... and there's a reason they brought it back from the grave
Does this really qualify as 'notoriety'?
I thought MW3 was the notorious one.
Four awards by EA?
I can only imagine their grins.
Also, I'll be expecting lots of articles about Fifa12 beating Uncharted3 for best console game.
Do not disappoint me journalists.
^ You can't throw all technological advances into the same pile.
HD was just an increase in resolution, there weren't any real downsides.
The current 3D-with-glasses model has problems, and the technology hasn't matured to the point of being a big difference maker.
It might improve in the future (3D is relatively old tech), but currently it's not offering much.
I'm missing some proper bolt-action rifles...
... either that, or let me use iron sights on them snipers.
Kind of depends on how Bf3 implements them. (I didn't mind claymores in CoD4 though due to them having a delay)
Due to the more open environments in BF, they aren't as annoying...
Though every now and then you'll be wandering an open field and get killed by a claymore and go 'FUUUUUUUUUUUU-'
+1 for being psychic.

I find it hilarious too.
MW3, the game supposedly hated by most PC players, plastered all over the beloved steam front page.
Concept art is a reason to get excited because it tells you where the game is headed.
The world depicted in those drawings looks interesting, and I'm excited to see what the devs do with the idea.
^ A steamworks game has to be activated on steam (all of valve's games are steamworks titles)
So yes, when you buy Skyrim, it'll be like buying L4D from retail (on PC).
Steamworks means that the game uses a bunch of features that require steam. (i.e. it is dependent on Steam)
Steam itself is just a service/client for digital distribution along with some social features.
"I think at the end of the day we’re going to prove to Electronic Arts they have happier customers, a higher quality service, and will make more money if they have their titles on Steam."
Smart man,
but it's going to be hard to get it through the skulls of the investors at EA though.
Sadly, you need marketing to get respect.
Every PC game should be on steam, but they all shouldn't necessarily be steamworks games.
Requiring steamworks is a hindrance to some people, especially those that don't to be forced to use a DRM.
@Wardog
How did they deduce that the PS3 could be using steamworks too?
Bethesda has been using Steamworks since NewVegas, (recently RAGE was also announced as a steamworks title) but I don't think any of this applies to the PS3.
Valve tried something with Portal2 because it was essentially free marketing for the Steam service on PC.
Bethesda on the other hand, doesn't really have any reason to use steamworks on consoles.
... Bethesda owns iD
... iD made Quake
... What's stopping Bethesda (or rather, ZeniMax) from sending the iD guys to represent them?
...?
MW2 has unofficial dedicated servers and mod-support.
BlackOps has official dedicated servers and mod-support.
MW3 is promising official dedicated servers....
Don't see how this is a big deal.
^ MassEffect arguably trumps it.
Especially considering that only AC2 has had the polished feel.
AC1 had some issues with execution, and Brotherhood showed signs of a rushed game.
RAGE has the edge technically. It's running at twice the frame rate and is more open than Uncharted.
Uncharted has the edge visually.
@Crimson
Doesn't Battlefield3 support eyefinity?
Using split-screen doesn't really have that big of a performance impact because it usually results in a decreased FOV for each view.
The overall resolution stays more or less the same.
What does #of IPs have to do with talent?
DICE has collaborated with other EA devs towards other games.
With the Battlefield franchise, they've shown that they're masters in audio and shooting mechanics, which are two big factors in an FPS game.
Exactly what I was thinking.
