No Jammy. You just really really really want it to. But like Disney says, if you just believe hard enough, maybe you could make it happen.
It's magic.
Guys, this isn't about Halo or console RTS. Have you even considered that your absolute beliefs of "Halo always sucks" and "console RTS always sucks" could be wrong? Give me a little credit here. I played the Killzone 2 demo three times to see if might be wrong about my expectations. And not that smug kind of attempt where I decided forehand I didn't like it. On the other hand, I didn't decide I liked it before I played it either.
If you don't start off h...
Don't count it out Cajun. This game could very well make RTS fans out of a lot of people. I came into it saying how much I hate RTS just like you, and came away converted.
That's funny. After playing both demos, I put Killzone 2 at the top of my Gamefly list... because I knew I would be buying Halo Wars, day one. So this could mean that people are more interested in buying Killzone 2 and interested in merely renting HW.
Honestly, this doesn't prove a hell of a lot. Gamefly routinely has the top chart completely saturated with 360 games. That probably means that there is a glut of 360 owners who have Gamefly.
The Gamefly list isn't ...
@Green: Bioshock is better than Killzone 2... I have to agree with Edge on that one.
I'm cool with it. I played the demo and I know I like it, so I don't need some magazine to validate it. In the same way, I didn't like the Killzone 2 demo, so I don't need someone to validate that either.
But... srsly... two different genres. The scores are not remotely comparable.
Every publication is entitled to say their opinion. But to go around on a witch hunt, claiming a reviewer is not a "true believer"... that's what we call a cult. That's sad.
This obsession with calibration and "the best" is getting on my nerves. Do you need some advertising or an overpriced calibration product to give you permission to enjoy your electronics?
But but but... Full HDMI sounds like "best". You mean it's not. Gee wiz, I can't wrap my little mind around that. </sarc>
How naive. Read a press release lately? They are BOTH at each other's necks, and they are factioning out the hardcore demographic so it's several times weaker than the casual demographic. Nintendo is going to destroy what Microsoft and Sony have worked hard to build... a next-generation hardcore following. And all you garbage-for-brains can do is fight with each other.
This is STILL a three-way war. And it's not going to be Microsoft or Sony who wins unless they wise up and ...
I'll say it again: the hardcore fanboys need to stop arguing over 360 and PS3. They are the same, and if Sony fanboys can get off the hype train and 360 fanboys can recognize a few good games on PS3, then their efforts could turn towards crushing the Wii. That's what's going to change the world of gaming for the worse, not Microsoft conspiracy theories or Sony arrogance. That's right, Sony and Microsoft fans need to get buddy-buddy... and there is no time like the present.
Who cares. I played it and I think it's a completely generic shooter that bucks tradition in all the wrong ways. You can think whatever you want, but for my money, I'm going to get a lot more satisfaction out of a game like Halo Wars.
Snarky comments, just go away. It's not clever anymore... on either side.
All you have accomplished is revealing your bias. Clearly you see the world through Sony-branded lenses.
You see that bubble floating away from you in to the upper atmosphere, never to return? That used to be your bubble.
Thor doesn't get it. And that's fine. I disagree with the "detail" claim, but it's certainly polished.
It's not polished from a graphics perspective, but the gameplay is exceptionally well polished. The AI director keeps the pressure on very well, and because those algorithms are polished, the gameplay resulting becomes polished.
I really don't care. I mean, I really REALLY don't care. I'm waiting for the next game that makes me play obsessively over and over, not another "cinematic FPS", be that Halo, Killzone, Gears, or Resistance. Those games are only worth the campaign... 10 hours at best. I want a game I never tire of. Something my wife will roll her eyes over when I'm still playing it 6 months later. The cinematic experience just is not compelling anymore. I had more fun with Minesweeper than I ...
You all are missing the point again. No matter how good a game looks, good gameplay will always carry it further. If a multi-plat game has good mechanics and knows the basics like COD4, then it doesn't matter what it looks like.
Heavy Rain looks good, but it falls into the uncanny divide too easily. That's one PS3 game I'm looking forward to, because I liked QD's past projects too.
Who cares what it looks like? How it plays will ultimately carry the game. I've seen beautiful games with no replay value and tons of flash games I could play every friggin day.
HAHAHA! Now the fanboys of a single system are being pit against each other. This is f***ing gold.
Certainly could use a better directional pad. I took it into my own hands to fix that problem, and I'm glad I did. XCM makes some controller cases at Extreme-Mods.com that have the new d-pad built in... and for some very light soldering, you can make it light up the face buttons too.
