Interesting. More on the falling out between Samus and Malkovich?

Hope we get some gameplay footage soon. These teases are killing me.

I'm sure there will be a few...but negative articles seem to attract more fanboy angst.

Eh, what can ya do?

"It's natural that at this point in the lifecycle, going in to our fifth year, that we're probably not going to sell as many units next year as we sold this year. That's the course of a cyclical business. But that's not to say that we can't continue to sell a lot of units for a long period of time."
----------------------

I don't see how this is news, or really any sort of headline.

It's common sense.

Matt Casamassina said the same thing -- the screenshots don't do the game justice.

Oddly, the same thing happened with Corruption before it was released.
(Two different developers, same little issue.)

Yoshio Sakamoto's first lecture to a Western audience is a bit of a big deal, IMO.

Might get some new info on Other M. ...new trailer?

"We would've much preferred a trade-off of 3D movement for full shooting controls - or even better, a nunchuck-Wii Remote pointer setup which would allow both 3D movement and full control of Samus's projectiles. Because at the moment walking into a room and thoughtlessly spamming the fire button until all enemies are dead just doesn't cut it."
------------

That's what I've been thinking, too. But, to be fair, in the 2D Metroids, spamming the fire button (and espe...

But that isn't really new with Nintendo. They have always had lulls in their release schedule. It just wasn't as noticeable when they weren't the market leader.

As a result, they are releasing more games than usual (three dedicated Marios, two Zeldas, two Metorids plus a compilation). But this being Nintendo, they're still taking their time making them.

Grr...there's just too many good titles out there. I'll have to pass on S&P2 for a first-day purchase because M:OM releases soon after it.

But I can't wait to play S&P2; it looks like some ridonkulous fun.

"Holding the Wii Remote sideways like a NES pad, the majority of your play will be spent running through areas of a dilapidated space station in 3D, while the dynamic camera will sometimes position itself like a classic 2D Metroid game."

Why so many other outlets can't give as succinct and clear a definition of this game's viewpoint(s) is beyond me.

Can't wait. Hopefully there's a GDC trailer that shows more action outside of the first s...

"Before we go hands-on with the Team Ninja-developed Metroid: Other M at Nintendo's European Gamers Summit..."
----------

Pfft. It's not a Team Ninja game, it's a Project M (Nintendo R&D1, Team Ninja, D-Rockets) game.

But I think the concerns on the controls are legit. But odds are, the reason you can't move in first person is that the rooms were thought out for third-person 3D, and moving around with full FPS mechanics probably would have meant...

"To be honest, as a control scheme the first-person mode is somewhat problematic. Because the player loses the ability to move as soon as first-person is engaged and it’s not easy or practical to flip the Wiimote from one-handed vertical operation to two-handed horizontal on the fly, it’s only really good for scanning objects and sniper fire, at the end of a long hallway. But in the game’s very first boss fight, I needed missiles – so I had to do just that, flipping back and forth. I bea...

I've never understood people complaining about Nintendo this gen when they're doing what they've always done -- making games that appeal to a wide audience, and taking their time in making those games.

That's been Ninendo's SOP forever. The genius of a Mario game is that it's accessible to a newcomer, but has enough depth for more dedicated gamers. Ditto Zelda. Metroid...well, depth has never been a problem there, lol. They've tried to make it more accessible, starting with t...

Holy. Crap.

That is positively stuffed with win. For anyone who ever played Super Metroid, it's a frickin' glorious sight to see the last battle in a cinematic like this.

Look again. The wiki link lists them in chronological order in the text, and in order of the game's releases on the right sidebar.

I completely agree with you. I don't have the time or money to make playing games an outright lifestyle. I won't be able to buy S&P2 or SMG2 on launch, because my gaming budget is pretty skimpy, and the money I have right now is reserved for RS2 and Metroid. And it's going to take me months to beat them both.

I'll put in a few marathon sessions when I can (most recently with COD:MWR). Then I'll go a week without playing at all.

Wired.com: I think people were really interested to know, are they going to release Mario and Metroid and Zelda all in one year?

Dunaway: And you said we wouldn’t. You bet no, right?

Wired.com: I bet no. Are you going to hold me to that? Do I owe you a steak dinner?

Dunaway: I think you do.

Wired.com: I’m happy to lose that bet. Those are the kind of bets that I try to make.

That's what I'm wondering. Retro has been VERY quiet. Whatever they're working on must be a megaton bomb waiting to go off.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wii's successor unveiled in the (relatively) near future, for a release in 2011 or 2012. Maybe not E3, though.

It's a good time to be a Wii owner. I don't have enough money to keep up with all of the good games coming out. Probably have to keep SMG2 and S&P2 on the shelf, 'cause nothing is keeping me a...

Umm...ask some of the 140 million people who "are not the core game consumer" who bought the PS2 how often they played it. What, people think ALL of those PS2's went into the hands of the "core"?

Why the bizarre double standard? Some people buy ...
