Yep. There are few things more reliable than the quality of Zelda. It's one franchise Nintendo doesn't screw around with.

That said...if it's basically Twilight Princess with a revised combat system (Motion+), I wonder how people are gonna react. I'd love it, but a lot of people hated on TP.

lol

Yeah, you're probably right about that, hatch. Ya caught me.

I do wonder, though...if this pretty much guarantees a new console from Nintendo in 2011. I mean, they're firing all of their biggest guns at once. Once Zelda drops, what else is there to really look forward to on Wii?

It's gonna be pretty hard to top 2007. Bioshock, COD4, SMG and Prime 3 were all-time greats. Toss in Halo 3, too, for fans of that series.

But Nintendo releasing all three of its big guns in one year? That alone makes this year notable.

Toss in Bioshock 2, GOW3, MH:Tri, Reach...the list goes on and on.

...if you own all three consoles, kiss your money goodbye this year.

Literally got chills reading this.

They better not have effed up the translation.

New Mario, new Metroid, AND new Zelda all in the same year? Has Nintendo ever done that before?

Shh...no talking sense allowed.

RE did fine with the RE4 port and RE:UC. RE:DC didn't open huge (big surprise), so the world is ending on internet message boards.

...that is, until Tri drops and adds to its million-plus selling, and then we'll hear different stuff out of Capcom, causing more verbal diarrhea on these boards.

Sorry Mario, but bob is once again doing that annoying thing he does...talking sense.

Publishers aren't there just to put their names on a box. Wikipedia actually has a good section on this:

"As with book publishers or publishers of DVD movies, video game publishers are responsible for their product's manufacturing and marketing, including market research and all aspects of advertising."

It doesn't appear the game is doing terribly well overall, though.

It boggles my mind that ANYone would think this game was going to be a sales juggernaut, though. I remember reading how surprised people were about RE:...

Well, it's a sales article, too. It's kind hard to argue on sales.

Nintendo doing so well doesn't surprise me. THIS surprises me:

Over half a million already for a two-year old port?

Don't get me wrong, I love that game. I'm just surprised at those numbers. Maybe third parties will start realizing "oh, maybe we should give Wii owne...

Pretty much my thoughts, exactly.

I wouldn't say good riddance totally, because they're capable of making great RE4-type games.

But what you said on the bait-and-switch thing is entirely true. RE4 sold pretty much the same on Wii as it did on GC (which is saying something for an old port). RE:UC over performed, so I can see why they'd think "hey, lets do that again." But it seems like Capcom forgot that we aren't in the lightgun arcade era anymore. That...

Umbrella Chronicles sold over a million.
http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...

Kinda hard to complain about sales when you've already put out one niche rail shooter that has sold very well. But nooooooooo. It's the "Wii's audience is casual," not "the Wii's audience already has a very, very similar game, and has wanted an RE4-type sequel since launch."

I don't...

I think Nintendo is quite creative. They just have utilized their creativity in other areas, possibly at the expense of plot in LoZ.
(That said, I thought Twilight Princess had a very good story.)

Big N has sort of backed themselves into a corner -- the LoZ myth is almost always restricted to Link vs. Gannon (when they do step out of that scenario, like in Majora's Mask, the results have been great). As long as that's the template, we're just going to see variations on th...

One little follow up...it's kinda hard for Sega to be disappointed in HotD:Overkill's sales.

http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...

VGC isn't terribly accurate for first week/month sales, but their life-to-date sales are usually very close.

If Sega was expecting to get more than half a million (in under a year's time) out of an M-rated rail shooter, they're out of their min...

Activision has pretty much put out a new COD every year for Wii.

Capcom will probably keep up with Resident Evil (hopefully we get a proper TPS soon).

EA put Dead Space out, but we'll have to see what they do next (or what they may plan for MoH).

And then there's Ubi with NMH2 this month.

But I wouldn't put it past Sega to try more mature Wii stuff. The article references that the titles they've put out HAVE been profitable. They can't kee...

To Sega's credit, they did put some commercials out for MadWorld and Conduit. And Conduit did alright in its first month for being a new IP by an indie developer. But they didn't follow through, then waited too long to give the game a price drop.

With MadWorld...that game was just not going to be huge. It's not a mainstream game. The Clover/Platinum team didn't get huge sales with Viewtiful Joe 1 or 2, or Okami, either. Maybe they break the losing streak with Bayonetta.

Decent review. An 85 is exactly what I would give this game (if the original was a 95 or so, chop off 5 points for the visuals, and 2.5 each for no voice chat and fewer players).

I'll never understand those who think the remote/nunchuck are inferior to dual analog, though. Diff'rent strokes, I guess. But I think it's much more precise to shrink down your bounding box and max your turning speed on Wii.

:sigh: I miss playing this game.

I find it a bit odd that they use a rail shooter, a niche brawler, and an indie dev's first original IP as their litmus test for the console. None of those titles were destined for big sales.

-- HotD is in a genre that just doesn't generally sell huge numbers.
-- MadWorld, being a 6-hour long black-and-white brawler with no replay factor, was aimed at a small audience (and Platinum/Clover have had this problem before).
-- Conduit was a good first effort, but it could...

Same here. Day-one purchase for me.

The trailers are absolutely nuts, so I can only imagine what else Suda and co. are leaving for us to find ourselves.

I'd bump up Dues Ex and Half Life 2 over WoW (then swap GTA up higher than WoW). But that's just me.

...but no Metroid Prime? Are you kidding me? Sure, we all have our opinions, but even if I don't like games like WoW, I can understand putting it in the top 10. But one of the great 3D transitions of all time doesn't even make the list?

Good call of putting Metroid Fusion at 11. Fantastic game that no one seems to remember.

Yep. 2010 is stacked for Wii.

And I think Other M probably WILL be released in 2010. Maybe Destructoid has some inside info, but it sounds like the idea for Other M was hatched fairly early in the Wii's life cycle:
http://www.1up.com/do/previ...

...at least I hope it will be. I'm super-hyped for the first 3D third-person Metroid.
