Look, I agree with the original poster. Really. If you don't like something, you should not buy it and hope it dies in the marketplace. That's how the free-market works. People usually waste their time getting hot and bothered about gimmicks or about being charged exorbitant prices. No one is forcing you...
The problem is the same issue people have with Halo. If you hype it enough, people think they have to have it. That alone can make a game/tv/gadget financially worth it...
Oh, I really don't care. Really. I didn't even care when Halo 3 ran at 640p. As long as it's a progressive scan and the AA looks half decent, I'm happy. I'd rather get clean framerates than 1080p...
This one is a no brainer.
I agree. Console bans.
There are too many unstable kids out there who would throw themselves out the window if this happened to them.
And how the f**k does this happen? Why do they even ALLOW a negative experience?
I had very high opinions of IW. But now? Bring on Treyarch.
Let's see how many of you can follow this:
public epicness Fail()
{
return Fail();
}
If you are playing the new Turok, you have mental issues worse than this kid.
It's still a fad. When 360 and PS3 are getting so much more gaming time compared to their underpowered cousin, it's about time to start questioning how big the Wii really is.
All Nintendo has been good at this generation is selling hardware and selling first party games. As for longevity? Not something to be proud of.
Yes, Thom, we know what tactile response is. No, Thom, we don't see it as THE only issue like you do. But YES, I do see it as a hindrance to breaking into anything other than casual games... involving flailing about... at bouncing balls.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Microsoft release something very similar to the PS wand (sans visual motion tracking), but for use with Natal. Think about it: orientation data based on mapping the user, not the 2d PS Eye image. I'm looking for...
Halo Reach? Not as big a hit to Sony as people would like to think, but I think it will hit Sony in ways people don't expect. It won't sell consoles, but it will wrestle the mind share away from PS3 for a month or two. Sure, dual (or triple) ownership is going up, and with that metric's rise, the battle for unit sales is becoming more meaningless by the day. The game sales are where the war is turning now. And both Sony and Microsoft look to have a good 2010, and Reach is only one facet ...
At this point, I should ask why they don't just animate these things in-engine and save the space... and disks?
I find it funny that people regard larger disks as "necessary" since AAA games tend to expand toward the upper limits of their storage medium anyway. And, on top of that, most high-fidelity visual effects don't come from huge texture files, but from algorithmic processing of fairly LOW-rez maps. In other words, it's no big surprise that FF13 is actually smal...
Are you really arguing the validity of one meaningless reward system over another? I mean, its great to have the friendly competition, but they both serve the exact same function. You can compare them exactly the same way. Most multiplats have the same Achievements and Trophies, even. Trophies have "Levels" the same way Achievements has a "Gamerscore".
Ok, let's curb the enthusiasm. Oh, I'm sorry. On closer inspection, it's irrational exuberance.
MGS4 was a masterpiece of a game, but it wasn't perfect. They could have had dropped the multiplayer and, despite the omission, brought things closer to perfection.
This is a pretty well balanced approach to things. Yes, the exclusives are great. Yes, trophies have to overcome our entrenched gamerscores. Yes, online is a tradeoff.
But it bugs me that most of N4G will 1) look at the title and assume the article is 100% positive or 2) bash his guts out for pointing out the most minor negative. People here have no sense of moderation.
Poor Patrick, outted as a cheap skate for all on the Internet to see...
It seems a little... pretentious... to release a GOTY edition.
Too much. I'm already looking to spend $3700 for a kick-ass tv. The good news is that people will start holding back for 3D, and the price of the set I want is going to come down, thanks to reduced demand.
This is a BAAAAAD idea on Microsoft's part. Skewing the consistent demo on their Arcade-class games (which is one of the best things about Live, BTW) to allow $.50 one-plays?
Ok, MS. I'll play ball with you. I'll take your hackneyed pricing scheme IF you let me own the game after paying the total cost of the download anyway. That's the only way this makes a SHRED of sense to the consumer.
Only good thing I see happening here is that the retro titles can be had fo...
You are blatantly, consciously, and maliciously confusing "hype" with "overhype".
Halo 3: hyped... but not overhyped. God forbid someone would actually advertise.
Now HERE is an example of overhype: "Halo Killer".
For. Truth.
Released May 2000, so it qualifies.
Thank you for not going with the knee-jerk counter-culture and actually thinking about your response.
This still comparison is hard to discern. The brightness difference could easily be swapped. And I have to strain to see any AA advantages. I would honestly give the slight edge to the PS3 version here.
God, won't one of these sites do a blind test?
If everyone in America was like you, we would be a country mired in our own credit card debt.
...Oh wait, we are. We are a country positively filled with sh*t we can't afford. Houses, TV's, cars. And then there is this concept that we should buy into every single piece of consumer electronics crap that comes along.
I find it positively HILARIOUS that most of the Sony-lovers on N4G rag on Microsoft as a sign of the materialistic nature of Americans... and then turn...
