon in under six hours.
Any one of the Prime trilogy can take you 15 to 30 hours.
COD certainly has Metroid beat hands down with multiplayer, of course, but I don't think multiplayer alone makes a game "cinematic."
In fact, I'll take an...
I can't see how Nintendo's "big three" are oversaturated.
Other M is the first Metroid of its kind since Super Metroid in 1994.
Zelda may not see release until late 2010 or sometime in 2011; that will be 4 or 5 years after Twilight Princess, which was a GC port. There hasn't been a proper Wii Zelda yet.
Mario? NSMB will be the first console 2D Mario platformer in a long, long, loooooooooooong time.
Galaxy 2 will probably get a release 3...
It's strange how they leave out the quotes about Sega saying they're pleased with the overall sales of HotD, Conduit and MadWorld.
[And they conveniently leave out that Chinatown Wars has gone on to sell over half a million copies and counting; DS games usually don't launch huge, they have long legs.]
But look at some of games:
MadWorld was a 6-hour long, black and white brawler.
Extraction was a 6-hour long rail shooter.
HotD was another rai...
O2_Addict -- That would make sense if COD had failed spectacularly on Wii. But it hasn't. W@W sold quite well, and was actually one of the reasons Activision decided to go ahead with a COD4 port.
Maddens Raiders -- "How can you blame IW for speaking the truth on this one?"
Ummm...because it's not really truth?
Metroid Prime 3 was plenty beautiful, quite lengthy, and the most cinematic of all the Prime trilogy. If that's what IW is aiming for...
IW wants to do PC and HD console stuff. That's not a secret.
But Activision will ultimately decide on what gets done, just like they did with the COD4 port for Wii, and IW will deal with it. Case in point:
"Infinity Ward did play a role in development: They gave the engine code last year. The engine performance is under Infinity Ward's supervision."
As mentioned already...no, IW didn't write the book on FPS.
And Conduit was a small budget indie shooter. Its online was decent, but the single player wasn't.
But Metroid Prime 3 didn't have any problem delivering a beautiful and lengthy single player campaign, did it?
If IW doesn't want to spend the time developing for Wii, that's their prerogative. Saying they want to develop exclusively on HD consoles and PC is perfectly valid.
But maki...
5/10. Youch.
GP gave it 80 (but didn't seem to realize there's more than one control option), and this one says the game has a lack of depth. That's kinda bound to happen with arcade racers, though.
I wanna see a few more reviews on this one.
NSMB is a given. Well all know it's gonna rock.
I'm actually more interested in seeing the COD4 port. The graphics will take a hit, but if they combined the Conduit's controls with a better online component and better single player, it'll be worth it, IMO. I'll take better controls over eye candy any day.
...but not seeing any gameplay vids at this point bothers the hell out of me.
I wasn't a Zelda nut until I sunk 70 hours into Twilight Princess. I don't know what it is about the series...but it has something special that isn't easily described.
Just look at E3 reactions this year for Galaxy 2 and Other M, and compare that to the absolute roar that TP got when it debuted.
One factor is the rarity of LoZ. We usually have to wait a long time for the games -- there have only been 7 console Zeldas in 23 years.
[Heck, there have been...
LoZ:TP is a helluva pretty GC game. The water effects, the distance you can see on Hyrule field, the sepia-toned/particle-drenched Twilight realm...it honestly didn't look bad for a 2006 effort, even on far less powerful hardware.
I'm biased for TP, though, because I only experienced OoT in passing when it was released. TP was the first Zelda game I played to completion in a loooooooooooooooooong time.
But after downloading OoT and MM, you can definitely see the te...
Mastiff -- I sure got some frustrating lag on Worldwide matches, to the point where I simply stopped playing them.
But whenever I stick to Regional play (which I don't imagine means a radius of a few blocks), it's been just fine.
That said, there's no reason to spawn in a wall a quarter of the time. And the online cheaters were rampant for awhile.
There have been 7 console Zeldas.
In 23 years.
There have been 6 console GTA games (excluding expansion packs, PSP ports and downloadable content).
In 12 years.
...and we actually haven't even seen a ground-up Wii Zelda, anyway.
