The Boss is there but Snake isn't?
I didn't like the list that much. =/
Well... that, and assassinations just aren't quite as fun when you have scoped long-range weaponry at your disposal.
... Although the Hitman series does manage to make it work. =/
I dunno. I actually like halo since it takes more than one-burst to take someone down. You need some consistent aiming instead of the typical point-n-click one-shots that seem to be getting more and more popular.
It reminded me of Quake and UT... which had a form of gameplay I enjoyed, fast-paced with large amounts of health.
Obvious troll was obvious though. =/
... but games are becoming more of an obsession than a hobby. There's atleast some language development in reading a book, whereas the only thing I can say I've learnt from recent games is how to fake various accents.
More and more games are incorporating RPG elements. Consider Call of Duty as an example, if everyone's ranks got reset, then the general complaint would be, "but I worked so hard for all my gear". It's labeled as work, not play.
...
Totally agree.
Half-life2 has some of the best pacing I've ever experienced.
As soon as a set-piece starts getting stale, the game changes. It's... quite beautiful.
I felt BO's gameplay was on fast-forward. There'd be some cool sequences (such as the stealth) but they'd finish as abruptly as they begin. Or maybe it was intential since most of it was memmories, and no-one really remembers down-time.
MoH, perhaps... but BC2's story was aweful. =/
... IW made MW2 didn't they?
Anyways, I saw the twist coming midway in the game. It made the game quite creepy... whilst at the same time interesting because I wanted to know what exactly was going on.
The start of the story was mediocre, but things got intriguing after playing as Reznov.
Pacing was way too fast though... wish they added some downtime element in-between.
Thats what mostly puts me off from the multi-monitor setup.
Its useful for multi-tasking or doing some actual work... but it seems like the borders would kill the immersion.
Though from what some people have told me, you just focus on the center screen and the borders won't be noticeable.
Yup. That's what I did.
... and made it past the level.
Had no clue there even were any barrels.
Well, huge and it's a different niche.
Racings fans are not likely to be swayed by FPS/RPG/FPS-RPG-hybrid/gimmick s.
Is that what that meant?
Fancy wording had me thinking that many subscriptions were just by people wanting to play Activision games.
i.e. "Enjoy" meaning to receive the customers as opposed to the fees
Guess the line does make more sense if it meant the fees.
Ah well, good eye, sir. =)
Hmm, but does microsoft make much of a profit from Live? (not a rhetorical question, I actually don't know)
It would seem good business ethic to give the developper of the game a small slice of the pie depending on popularity.
Then again, neither Microsoft nor Activision are known for good business ethics.
Yup.
You can expect most of the comments to be just reactions from reading the headline.
=/
TF2 has micro-transactions and you have to buy them game.
How's that for mind-blowing!
I buy games for the game. I don't care what big menacing corporation is behind it. If they're greedy then I won't be surprised... most business dealing you do in your daily lives is all with "greedy" people.
From Banks and Gas stations to your own employer, all of them are greedy and all of them will try to screw you over while pretending to be doing you a favour. That's life.
As video gaming becomes a popular industry, you can expec...
Ballistic knives are actual weapons.
I remember first seeing Olga using it in MGS2... looked cool at first, then it got cooler when I learnt it was something real.
... and unfortunately, other games are trying to copy it too.
Its interesting how the AI in FPS games hasn't changed much since the original Half-Life.
Don't get why you have to drag Forza into the mix when the Dirt/GRid series have been doing decent damage models.
... and they're not even exact simulations either. =/
"generic FPS"? All FP-shooters being released fit the generic mold.
Atleast crysis gave some freedom to the player instead of holding their hand down a linear path.
Now that they can't hide behind that freedom due to restrictive hardware, lets see what they will do.
PCs always get dedicated servers (well, except for MW2 and it raged the PC community). It's mostly expected for a PC game to have dedicated servers.
Consoles however, generally are P2P, with Dedicated servers appearing in a few games.
So it isn't exactly a business move. They just did what normally happens.
... that and cutting a deal with gameservers probably earned them some benefits. (Since the majority of them are rented by individuals)
