Yeh, the last FF game I remember with blood in it was FF Type-0. FFvs13 was supposed to have blood but was sanitized once it became FF15.

I reckon it has all to do with budgeting. When a FF games takes too long to make, no way will S-E risk it being rated it Mature lest they lose sales.

The devil is in the detail. The team behind this are the FF14 team, and the producer is a guy called Naoki Yoshida who managed to resurrect the colossal disaster of FF14 1.0 and create A Real Reborn: FF14 in record time with a quality beyond expecations.

It's clear that out of all the senior creatives at S-E, Yoshida is a man who knows how to make good games and how to time-manage. All the expansions that came out for FF14 kept on raising the bar. The last expansion - S...

True I suppose. But this feels like an intentional decision. Square has been having an identity crisis over battle systems and combat since Final Fantasy 13. Bringing in a guy who worked on Dragon's Dogma and DMC5 to work on FF16's combat means they definitely want to go for a more hack and slash style.

Not saying it won't be good, but as an old fan of the series, I thought FF7R was finally the end result of over a decade of trial and error. Guess not.

Not sure where the influence of FF7R's battle system is in the FF16 trailer. This is just an evolution of what started in FF15 - i.e. a more action-orientated combat. Maybe this time there will be actual combos and skill.

Not sure why S-E decided on going the route of pure action-RPG when they perfected the ATB system in FF7R. I thought that was the perfect hybrid of the classic and the modern.

The reason this time might be different is due to the specific senior staff involved on this.

Yoshida Naoki, also known asYoshi-P, was brought into Final Fantasy 14 Online after it clusterfeck of development and release in order to fix it. It was an astronomical task and he did it in record time and beyond expectations. Most of the development team thought it was a lost cause, but the man Yoshi-P managed to turn it around. And thus A Realm Reborn FF14 came to life to subseq...

This has nothing to do with budget. It has everything to do with management.

Microsoft is notorious for their "executive" interference in game development of studios they are funding. It's clear that Halo 5 suffered due to MS wanting their Halo franchise to be the direct rival to the COD franchise. There's also the whole micro transaction affair with Halo 5's multiplayer too.

I think Microsoft may have learned from their mistakes lat...

There are loads of "unofficial" stores other than App Store or Google Play Store. Only iPhones make it difficult for you to access them - you need to jailbreak them.

But 99% of smartphone owners don't know this. This is mostly down to Apple creating an ecosystem with their products that produces the situation where all their customers are under a sort of economic enthrallment. All transactions, all purchases. Everything goes through Apple. Android does it too ...

- No new PoP game for 10 years
- Forgotten Sands was lame
- No sequel to PoP '08 reboot
- Ubisoft have just been milking Assassin's Creed IP for 14 years
- There have been numerous remakes last few years that have had a lot better attention (RE2, FF7, Spyro, Crash, SotC etc)
- Sands of Time is considered the best PoP game and a videogame classic
- A lot more effort could have been invested in Sands of Time "remake"

I also think talent is an issue here. Seems like only a small team at Ubi India is working on it. Probably some juniors with not too much experience.

Both look bad though. And in some ways, the alpha build looks better.

Did only 1 guy at Ubisoft work on this "remake." Was he working on it since 2010?

Oh well, at least we get some PoP at last.

Other M was a massive shame. I really think Nintendo almost found the right way to do a proper 3D Metroid game.

But the story, voice acting and Samus' portrayal was terrible and it's what most people seem to remember the most about it. The gameplay wasn't bad, but it was far from perfect. It needed more time to get right. Average level design, weird dodging mechanic, strange running animation and weird interactive cinematic moments. After Other M, most people w...

Epic basically claims that Apple is creating an app store monopoly in its billion devices. But Apple isn't required to provide other stores on its devices - in a practical sense.

After the jailbreak court case, it is now not allowed to restrict user access to other stores. I.e. once iOS jailbreaking became officially legal, iphone owners now have a method of accessing other stores to purchase apps for their device.

This is part of the reason I'm ...

I think most women feel uncomfortable when hearing lewd jokes made by guys. Whether that counts as "sexual harassment" is something else - I think not all lewd jokes are sexual harassment and should be judged case-by-case.

However, companies should enforce certain standards in order to make a work environment as comfortable for as many people as possible. I do not think video/audio recorders placed everywhere is the solution. That can effect the quality of people...

I mean, Oxen... Morganfell pretty much spelled it out.

While I do agree that 30% is a very steep cut for developers, Steam provides far more service in that 30% that most people are led to believe. First, the storefront is the best by far in terms of marketing products, dlc, related products, updates etc. Secondly, the consumer services provided such as the community hub, the modding support, guides, fan groups etc. Thirdly, free unlimited keys for the developer in question...

I have to agree with morganfell, here.

The foundation of any market competition is consumer choice. Regardless of regional pricing or supposed pro-developer business tactics (which isn't true), they are limited consumer choice. That's not playing the game by the rules - that's fixing the game.

No fan of Steam's 30% cut, however look at who's actually making a pissy fit out of it - the big publishers. That's why all the launchers are by the EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc. The money does NOT reach the developers' pockets. It reaches the shareholders' pockets. The developers are paid salaries. And some are crap.

I feel for the indie devs and small publishers who have to survive Steam's 30% cut. However, Steam does not do store exclusives and the...

Epic wants you to feel bad for them after Apple/Google removed Fortnite from their stores due to Epic's greed.
Epic's greed now prevents you from getting Hitman 3 on Steam at launch.

It's not the worst sin in the world. I suspect what happened was:

- He was at a Ubi event representing AC.
- He met a chick who was also an AC fan, and introduced himself as director of the next game.
- He probably used "exclusive development info" to entice her to go with him to a bar to make moves on her.
- He lied that he was single and then began a relationship.
- She eventually found out he wasn't single and went pu...
