Well, what some FPS games do is drag on a scenario to extend game-play time... such as having long continuous corridors with endlessly spawning enemies.
With Homefront, although I am disappointed that the campaign is too short, I'm still grateful they didn't go for the cheap tricks and went with 4~5 hours of packed quality instead of diluting it over 10 hours.
... and I hope they keep the tradition with a sequel.
Brink.
Anyways, as far as retail goes.. doesn't CoD dominate all? O.o
So? O.o
It's not uncommon for a sequel to be in the design phase while the first game releases.
^ I don't think anyone is using this to proclaim the 360's superiority or anything. Or maybe they're doing it stealthilyishlyish-whatever. x.x
Not much to brag about as far as a console goes when the hardware can be hooked to a PC with relative ease.
It's just showing an interesting application of kinect. If it can be used in a medical setting, great.
The game on its own is good.
It's just that that the previews were giving the impression that it would be a quality SP experience... and that's what hurts. There was just so much more potential and they could've done a lot more for the SP.
They're a publisher.
Company of Heroes, Warhammer, Metro, RedFaction and SaintsRow are all great series.
As for the tech issues. Sadly, that's a common problem most games face on release nowadays.
Who wants to know my steam password?
snowball effect
The reviews are all over the place.
=/
Edit: Well, I've already played/finished it. Just interesting how there's a divide in opinions. I'd give it somewhere between a 7~8 depending on if a few issues get patched.
... My steam account has around $1000 worth of games.
I paid less than $500 for them all.
Those games will still be playable 5 years from now. A console however, can screw you over by removing backwards compatibility. I don't pay $40 for remakes.
I also have more games than I have time... and my backlog just gets bigger and bigger as mods for existing games get released.
So, yea. </brag>
Ever played Mercenaries? =p
... What's the article about again?
From what I remember, Homefront depicted a group of Americans as being just as heartless as the koreans (if not more so).
They still played on stereotypes, but meh.
I guess games could use a bit more dynamic story-telling instead of the static we-are-good they-are-bad from start to finish. Doesn't have to be on the same level as MGS where the line is blurred into a weak gradient but maybe not demonize one si...
... How does requiring SteamGuard change anything?
O.o
^ "Derivative" is also an adjective... or at least I think it is.
Anyways, Kaos has made military shooters before, so it isn't exactly a simple case of follow-the-trend. Although THQ probably probably did try to market it since it saw the success of military shooters.
"THQ is a company that is built around making games aimed at the current market and the industry requires the utmost foresight to realize what's going to float and what...
I thought you could play the online but couldn't level up beyond a point? (sort of like Crysis2's Mp demo)
So you get the SP, and can try the MP, if you like it then you can get the pass (if you're buying it second hand ofcourse).
If they're offering dedicated servers, and you can see yourself playing it for some time, then it's not a bad deal.
If Machinima(Respawn) ever stops humping CoD and starts giving other games some decent exposure, then CoD can easily be dethroned.
You could've gotten it from D2D for $40.
I paid $50 to steam to get the TF2 bandana.
Truth be told, I pre-ordered Shogun2 mostly for the TF2 items too. I am a disgrace.
=(
I hope the title screen says "Press the Enter key to continue."
=p
Time to see what crytek's managed to do on the ps3.
As-side from it's length (and wonky performance on PC) I can't really pin much against Homefront.
It might not revolutionize anything, and I probably wouldn't recommend it at the $60 point, but I think once the price drops down, people should give it a try.
Which is why I'm wondering if THQ wants 2M copies sold at $60 or just... 2M copies.
I don't know where exactly they spent all that money... was it the awesome trailers? O.o
What's with games these days having those annoying "Press X to skip" prompts over the cutscenes?
O.o
