A ubisoft game.
There were also rumours that Infinite was almost set to be a "Live Service" game. I think Phil Spencer put a stop to that after the negative reception to the demo shown a few months back.
Joe Staten is a Bungie veteran and was part of the core team that provided the creative direction for the Halo trilogy. So it's not all bad news, and in some ways, perhaps good news.
Depends on the amount of grind. Some companies (EA/Ubi/Acti) deliberately lock cosmetics behind insane grinding in order to incentivize you to buy it.
I do miss the old days of unlockable content free from monetization.
I think executive management has always been a problem for game studios under MS.
It's the main reason Bungie were desperate to get themselves loose.
But I think, a lot has changed under Phil Spencer. I'm 100% certain Halo Infinite would never have been delayed, otherwise. MS needed a flagship title for XSX launch and there's nothing better than Halo.
But yeah, the fact this was supposed to be out in 18 days and now has no...
I can agree that FF15 had far too much button-mashing.
But it is simply untrue that FF7R had too much button-mashing. Especially once you're beyond half-way through. Many enemies in Sector 6 require magic and staggering to beat. If you just mash the X button, you'll lose all your HP before the enemy loses theirs.
In terms of going back to turn-based RPG. I'm afraid that's never going to happen again. The top execs at S-E will not spend AAA...
Yeh I suppose you can say Nintendo is responsible for allowing it. But I don't see Nintendo as being part of the "scam." They simply give license to use their console platform for publishing games.
So I suppose you're right to say that Nintendo is consenting to allow the scam to occur.
But the tone of your original post kinda implied Nintendo was the main culprit lol
EA is not a smaller developer lol
Nintendo allowed it for royalty payments, of course. It's not their decision what's in the game. EA is 100% responsible for what they develop and publish.
Agreed 100%. He may have an unlikeable personality but that's irrelevant to the stories he writes.
If people can prove it to be false, then fine. But that's not what's going on. They are hating on him because he's reporting truth they don't wanna hear.
Twitter itself is a toxic platform. All journalists are classically arrogant and obnoxious. But doesn't make Jason's pieces any less untrue.
Clearly people are mad at him only because he broke the story their favorite developer backtracking on their pledge.
And yet his sources and whistle-blowers are all game developers?
Seems according to you, game developers are only game developers if they don't complain...
Crunch is more than "working extra."
We're not talking about the usual staying after work for half an hour or an hour to finish what you're working on.
This was an order by the executives for their staff to work 6-day weeks for several weeks. And this happened after CD Projekt publicly pledged that they have stopped implementing crunch.
I am baffled as to why people are so easy to accept this. This is the start of a s...
A lot of developers are dunking on Jason these days.
All he's doing is reporting dangerous work conditions. Last time, it was Naughty Dog reacting to Jason's tweet that said, "Games don't need to be so long."
The fact of the matter is, the industry making crunch the new normal is BAD for the industry and more importantly, BAD for its workers.
Have to give credit to Sucker Punch and Sony. All this content for free and still implementing a policy of no microtransactions for anything.
A lot of people are giving all the credit to Sucker Punch - and while they do deserve recognition, they are a subsidiary of Sony and therefore all business decisions ultimately fall to Sony. Meaning, Sony okayed this when they could have forced some kind of fee for the multiplayer inclusion or a microtransactions for the cosmetics.

That's okay, there's nothing wrong with you wanting overtime. All I'm saying is that people should have the choice - and not it being forced on them.
Also, CD Projekt is one of the more notorious studios when it comes to crunch. The notorious three developers when it comes to crunch are Naughty Dog, Rockstar and CD Projekt.
Basically, the criticism should be directed at CD Projekt for breaking their word and risking the health of their worker...
Some people also want a healthy lifestyle.
If you want overtime, that should be your choice, not something forced on you. People have families, obligations, social life, and other things and events in life. Work should NOT be the sole focus of anyone's life unless it's their choice.
Ever heard of the phrase - We work to live, not live to work.
This is what I was wondering when I heard this news.
Gold means development is complete and that version is then sent to the disc factories and digital storefronts.
The only thing developers would be working on is a Day 1 patch. Is CD Projekt going to force their staff to work on bug fixes for 6 days a week till launch? Or is it what I'm really expecting - lots of missing content from the final game that must be downloaded on launch? Inb4 100gb patc...
That was a terrible discussion. Did any of those guys ever play any FF game before FF12? High fantasy medieval setting was the series staple until FF6. FF9 and FF12 went back to the old formula. And FF12 is part of the Tactics universe anyway.
I agree the graphics weren't groundbreaking but my priority is to have a good game with good gameplay. The combat looks good but still disappointing they went for a full-action approach despite the success of FF7R's combat whi...
I believe the answer is $.
High praises for RE2make and very successful sales numbers. Capcom see the RE2make development formula as a potential for financial success. Thus why RE4make seems inevitable.
I do agree that Code Veronica is much more deserving and needing of a remake. RE4 still stands the test of time till today. And it's already a third person shooter survival horror game. RE2, RE3 and CV were not third person shooters and so make much mo...
FFvs13 was most likely going to be an M-rated game. The early trailers had blood and gore in it.
I reckon that FF16 isn't that far off from being finished. No way will S-E release an M-rated game on a mega-budget like FF7R which took 5 years to make. The article states how Madam M massage scene had to be toned down to keep it T-rated.
If FF16 has been under development for at least a year, then it's possible that it might be out sometime late ne...
Earlier than expected.
As an old Halo fan, I never got past the first level of Halo 4. Something just felt so different. I'm willing to give it another try this time round.
