@AmstradAmiga Racing games will always be a niche market. No matter how fantastic a racing game is, it will not be a system seller except for a small minority. Forza IS a great game, but having only ONE great game compared to Sony's dozens upon dozens of system sellers is not much to write home about for Microsoft.

Of those games mentioned, I'm calling Death Stranding, Metroid Prime 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 as the show stealers. Especially Cyberpunk 2077. We've literally been waiting FIVE YEARS for the full unveiling of the game. I am beyond hyped.

Okay, lemme sum it up dum-dum style: a video game system having backward compatibility: nice. A video game system having backward compatibility as ITS MAIN SELLING POINT: NOT nice.

"You are right! But you can't say that you like all that list. Of course Sony has more exclusives. But you can't like all of them. PS4 has a very small list of multiplayer games. Almost all Xbox exclusives are multiplayer. Microsoft has an obsession with shooters that has to stop."

Um, the PS4 has the same multiplatform games as the XB1, including all the ones with multiplayer, plus a huge list of their own exclusives with multiplayer support. So, objectiv...

"and scalebound is gonna get a release as well. After how ms treated them you think their gonna port it to xbone. Keep dreaming."

Did you guys hear that? that's the sound of the nail getting hit FLUSH on the head. I don't know how much actual pull Platinum has when it comes to games they developed for other publishers, but I'm betting they're VERY angry with Microsoft and will not only not develop any more games for the XB1, but they'll also fi...

I partially agree. I wouldn't say a system HAS to have Japanese games to be successful (the PC is doing great with a predominantly Western games library), but this has been an amazing generation for Japanese games, and not having them on your system does leave a pretty big whole to fill. Obviously Nintendo, but especially Sony, have proven that there's a lot to love about Japanese games these days, and they're enjoying a wide array of exclusives that are system sellers.

@emiyaxtousaka I DO play the regular PS4 every day of the week. I just finished GOW and now I'm hitting Yakuza 6. And later this month we have Detroit and Dragon's Crown Pro. I don't even need to buy a Pro cause the games still run great on the vanilla PS4 and I, like most people, don't have a 4K screen.

Theeeere we go again. Halo and Gears, Halo and Gears, Halo and Gears!! In the meantime, Sony is releasing, just this year, console exclusives like Days Gone, Spider-Man, MLB, Yakuza 6, God of War, Detroit, Dreams, Dissidia Final Fantasy, etc., Not to mention releasing on PS Plus games like Ratchet and Clank, Beyond: Two Souls and freaking BLOODBORNE. And if you look at the last two years, we have Horizon, Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, NiOh, Persona 5, Ni No Kuni 2, Uncharted 4... A...

Microsoft needs NEW IPS, rehqshing old ones ad nauseum is part of the problem! Also...
-Sequel to Alan Wake: There already was one, didn't make much of a blip.
-Sequel to Ryse: I don't see how a sequel to a mediocre game can help Microsoft any.
-Sequel to Sunset Overdrive: Microsoft didn't give SO the marketing it deserved and the game suffered as a result. I don't see Insomniac risking making another one unless MS paid them MASS...

If Microsoft were really smart, they'd take a look at all those studios that EA has murdered over the years and hire those guys to make new IPs for them. Imagine the people who worked on Dead Space, Kingdoms of Amalur, Crusader, Wing Commander and Syndicate making new games for Microsoft. I'd TOTALLY buy an XB1 for that.

REPLIED FOR TRUTH. What the hell is Microsoft doing with Mojang? They've been sitting on them doing jack squat!

Dude, I'm a Playstation fan, and I'll be the first to admit that the 360 was the clear-cut winner of that console generation. How the hell would it lose billions? A product that lost a company billions of dollars would be rid of with the quickness.

So the XB1 can be saved by franchises they don't own and that can be released multiplatform, and of which a couple of them are Japanese. Suuuuuure. All the Japanese games there will by default make it to the PS4 and probably the Switch too, and will undoubtedly sell better there both domestically and overseas. Not to mention that the chance of all of those franchises even coming out in the first place are slim to none. Streets of Rage remake? Sega already has a beat-em-up franchise doing ...

How was the PS4 ever an underdog? Sony won this console generstion on the E3 where both the PS4 and XB1 were unveiled. The moment Sony declared the system was cheaper, had more powerful hardware than the XB1, that discs could be traded and that it had no need for always online, it torpedoed the XB1 and it never recovered. It was like the very first E3 when they killed the Saturn from the get-go.

Thank you for the updated info on this piece of news. Too many peoplr are having a knee-jerk reaction to it, when it's just news about a patent, not a statement of intent. Sony beat Microsoft from day 1 by not forcing DRM on disced software, the wouldn't backtrack on it.

No, no, no, no and no. Microsoft wouldn't know the first thing to do with the sustem, so you'd end up with a console composed of shovelware and budget titles. As for Sony, the anemic support of the Vita (which, objectively' is a GREAT system) doesn't bode well for how they'd handle a hybrid system like the Switch. Let's face the fact, Nintendo has a well-earned stranglehold on the portable market, rhey simply are the best at it. The reason why the WiiU failed so specta...
