I enjoyed Star Ocean 5 but it didn't meet my expectations :( It released in that pre-ffxv window where 90% of PS4 games out of Japan (especially jrpgs) looked too much like 1080p PS3 ports (or Vita cross platform ones). Some still do but they're changing for the better more and more.

Just felt dated even if I enjoyed it and it helped get me back into a jrpg mood again.

People can disagree but beyond the paying for online (an undeniable negative even if it helped build the infrastructure somewhat), XBL made online consoles what they are today. Others have followed suit and built on its system but MS and XBL laid the foundation with consoles in particular.

That's what made them an icon imo and is their biggest influence on the gaming world.

Xbox Live is their biggest influence on the console market.

Before Live an occasional game might dabble online but MS basically set down what all online consoles do or at least should do today (Nintendo needs to step up still). Yes they were the first to charge for it too (definitely the big negative no one denies) but that doesn't really distract from the fact that Live made the console online reality what it is today.

PSN built on it and added thin...

Going by a straight up "best designed game" then yes it does. You can't pick and choose what it's compared to if you're going to make a generalized "best designed game ever" article. Most of the article is specific to open world games but general statements are exactly that.

It's also why I ended the way I did. You can't compare things exactly and even then it's all opinion based even if they're closer related.

Nope but close.

Zelda's biggest flaw was how often early weapons broke. I dont think the better quality ones were much of an issue but some of the lowbie stuff could have lasted longer and still just kept that low damage cap to them. They didn't need to last forever or anything but now and again you'd go through 2-3 on a bigger (but still not "big") enemy version in the early parts of the game. Once you opened up and unlocked equipment slots though ...

I'm guessing he means Nintendo franchises specifically but they also said third party is welcome to do the same last week so I'm expecting some of them to eventually as well (Bayonetta 2 for example, maybe even with a port of 1 like pc got).

WB brought Undercover to every new console though. Plus they're bringing the new Marvel heroes game to them all again this year.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a large part of why I almost bought a Wii U a few times, but never did. I'd buy X for my switch for sure.

I'd take a Hyrule Warriors or whatever it was too.

Not many have but RE7 and Shadow of War are both nice titles that went that route. I bet we see more now and again but they're not exactly going to be flooding the market.

Most big publishers have their own online PC distribution stores after all (Ubi and EA for example but most others have smaller scale stores too). Capcom, WB, and a few other sizable publishers might test the waters but none of the major publishers will. Most will be smaller games but any game I ca...

That's good, I always remember Gamescom but don't follow the lead up to it as much.

Hopefully they actually show Crackdown gameplay and not just a snippet reel this time. It isn't the most exciting game in the world but i'd like to see the gang boss billboard/dynamic fights in action as they're the most new things about it from what we've seen so far.

Maybe show some of the old games on the X (Gears 4 especially). Hopefully FCC accept it for preorders by then for sure (and maybe have an official Xbox mini-Direct video type thing with game...

I'm buying an X and say yes. Console multiplayer is about having an even playing field (as even as possible in a world of different controllers, hacks, etc anyways). If it's multiplayer than parity (frame rate wise) should exist in a single generational system (so One and any variation of it).

For singleplayer games though just ramp everything up as much as you can. Resolution, frame rate, textures, whatever you can manage. It's not world ending if it's ...

I just like Crackdown for blowing stuff up and shooting things. It basically fills the same hole as Dead Rising for me (except enemies fight back more in Crackdown). Not exactly serious material for either game so I can overlook a lot of issues for this "kind" of game (Orbs vs Clothing/blueprints and the rest is similar enough no-guilt killing spree games, sort of like a Western variation of Musou games in a sense).

I'll probably play Agents of Mayhem for th...

If you use it as a portable for any length of time you probably already have a second charger.

Yes, but i doubt as well as the Pro (which is 1 in 5). It's more expensive and the less sold system so 1:5 seems a bit of a stretch to me. You never know though. I'll pick one up to join my Pro and have a better excuse to play Xbox again at the same time.

Crackdown will probably be my first game on it. Not the best looking game from what we've seen (I like it, but not as pretty as many nowadays) but I just enjoyed the crazy action of the original. Even if i...

For a new device, it's getting a ridiculous amount of first party games year 1. Third needs more love though of course as 50% of non-Nintendo games have been Neo geo titles so far.

I think it will come but some will be ports and people will inevitably cry about it although many will probably have been games that were never released on Nintendo devices before. Games like Bioshock, Darksiders, etc for example that were also ported to PS4/One could find a good home on th...

True, he's been a big part of MS and Xbox for longer but wasn't really made the official head of Xbox division until later--2014 technically so barely over 3 years.

Half of the games canned by now were in development before he took charge. The other half were released but being produced before his placement so he might have made some changes but not as much control over them directly as if he greenlit them. Then again, he wasn't exactly in some small position...

No console is going 8K any time remotely soon (next 10 years probably).

Next gen will be 4K/60 for all (but nintendo probably) and actually be manageable and better looking than now too. Probably better physics too like some games skimp on in at least 1-2 ways (Horizon was gorgeous but no real Aloy enabled water physics for one). Vegetation physics is also usually varied (the walking through ones instead of plants moving with you--which U4 at times did better than even Ho...

Anyone that thinks most old games will get a patch actually worth a damn for comparisons is kidding themselves. Most will get a Res patch or nothing unless it's already been done on the Pro.

Some might but not enough to matter. Modded Skyrim and Fallout would probably see better comparison differences than most Dev made patches will.

I think it will happen even if it hasn't yet. The franchise is very popular on Nintendo devices and Capcom is throwing games everywhere they can ATM (even with people arguing over them most of the time).

It's not like they don't have enough teams or are afraid to outsource if necessary. Plus it's Capcom, as long as they think it's profitable it will happen until their beating a dead horse.
