The story is excellent actually but also not for everyone. If you are into surrealism though (stuff like Twin Peaks for example) this game is a must play. It's plot isn't entirely coherent, but that's what makes it so creepy. It feels almost like you are playing a fever dream.
@bouzebbal Aren't you being a bit unfair here. I mean I kinda doubt S2Killinit is Dick Cheney. He has no say in what his government does. As an American with absolutely no influence on anyone myself, I can honestly say I don't approve of cultural assimilation when my government does it or when anyone else's does it either.
Also, let's be honest, just about every government that can be shitty on the world stage will be, so get off your high horse. Unless of ...
It’s just all there is to get hyped about if you are an RPG fan. Pretty much every other studio has fallen on their face when releasing in that genre over the last ten years.
No hype for Bethesda, CDPR, and BioWare because of terrible releases. Square Enix has been mediocre for years. From Software is one of the last studios out there you can just trust. Let’s hope that doesn’t change with this game.
In other news, Todd Howard says, “And it just works.”
It’s called Eden Prime for a reason. I can’t imagine people would be willing to move to the new Earth Colony if it were called MegaDeath 7 and had a poop brown atmosphere.
While they misled gamers with their marketing and should be called out for it, CyberPunk wasn’t nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.
If Bethesda had released this game before they finally fell to earth after Fallout 76, everyone would have shrugged their shoulders and waited for a few patches.
CDPR are literally victims of their own success here. Everyone wanted another Witcher 3 and they instead got a buggy Deus Ex. Thing is, Deus Ex isn’t ...
Good thing to. This will give Phil something to exaggerate about for years to come.
I can’t speak for NMS but I don’t think the comparison to CyberPunk is merited. CyberPunk is a half baked and buggy game that can become good.
Anthem was just another excuse to force players into a live service microtransaction filled looter shooter. It’s story only existed to trick players in to getting that first fix.
I can understand the frustration people feel with CDPR but comparing these two games is dangerous. EA wants to dumb down the whole indu...
Strat-edgy on youtube talks about this in his review of the game. The problem is that they had all of the hardcore rpg fans thinking it would be more like a CRPG with branching narratives and player agency. Instead they made it like a modern Bioware rpg. The story is decent, but it was very misleading. I liked the story telling in this game, but I can certainly see why people were disappointed.
@Foxtrot I can't help but think that some of the rage directed at the company should go towards all of those day one reviewers and the gamers that fall for their nonsense. Don't get me wrong. CDPR needs to be held accountable for its misleading marketing. However, at the end of the day this manipulative launch would never have happened if the Day One reviews hadn't put the game at a 93 on Metacritic.
I ultimately played it on PC and, while I enjoyed it, it was ...
I guess "being a gamer" yourself, you feel qualified to belittle everyone else who doesn't share your own opinion. Good to see you fit right in with the rest of us then despite your pedestrian tastes. Ubisoft is better than EA, but not by much. Their games are just bland. They use the same open world sand box mechanics in every title. The
most recent games have boring plots that seem like they were thrown together by a group of managers at a table.
...
I originally thought the same thing in 2020.
Let’s hope this is the year for Dying Light 2 and Bloodlines 2.
This is not the worst launch ever. With that statement, you just proved that gamers often don’t remember these things.
As bad as it’s release was on consoles, it is playable on PC albeit with a few problems.
Hell, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines launched with a broken main quest line that made the game impossible to complete and now it’s considered a classic.
What does liking an EA game have to do with this discussion of CDPR? I get that EA didn't screw up that one time, but seriously, don't start spinning the narrative that EA are the good guys now. Nothing has changed. They just want to lure more suckers in again before the next god awful GAAS Star Wars game.
That's the one major difference between CDPR and these other publishers, Cyberpunk isn't designed around bleeding microtransactions out of the player. Fro...
Absolutely. We need more reviews like this. I don’t think CDPR should get a pass for this game, but I also think that reviewers have a responsibility to identify the games that are worth saving.
As an example, Fallout 76 was an aberration from the beginning. Even if they fixed all the bugs it would still be a bad fallout game. A game like Andromeda however could have benefited from some meaningful DLC. Of course, EA liquidated the studio which made it once the press inundat...
@Nyxus While the reviews were misleading, they definitely helped. I was just as hyped as anyone for this one, but I didn't pre-order the game because I have seen how other companies have handled their launches over last five years.
When day one reviews broke, even the 10/10 sycophant reviewers frequently mentioned that they were reviewing the PC version of the game and that the console versions were probably going to be rough.
As a result, I purchas...
Their consumers are stupid. Don't pre-order games. It's as simple as that. This game isn't a failure. It has already made all of its money back and then some on 8 million plus pre-orders it received. Even with the handful of refunds CDPR will actually honor, this game will be a huge commercial success.
We can blame the companies all we want for these horrible launches, but at the end of the day its the millions of idiots who can't even bother to wait for a revi...
Technically, they aren’t interns any more. Losing old talent sucks but it hasn’t really worked with Casey Hudson at the helm in a while. Cleaning house and finding new talent might be the best thing for BioWare.
Honestly, the only way I’m even gonna bother with an EA title again is if it get a glowingly positive review from Yahtzee Croshaw.
You have to wonder if these big discount events aren't popping up because of Nintendo Direct. Hopefully, Nintendo has something interesting to say this time around, because right now I am stuck without a PS5 and hurting for something new to play.
