Well, Filip Victor, creator of Half-Life 2: Update made this vague statement recently:
https://steamcommunity.com/...
Hard to say what he means in that statement. But we do know that Filip has been working on Ep1 & Ep2 "update" for years now. I think he recently said that their completion is close. But he also said that he isn't just working on t...
But an improvement nonetheless. The gfx in the previous trailers from months ago looked really weird. The animations too.
I just hope the improvements transfer into the gameplay too. The demos from last year did not look good at all.
RE4 is still timeless. Honestly, remaking RE4 would be a shameless cash-grab and a shameless insta-buy from me lol
Fucking finally. Ubisoft has milked Assassins' Creed enough.
I agree in terms of level padding. A couple of chapters were unnecessarily long. That machine hand sequence was just annoying.
But other than that, all the new story content was great. The only thing I'd concede is the controversial ending. If you didn't like it and the whispers, then that's fine.
Zelda evolved but retained its core identity. Breath of the Wild still feels and plays like a true Zelda game. Origins & Odyssey did not. That's my argument.
I don't understand how admitting inspiration disproves anything? Most of the magnum opuses of this world are inspired by one thing or another. Doesn't make it any less of a magnum opus.
More for authenticity really. True it sells millions but one day the brand may become stale due to lack of identity and innovation. Other franchises that have remained stellar quality while remaining authentic survive the ages - a good example is Zelda series.
Mate, Breath of the Wild revolutionized Open World. I think we live in a post Breath of the Wild world now and any OW game that doesn't learn from it is outdated.
@extermin8or - yeh i chuckled at little at that scene where he lets the mother and children go. But if the MC is an Assassin then I suppose his values are going to be better than his fellow vikings.
@Foxtrot - agreed. Assassin's Creed is simply no longer what it used to be. Who even knows what's going on with BGaE2?
Yeh, the only part of the trailer that looked remotely AC was the hidden blade. I love the vikings era and history so this game interests me. But it should be a new IP from the looks of it, not Assassin's Creed.
I haven't played Origins and Odyssey but I was a big fan of the AC series up till Unity.
Unity was a technical & design masterpiece - that was seriously undermined by underwhelming missions, lame story, illogical progression system, loot boxes. and completely broken by millions of bugs.
I watched gameplay videos of Unity of a player going through a crowd and dispatching unsuspecting guards. The animations, the graphics, lighting, enemy reactions ...
Square-Enix has now 4 'Creative Business Units' - fancy name for development team.
2 of them are large and talented enough to work on AAA games.
1 is solely focused on MMORPG games.
The last one focuses on remasters, ports and mobile games.
Essentially, Square can work on a Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest game at the same time, but likely cannot work on 2 main Final Fantasy games at once. So we will likely not see Final Fantasy XVI until th...
There were about 3 'towns' in FF7R. All of them were rich and immersive. Full of NPCs, oddities, side quests, shops etc. I found them all far better than the 'towns' in FF13 and FF15. Wall Market in particular was labyrinthine.
My only criticism is that I wish there were more of them - particularly topside. I wanted to see more of life on the plate but the vast majority of the game takes place in the slums.
As for what comes next. Square cannot mak...
For me, the issue with FF13's battle system was its paradigm shift mechanic. Most fans of the FF series want to be able to control individual commands - not just change job classes and press Auto battle. Vast majority of enemies were easy. Only bosses required more input. Also, the summoning system was really bad.
FF7R rectifies all of this. You have control over what specific materia abilities your characters use. Thus you have control over what commands you want to us...
FF15 is better described as an Action-Adventure game than an Action-RPG.
KH series and FF7R are actual Action-RPGs.
I think we will.
Enemy Skill Materia and Steal Materia was in the game. They even kept the whole Aerith's weapon has to be stolen from Eligor enemy in Train Graveyard.
Yeh, FF7R definitely takes far more from FF13 than FF15. I think people are making this mistake because they both look visually similar. FF7R actually takes more from KH series than FF15 too.
The biggest problem with FF13's combat system was the autobattle function. We want to be in complete control of commands and not just change job classes on the fly. Even if you could create your own gambits, it just doesn't compare to actually customizing specific magic abiliti...
?
Yeh I agree with your view. I'd give it maybe 7 or 7.5 out of 10. RE2make was a masterpiece. RE3make was clearly developed alongside with a different team and smaller budget. If it was given maybe another year of development, then maybe it'd be just as good as its predecessor.
FFS, Mario 64 is easily the most emulated N64 game ever.
A fan-made PC port won't change that.
