and IMO they should have dropped the price when sony introduced the 40 gig $399 ps3. I guess MS doesn't want Sony to dictate when they should drop their prices.

well if you go by awards, it was COD4 last year, which also happens to have the best graphics on ps3. both 640p ggrrrr...

then a HDD is NOT needed and the 360 arcade at $199 is the sweetest price and would be perfect.
there are over 18 million 360's sold, with only about 11 million on LIVE. believe that there are alot people that dont want or can't play online.
IF sony drops its price again this year, that would be a HUGE sign of desparation and fear of the 360.
Sony has won the format war, and the ps3 is the cheapest blu-ray with profile 2.0 on the market, when you add in Sony's biggest games are being released this year, and the fact they already had two major price drops in its first year, you have to wonder what reason besides being scared of the 360 would Sony drop the price on the ps3 if in fact it does have so much going for it...

anyways, i'm 32 and I got a PRO for my kid that comes every other weekend, and if the arcade drops to $199 here in the US, i would definitely buy it so we can play online against each other.

360 - HDD not needed to play games. SO many AAA games for the 360 rated above 90 on metacritic and not one game says you NEED a HDD. Yeah, it could have been easier on dev if it had one, but the FACT is that games are developed on the 360 for play on both with and without a HDD.

the momemtum of the PS3 in america started with the $399 sku that came out. People that were looking for a 360 elite or pro could view the PS3 as more value for their momey because they get the blu-ray player.

They have already gone on record saying they will have enough 360's in store selves come GTA4 time. Whatever supply problems they have, have already been fixed, or will be come April.
They are BANKING and waiting to see how and if GTA4 affect console sales. Its their one-two punch, $199 (mass market sweet spot) plus GTA4 with exclusive DLC (most likely best selling game of the year)
