Respectfully, no. I don't remember. Because while I was in the closed beta, I knew Home was going to be an abject failure and I skipped the open beta almost entirely.
I would think that if you have PSN+, you should also get all the Home spaces downloaded automatically. It would make a LOT of sense.
Sodium was not a bad idea, and it was not executed poorly. I didn't find it particularly compelling, but a good showcase of what they could accomplish.
I'm guessing you don't have many games to play.
I'm honestly not trying to ridicule you, but I usually view Home as being a "free" haven for people who don't have better things to do online.
Godmars: Hypocrisy Fail.
Ok, I'll ask a question to validate my presensce in this thread.
Is this a quantum leap in functionality since the last time I logged in? Something that turns Home into something other than a massive cockup of advertising... a giant heat-sink of eyesores? Or is it still the same half-baked world of loading screens, standing in line to play games that would have been moderately entertaining without the wait, and pre-scripted danc...
Ok people... if you don't like casual games, stick around for games like Child of Eden and the new Steel Battalion. Your core needs will be met. Not right now... but they will be met. For the time being, a large install base is beneficial to everyone because it gives the core game developers a market to go after with experimental core titles.
Patience.
@trane07: What does that tell me? You're an obstructionist, exclusionist asshole, like most of ...
Don't let the ignorance get to you.
That's my job.
I disagree that the lag is all that noticeable. It's certainly something you can compensate for.
and... in before the "why should we have to compensate, it should just work". I supposeyou could also argue that games should just beam directly into our brains instead of us compensating by using our eyes...
And it's pretty much given that a controller will be necessary for most future experiences. I'm just waiting for Microsoft to intro...
I'll put this out there: The technology has limitations. But so does Move, Wii, Eye, Eyetoy.... Microsoft fucking Sidewinder. If you stick Move behind your back or off camera, it suddenly becomes much less accurate.
I'd give Kinect a little fuckin credit, but everything would be a little better with a higher res depth camera.
You gotta be really special to kill a TV with Kinect. But just think... there is no way you could sue Microsoft for this.
Bubbbles and agrees for you.
See, people who haven't played it stick out like a sore thumb. They are haters.
You make it sound like Sony SHOULD go wreck the way I interact with their system and force me to use their tiny controller. Who was I harming?
Hey, great news. This might finally end my 3.5 boycott for killing my 360 controller converter.
Just not as well. It doesn't have the depth sensing elements of Kinect.
No. It doesn't.
This is the part where you get past Kinect being "just-a-camera". It's an infrared depth sensor that also has an RGB camera on it. If certain shades of skin absorb IR light too easily, there will be nothing to reflect back for the depth sensor to read.
This is probably what will get me to adopt Move.
I remember TC4 fondly because I was playing at an arcade with one of those swipey cards. I tried playing the whole game through, right down to my last credit on the card. I was at the final boss, and I put the final bullet thought his noggin... a split second AFTER I lost my last hit point. In the delay between the last life losts and the continue screen, I squeezed in one last shot and won.
Postmortem win. ...
Quite simply, if the skin absorbs infrared light too readily, the IR camera won't be as capable of detecting depth.
Certain kinds of clothes do that too. I recommend playing naked, if you're white and in a grey jumpsuit if you're black...</sarc>
I agree with you. And most people aren't going to return the sensor outright. They will try to find a way to make it work... unlike bitchy reviewers on their critical pedestal.
I've got 12 feet of space in the living room, sans coffee table. I'm ready.
When I pick mine up this afternoon, my biggest concern will be sunlight coming through the window. I might have to get a film on it or install windows treatments to cover the top.
Props to Microsoft for using Facebook and not forcing us to use something like Windows Live Spaces...
And your singular experience at Best Buy should indicate how an entire technology will be accepted...
Ok... I saw a bunch of kids playing with the Move demo and they couldn't figure out they had to be on camera for it to work. They just waved it around like a Wiimote.
Sony's new target IQ. Sad.
