I really wonder what the 2010 holiday release will be. If they hold off on Mario until late spring or summer, would they dare to release Other M for the holidays?
Don't get me wrong, it's actually what I want, since I'm a huge Metroid fan and would love to see the series get the sales it truly deserves. But it has never put up Mario/Zelda numbers.
(I'm assuming Zelda will be 2011. It's the last big gun Nintendo has to fire, so they're going to hold off on it for a...
"Nintendo need to bring out a new character, instead of giving a 30 year old character new adventures that doesn't even suit him."

Dedicated Mario platformers are pretty rare -- the Wii is the first to get two 3D Super Marios. He appears in mascot games all the time, but for his own platformers, Mario shows up less than the constant cycle of COD or NFS (heck, Halo and GTA are over saturated compared to actual Mario platformers this gen and last). Every ...
"What a horrible night to have a curse."
Oh, how I dreaded reading that. I bought Castlevania II on VC a few weeks ago, and the nostalgia factor was off the charts the first time that popped up.
Well, Heroes' Paradise will need to find a Western publisher first.

Personally, I wouldn't want to play the game on any console but Wii (its combat system is custom-tailored fo...
Kinda hard to put much stock in a review that says the game's concept is to "Put the final nail in the Crystal Chronicles coffin (I hope)."
...if you want the series to die, I wouldn't expect anything other than a bad review.
EDIT: rhood beat me to it on the reactions to the list (it's easy to miss if you're just looking by rank, but it's a countdown by year).
And honestly, it's hard to argue with the order they're in, anyways. Regarding the UC2 vs. Crysis debate, I'd say art style matters as much as how photo-realistic the graphics are. That's how the games on the list from earlier in the decade still look so good (and why lots of people were so wowed by UC2). "Realistic" games can age b...
That's how I felt initially, too.
But you could argue that Prime 1 and 2 weren't "released" on Wii before. They were available via backward compatability, but not with the enhancements, most notably the revised control scheme, which VASTLY improves both games (that were already incredible to begin with).
I love MWR, but I was playing Trilogy last night...and it's just amazing how good those games are. Even visually -- the 7-year old Prime port looks far s...
It's a MUCH better example (as are plenty of other gems from the PS2 era that didn't do huge numbers) overall, but for this year, MadWorld is the token under appreciated brawler, I guess.
The reviews for Shattered Memories are all over the place, but most of the reader reviews I've seen are glowing. I think I'll have to end up purchasing it now.
Also good to see the even-handed tackling of Conduit. It's not a bad game at all. But IGN over hyped that sucker to high hell. With bland art design and a game-killing multiplayer bug (damn you, wall spawn!), it wasn't the game changer it was made out to be. But there are worse things than not living up to your potent...
Lots of people hate on VGC, but I think those awards are spot-on. It's hard to argue with NSMB; Nintendo can make a great 2D platformer in their sleep.
The shooter category is a tough one -- the two best games aren't new. But COD4 was seeing its first release on Wii, while we'd already had Metroid...although not Prime 1 and 2 with pointer controls. I guess I'd have to give it to 'Troid, too (although I really do love COD:MWR).
I'd put TW10 as the top sports game (...
The comments on MadWorld:
"If someone tells you that an upcoming Wii title is going to make the console a destination for mature gamers, take them to Gamestop and point at the unsold stacks of MadWorld. People expected a revolution out of this gory beat 'em up and it only managed to sell 60K copies in its first month on the shelves. While it's a gory game, there's more to the game than just over-the-top executions. The comic book-style graphics, visceral combat, and deft sto...
Well, to be fair, NSMB is Nintendo's latest big release, and some grilling on Wii Music is expected after its reception and sales.
But it's a journalistic responsibility to bug Miyamoto about Zelda (at least twice). And Pikmin.
I understand the questions he gets about the Super Guide...but I really don't get why it's a big deal to people. Heck, there were hints in Metroid Prime, and no one cared.
Some of those screens look really nice.
But complimentary GI previews are nothing new. The review score will be another matter entirely.
That said, I've wanted a good flying game for awhile (Blazing Angels just didn't quite make the grade, IMO). Hopefully this one delivers.
I can understand people who haven't played Animal Crossing before digging what it has to offer, but there's no way it's in the overall upper echelon of Wii games, IMO.
COD:WAW over COD:MWR is a stretch.
The rest of the list is cool by me, except I'd swap out GH for TW10. PES is a good addition.
Wow, news from 2005.

Heck, Ubisoft says Red Steel 2 will have parts locked at 85 FPS, and that's on Wii.
http://wii.ign.com/articles...
So sure, 120 FPS on the PS3 will happen (it's only been a matter of when for a long time).
Kinda dodged the "why did you pick Retro to do this?" question. But otherwise, good stuff.
I'd love to see another Prime game make its way to the DS.
Echoes got a lot of hate because people thought the light/dark dynamic was too generic. It's also one of the most challenging games released last gen (this gen, too), so people gave up half way. Then add to that how it had to follow up Prime (a game most in the industry thought was a lost cause half way through; Echoes, by comparison, was hyped big time on the GC).
It's taken 5 years and a re-release with a new control scheme, but it looks like people are finally starting to ap...
I'd put RC Pro-Am on that list. I used to stay up all night playing it.
Then again...we already know "where the heck" it is -- right alongside Goldeneye, another gem from Rare.
Good list, IMO. A few years ago, I would've said GTA3 was the most influential game of the decade, and by a pretty wide margin.
But Nintendo switched things up, and lately consoles have become very FPS-centric.
[The unfortunate side effect is that we have a whole lot of "casual" titles that don't live up to the depth in Nintendo's own games (let alone anything to compete with big N's own core titles), and we have a glut of mediocre FPS in between Modern Wa...
I was about to say the same thing.
It's the first proper third-person console Metroid since 1994, and the first 3D third-person console Metroid to boot.
And it's a joint Nintendo/Team Ninja game.
...hell, I love Galaxy, and SMG2 will be a day-one purchase, but I'm MUCH more hyped for Other M.
