@Neko
Blu-ray is just a storage media. Carmack is talking about development and more specifically the architecture.
i.e. How the processor handles and accesses memmory, performs tasks, etc.
@Joerc
From my knowledge, those hybrid cores won't really be replacing discrete GPUs. They have a bigger application in non-gaming areas (or well, portable gaming too... not for heavy-weight gaming in any case).
I could be wrong.
Portal's SP was shorter than 5 hours, and I'd give it a 9.5.
Though yea, Homefront is more of an 8, give or take a point.
EDIT: Well, I didn't know price factored in a review? A game should be judged on its quality. Then you, the consumer, have to decide whether it is worth the asking price or if you should wait for a price drop.
Since yer looking for a response.
Taking an unnecessarily difficult road isn't the best way to go either. PS3's architecture isn't the future, it's just a different way of doing things.
Hence the disagrees with your comment. Devs won't be "left in the dust" because the future most likely won't be using the PS3's architecture.
As far as the GOW maker is concerned, most of what he learned while working with the PS3 ...
Wow, you're just taking your ignorance to a new level with that comment.
This game is made by Splash Damage. Look it up and educate yourself.
Depends on how well it does financially.
Definitely pumped for this.
TeamFortress can only satiate my EnemyTerritory-craving for so long.
Yup. The name Carmack is synonymous with lazyness and half-assedry.
=)
(Obvious sarcasm is obvious, right?)
Tell them to leg it.
My popcorns getting cold. =(
Actually, he's the VP of Bosses.
EDIT: =)
^ Which is what eventually killed my interest in Crysis2.
Started out fun... then learned about hologram. Had some lulz. Then learned about nanovision. Had more lulz.
Then realized I spent more than half my time in nano vision, and the only reason to not use it was to enjoy the graphics, otherwise, it was just easy mode.
Maybe if I played more, I might've learned about something to counter nanovision whores (Holograms might work... but not when th...
You got beef with their name?
If you want to deprive yourself of good games, then go ahead.
If you can find solace in the fact that someone giving a game a B- somehow means it is trash, then more power to you.
Looks better... but... it looks slightly better than most free-to-play FPS games (ex: AVA)
Not exactly a game you'd be showing off to anyone.
Performance also seems to be a bit shoddy, especially considering its the Unreal engine? I got better performance in Crysis2's demo than HF's MP.
Hopefully it'll be patched (newer drivers might also help)
How many game modes did Battlefield have again?
Distinct game-modes, instead of copies that just limit the number of players.
I think the difference is that BlackOps is part of the CoD series. A sequel is expected to be an improvement (however slight it may be)
When a new IP tries to act like a sequel, then it gets knocked down because it is expected that the game will do something different instead of trying to act as a sequel to some other game.
That, and visuals also go a long way. Make a game look pretty, and it'll usually get more favours because it gives a better vibe.
Gotta love steam. Pre-loaded and just unlocked. =)
The same could be said of Kojima.
Except well... he doesn't show up in the news as often. =/
Not that far from IGN's 6.5...
Especially considering that being a software based company, Microsoft had a lot of business japanese partners (including Sony)
It isn't that impressive visually, but the actual gameplay is fun.
... Snipers are a bane on PC though.
No sway and hitscan + high-precision mouse = bodies hit the floor.
