The games are difficult, yes, but they're FAIR, and the frequent deaths serve to teach you the game's rules and make you play smarter. What's greatest about them is that you do get more powerful as the games progress, but you still can't get complacent. A starting-game mook can still easily kill an endgame player just because he got complacent, like shoving him into a pit or pulling off a multihit combo that whittles you down to nothing. In Dark Souls, for example, you can one...
No, you mean EA and Activision, not "Western" crap. Cause the West right now is giving Japan a beating in terms of innovation and delivering good games. Kojima is a legend, but he's also, by his own admission, the most Western-influenced Japanese developer. His themes and characters are based on many well-established Western concepts, and the Metal Gear series, even with its moments of Japanese weirdness, is most appealing to Western audiences. Hell, Kojima gives ample praise to...
Oh man, Maximum Impact. The second one was SO amazingly fun. Then again, let's see wbat happens with the next KOF, since apparently it's gonna be 2.5D like Street Fighter 4.
You can get the game for dirt cheap on PSN, XBox Live or Steam. It was one of PS Plus's free games a little while back, that's when I got it, and it hasn't left my PS3 since.
Completely agreed. Few games give you as much content for your buck as KOA, and the expansions are all awesome with loads of content. The crafting system and classes and perks made for some very awesome combinations, and the combat is vsry fun. I hope everyone who was involved with the game went on to greater things, cause it'd be a goddamn shame if they did not get more work after such a fantastic game.
That in and of itself is kinda funny, cause PC gaming is ridiculously behind the times in Japan. For being such a technology-driven country, Japan's PC gaming industry is surprisingly low-tech, with the most popular games being visual novels and retro games that a PS1 could run comfortably. The West will always dominate PC gaming, and like I mentioned before, the Japanese are xenophobic about western games, so they'll never catch up. Hideo Kojima is the only Japanese creator that has ...
That's just because in Japan, the ridiculously xenophobic Japanese gamer won't even look at the XBox brand. Sure, I'm a Sony guy myself, but it's more out of long-time brand loyalty and personal preference than me thinking HERP DERP JAPANESE BETTUH AMERICAN WORSEUH WEABOO!! Microsoft may be my console of choice's competition, but COMPETITION IS A GOOD THING. In Japan, it's not even a fight.
Right on the money. Games like Street Fighter 5 and Bayonetta 2 would not have been made had the console companies not put up money for its development. It's one thing to dish out money for console exclusivity or timed exclusivity for a game that's supposed to be multiplatform (Rise of the Tomb Raider, ahem), it's another that the game would never have been made without the console manufacturer's support. And in the case of SF5, Sony platforms since the PS2 have pretty much be...
11 hours is a respectable length for a linear action game, a game that runs longer than that can overstay its welcome. And 89 is an excellent score, people these days make a big stink of any hyped game that scores less than +90%. Sure, when it's a multiplayer game like Destiny that is worrying, since it's a genre where interaction with other players is supposed to heighten the experience, but for a single-player game, I think it's fine. And come on, everyone wants a game that show...
I think this proves without a shadow of a doubt that EA is just phoning it in now with thus game.
This is hilarious to me because pretty much everyone is disappointed, but my brother geeked the hell out, since he's a huge Spelunker fan. He even beat the one on PS3. And say what you will, that's an accomplishment, cause Spelunker's H.A.R.D.
I still keep insisting that one set in Florida would be the most awesome thing ever.
The original Dragon Age for FIVE BUCKS? Bargain!!!
I knew this was gonna go nowhere not because it's shallow, sexist garbage (although it is) but because it was a PRINT MAGAZINE. Who the hell even buys those anymore?
The undisputed champion of tough moral choices in games is Telltales' The Walking Dead games. You do some HORRIBLE choices in those games based on just trying to survive. And being a nice guy in those games is TOUGH. I still remember putting down Duck, that haunted me, even when it was probably the most moral, selfless choice possible.
This is stupid, they're totally different genres of games. Fallout is all about exploration, survival and solitude, Mass Effect tropes would kot work well in the Fallout world.
If you want a game like Mass Effect, play Mass Effect. Leave Fallout alone.
This isn't a "dastardly trick", they are offering compensation and you're legally forfeiting the right to pursuit restitution in court. This is how law works. You can't take a settlement in court and then sue the plaintiff afterwards, accepting the settlement is your acknowledgement that the payment is appropriate compensation for the damage.
What WAS a dastardly trick is trying to sell us a broken-ass game in the first place. At least when Sony gave us ...
Yes. It's basically Sony's very own E3-style show without having to compete with the other console companies. In fact, if the B_I_G game announcements get made in PSX and then followed up in E3 and Gamescom with gameplay, it could become one of the biggest annual game events easily.
Edit: Oh, but Squeenix should be persona non grata for the next one. Fuck them. They sold out to Microsoft and then sahed the hopes of their fan with the bullshit FF7 announcement. They de...
You might as well rename the game Assassin's Creed: Futility.
Konami already has a pattern of letting their best and brightest leave without fanfare or even with an actively malicious attitude. Akira Yamaoka just straight up left one day, and IGA had Castlevania taken away from him and made to work on shitty mobile games before being let go without any fanfare.
Konami doing this to KOJIMA of all people, the ONE GUY who's still selling console games for them, is madness. Literally, the guy is the only creator they have working on one...
