No. I'm 99% sure Microsoft is not paying off anyone to dis on the PS3. This is a conspiracy theory, and as such, it's extremely unlikely. Enough with the Microsoft hate. I suppose if Killzone 2 isn't GOTY, it's Microsoft's fault some how, right?
So, the story you think is right is the one that suits you. Maybe the 1 million pre-orders isn't true.
Don't worry, omodis420. If the game is good, sales will normalize after launch, even without a glut of sales upfront.
Of course, if the game isn't that good, then they will be even worse off. The fact that they aren't pushing pre-orders is a sign of strength to me...
What's so cool about the Helghast? They look completely generic, and don't try to deny it. I might mistake a Killzone 2 ad for a Fallout 3 ad.
And I'll tell you the problem with advertising Killzone 2. It's a game called "Killzone". Did anyone actually think about how generic that name is? Deathfield. Areamurder. Homicidesector. Neighborhood of the Deceased. Precinct of the Departed. It's like some clueless Japanese business men tried to name a game that would...
That was... incoherent. If you think that beyond a doubt, Microsoft will never succeed... that it's some how fated that Microsoft will fail, then it's clear you have an irrational hatred of Microsoft. Microsoft is a business, the same as any other business. Apple wants to eliminate Microsoft. Linux wants to eliminate Microsoft. That's because Microsoft is #1 and will be for the foreseeable future.
So, it's fine for Apple and Linux to walk all over Microsoft in court because ...
This is business. Business is cut-throat. And Microsoft is the best at doing business.
Microsoft has every right to lock out anyone they want. It's a platform mediated market, and they own the platform. They have a level of control they can exercise to do what ever the hell they want. If I were in MS' position, I would have done the same thing.
The real issues that get me steamed are competitors suing them down to size because they can't compete any other way. ...
Pirate, of course not. We don't expect co-op in PC FPS as much as we do in console. Plus, the co-op standard wasn't as strong when HL2 came out.
And to mark it down from 10 to 6 is an exaggeration. You should be ashamed...
Cue fanboy-whining about a .8 point deduction.
Good god, enough already. We expect a game to have co-op, the same way we expect an FPS to have online multiplayer. It's missing it, it gets marked down. Simple as that.
Stop trying to stack the review criteria to make your darling game perfect. That's transparent fanboyism. A game is what it is, and the circumstances of it needing to save a console do not magically make it a better game.
Yes, you can grade a game for what it's missing. What makes you think you can't or shouldn't? We expect online multiplayer these days, and if the game has OFFline multiplayer, we mark the game down.
Same thing here. We expect online co-op with at least 4 players. And we don't get ANY co-op. Totally valid deduction.
Also, stop whining that your darling savior of the PS3 got a less than perfect score.
The fact the Apple is growing in popularity is proof that Microsoft is not a monopoly. Also, a monopoly would indicate exclusive control of a limited resource. What are they controlling, bits? Silicon? Other companies? Knowledge?
Honestly, I'm sick of other companies competing with Microsoft through litigation. But I suppose if you swallow that litigation as a means to pull down your competition is a fair strategy, then anything Microsoft does is fair game, too.
It's not that people hate Vista. They hate Microsoft. So, no matter how much Vista improves, it will still say Microsoft on the box.
As soon as the slightest problem hits with Windows 7, the Microsoft hating will start all over again with arrogant Linux nuts thinking the "advice" they deliver is clever.
Actually, suing Sony for forcing Blu-ray makes more sense. You have a choice with browsers on the PC, but you really don't have a choice to yank that BD drive out and replace it with an HD-DVD drive.
But even that wouldn't meet the bar for this kind of legal action. This isn't justice; this is like mob violence at a football game. Everyone hates MS so much, they are happy to see anything bad happen to them, even if it's undeserved.
So... uhh... hey, wait a second. How do you download Firefox without having a lesser web browser first? Tell me that...
Thank you Microsoft for being the browser of choice for the first 5 minutes. Without you bundling your browser with Windows, it would be kinda hard for me to get Firefox.
Honestly, I love Firefox. I use it plenty, but Microsoft has every right to bundle their free software with their operating system. Firefox is free the same way. They could m...
Because Killzone 2 pretends to be something more than just another FPS. Because Killzone 2 desperately needs to be the game that justifies a PS3 purchase. Because it needs to be worth it to the people who already bought a PS3 just to say they chose the right console.
And because it made all the promises that it is that game, it's going to get reamed for not meeting those impossibly lofty goals.
Woah... Killzone 2? Innovative? It (poorly) rips cover from Gears, crosses it with a semi-COD4 aesthetic, and grants very Halo-ish recharging health. Innovative my ass. It's damned pretty, but it's not innovative in the least.
That's funny. You think the target video from E3 05 was met.
It did a reasonable job of meeting the target, but the target was not reachable, and it certainly wasn't surpassed. The first person movement was a whole lot smoother and the world was much more open.
It's amazing how KZ2 is getting artificially lifted up because PS3 fans need it so desperately to be something it is not. It's not the best, it's not a system seller. It's just another pretty FPS, and a cl...
Yay, more people who "know" Killzone 2 is the "best" FPS "ever". Mark my words, the fanboys will descend on KZ2 the same way the PS3 fanboys descended on Halo 3. The skies will ring with "It's not that good."
I now know beyond a doubt that KZ2 is overhyped, because right now the PS3 fanboys need a victory on a game they have been betting on for 4 long years. Unfortunately, this is not that game, no matter how much it needs to be.
Wow. Another "it just is" comment. I NEVER get tired of hearing those.
Yes, I DO want you to break out the specs and show us how expert you are by interpreting those specs with Wikipedia and Google...
I can justify Live just fine. I make enough money so $30-50 a year is quite literally, insignificant. Nothing. I took my wife out for a $125 dinner for valentines. That's what awaits you when you get out of grad school.
But, for those of you who scrimp and save for games, systems, and associated services, yeah, there is a point here. The point is that you should be aiming for a higher standard of living rather than playing games.
