your right, because judging by the sales of the last MGS game, Sony needed insurance to make sure this game sells to keep it away from the 360.
i'm kinda like you, sometimes i have the urge, but since i already own a 360, i just can not bring myself to buy a ps3. Both consoles produce similar looking games, with few exclusives separating them.
but i would be wanting a blu-ray player one day, and its funny that the cheapest and only one that is future proof (online enabled) is the ps3. those be some smart guys at sony!!!
yep, it will be hard to compete with ps3 this holiday season, but then again M$ and Nintendo have different strategies.
Nintendo is not really competing, because they have the casual market cornered and won, at least for this coming holiday season it will still be #1.
and the 360 will hopefully have the mass market sweet spot price that history shows is when EVERY console in the past has sold the majority. $199 (i'm a 360 supporter but even i know big price drop ...
from what we can all gather ps3 have a shortage of memory, do you guys really think Sony is going to wait another 6-7 years for their next gen? if anybody has the tech to built another reliable next gen system, its SOny. look at how much momentum Xbox got this gen and how many sonyfans turned to the green-side. i just seriously doubt Sony is gonna wait 2 or 3 years after M$ realeses their next gen in 2010 to then releases their ps4.
so, if Sony really does release every 6 years, that means we should be expecting PS4 around 2012.
So if M$ releases their next system in 09 or 2010, your talking a difference of 2-3 years before the next gen playstation comes out.

yep, i would prefer 09 also. Bring on the 720 but keep the 360 around to capture the whole market like Sony is doing right now with ps2 and 3.
being i had a 360 since launch of 05..... 09 seems just about right for me. Technology is moving way too fast.

Gears plays great at 30fps.
GTA4 will play at 30 fps.
so how come a game like COD4 that looks better than both those games run steady at 60 fps on both 360/ps3?

and with blu-ray, they really did secure themselves for the long run.... looks like another ps2, and in the long run Sony could win again, but no way will it be selling like the ps2. Wii and the 360 took alot of ps2 customers.
i bought my 360 on launch, nov 2005.
i really hope they come out with a new console in nov 2009.
that way they have what Sony has now, the budget system, and the PS3.

this article is right, with blu-ray victory, and great line-up this year, a $399 ps3 with 6 free blu-ray movies is too good a deal to turn around and buy a 360 pro at $349 plus $50 for one year of LIVE, total als $399.
i really dont know what M$ is waiting for. the minute there was a $399 ps3 out, it was time to drop the prices on all 360 sku's. you just can't have the 2 consoles priced so closely when ps3 h...

You want the truth, go check out metacritic.com, and then go see who has the highest rated games to date, and how many more multi-plat games are superior on 360. Its makes you understand why the 360 games keep winning GOTY awards since launch

i've always been one to bash HOME, as to not understanding how anyone can actually be looking forward to it, but it is FREE, so to bash something innovative that is actually FREE doesn't make sense.
all in all, if it stays free, that would be good news for XBOX LIVE because competition is what drives the industry, and if HOME can do what LIVE does with a little extra, then M$ will have no choice but to drop the price completelyy.
the only reason this topic keeps coming up is because the MGS series has never been Playstation exclusive and has been on the gamecube and xbox. so what makes this game any different? unless Sony finaly paid them off. Would make sense being PS3 doesn't have a single exclusive game higher than 90% on metacritic.com. hahaha
