That could be one of the things EA might try to replicate.
Valve does a lot of promotions in which it offers TF2 hats for purchases on steam. (Origin has something similar with BF3's pre-order)
Of course, first they'd actually need to make an F2P game worth playing. BF Heroes is a good start, but they need something that can challenge TF2.
Skyrim with Cloud Support would be awesome for me.
Game's too big, and I like being able to keep my saves while jumping from desktop to lappy.
... at least the roof prevents your excitement from flying off too close to the sun.
... ain't as bad as the adversity towards some other forms of gaming.
PC gaming is just a wildcard that the two main factions praise when it's in their favour, and bash when it isn't.
Also, BF3 isn't really doing much to usher PC gaming forward. It just has the marketing behind it, so they can claim to be doing wondrous things, but in reality it is not all that different from the rest.
... except size has nothing to do with how good or bad a game is.
It's like saying that a 1000-page novel is better than a 500-page one.
"I don't get my hopes up for multiplat FPS anymore."
... and then you list BF3 as the one to look forward to? O.o
BF3 'arguably' offers the least amount of anything new. It's the same generic shooter except with slightly improved destruction and a visual upgrade.
Come on, no-one here really reads articles.
The title will dictate what the stupidity in the comments section will be about.
He criticised the PC as well... and I didn't have to even read the article because it's all from an older interview.
... and that's all it'll be, graphics.
KZ2's slower control-scheme wouldn't really work with KB+M, and KZ3 would just get overshadowed by the other PC-centric MP FPS'
If you really want visuals, Uncharted would be the better choice.
LPB is about the only game on that list that I'd like on the PC... or well, the creation tools part at least.
... don't all engines ultimately suffer from the plastic/play-doh effect?
It's not something unique to the unreal engine.
The reason you think UE games suffer from it is because a lot of games use the Unreal engine.
Otherwise, I've noticed the same issue in a lot of non-unreal games as well.
It's just a side-effect of higher poly models, simple textures, and modern shading techniques.
... because it isn't always the case.
... that, and it's easy to take a quote and put it in title to get hits.
PCG was just describing some of the differences between the console and PC versions. Unsurprisingly, textures came up. That's all there is to it.
Looks a bit better than the PC version... especially the lighting.
Battlefield is also a respected series, it also didn't have a retail release with 1943.
It's a multiplayer game, so it would be assumed that the target audience has a reliable internet connection...
... that, and Valve likes to update their games. A lot.
So even if it was offered retail, if you bought it later, you'd have to put in the disk then wait half an hour for all the updates to come through. =/
The SPUF isn't any better either.
Valve might get praised everywhere on the internet, but ironically, it doesn't get much praise in its own forums.
^ Why does the engine matter?
It looks decent and runs at 60fps, what deficiency does the current engine have to warrant a new one?
There's so many great games that use the Unreal engine, and all of Valve's recent games have been using the Source engine as well.
Not that I'm aware of.
They said that if you can run BC2, then BF3 should run too.
The alpha was a bit unoptimized (had no real graphics settings), hopefully the beta and retail games are more optimized.
... the alpha still ran better than BlOps did on launch though. =/
... That list makes no sense whatsoever.
1. It's an FPS
- Alright, it's a generic military shooter.
2. It's made for PC
- Eh? PC version has its benefits, but how is that a reason to skip the game. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a supercomputer to run the game.
3. ModernWarfare3
- Doesn't this game suffer from being a generic military-shooter too? For that matter, BC2 runs and looks bett...
I've really liked the music they've used in the trailer so far.
(Especially the vocal/orchestral bit near the end)
... they're still using idTech4?
Dag nabbit, I was hoping they'd use tech5. =(
^ ...then how will you have the time to play games?
