I'm so looking forward to this and I'm glad I've waited to get the PC version. Everytime I thought about picking it up another rumor would come out that it was coming to the PS3. October seems like a good time frame to release as well since Resistance drops in Nov. and Killzone has been pushed into '09.
"DD - Ah, I think you and I are twins. If my wife is getting sleepy at nine I say, oh too bad honey you must have had a hard day... but I'm think get your a$$ to bad so I can start playin' :P "
LOL @King
Man that sounds like me before my wife started to not care as much. She's always going to bed early, but I can't tell you how many times I be sitting there just waiting and waiting for her to go to bed.
Thanks tordavis, nice article. Couldn't agree with you more. Just hope games evolve as they become more mainstream and articles like yours will hopefully open some eyes where they need to be opened.
Agree with gaffyh. Controls are rather complicated. They do use a lot of the same controls as the MGS, but it seems to overly complicate SOME (not all) things.
They will need to tweak the turn speed because even maxing it out at 10 isn't quick enough for me.
Graphically it looks good, nothing spectacular, but solidly good. No framerate drops, no pop-ins, ran smooth.
Aiming is a easy, but accuracy/distance is something I will have to get used to ...
Anybody in NA playing this yet? I just tried to log in, but kept getting the server error message. Are you guys all in the EU or am I just the one screwed guy?!?
EDIT: Fishy (1.3) you are right and even most demos come with the disclaimer that they are by no means the final product and are not to be judged as such.
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm in now and it's working fine...
Part of that has happened to me, but not the buying a highly anticipated game only to leave it in the wrapper for weeks. Can't tell you how many times I've gone back to a game and couldn't remember what the hell I was doing. Tactics on the PSP comes to mind right now. It's gotten to the point where I might just have to start over and I've got 36 hours on the save file... :(
Crap Kingme71, here I was telling myself that I don't fall into this category, but after I read your post I had to rethink who the hell I am nowadays. Although I play every day, I usually wait until my wife has disappeared upstairs to bed. I enjoy online, but not like I would've if I was 10 years younger. Born in the 70's? Yeah, can you tell? I used to believe there was a (kind of) golden age in gaming, but now I really think that gaming has never been better and continues to improve.
@ciid
I might just be reading your post wrong, but are you kidding?!? The older shots are on the left side of the comparisons. If you truly think it's the opposite I suggest you go find the old video (last one released before yesterday's Japanese version) and watch closely. The shots running down the right side are what was taken from yesterday's vid and clearly have much more detail than before. Just go back and look at the shot comparing Otacon in the graveyard in front o...
Nothing like getting your gaming news from Forbes. You would think a magazine based in facts like "numbers" would have done a little better job of finding the pulse of the gaming community.
Even if I only enjoyed playing on a 360, I would never describe the current situation as MS having Sony (or Nintendo) on the ropes in the US. Especially after being outsold this year and over the life of the PS3 worldwide since launch.
The ironic part of this a...
You can add two more to the list with a couple of my friends who rode out the 360 until multiple deaths caused small uprisings in their homes. Both now own PS3's instead.
Edit: @jwatt, thanks for the nice vid.
Quartermann is only a couple steps above surfer girl, snow shovel dude and my idiot friend who still plays with his Gamecube.
IOW, most of his drivel is rehashed from before or is so far down the line that it's difficult to really keep track of his accuracy. Oh, but don't worry, cause dude will let you know (REPEATEDLY) when he gets something right once in awhile. I bet his cube mate has to constantly remind him not to break his arm patting himself on the back.
Welcome to the party. This is another old rumor/story about the natural evolution of GTA to MMO. Hell, it was mentioned in EGM a couple issues back (among other places).
This was rumored a few months back that Sony had pulled the funding because the game was shiite. Not surprising that it would go multi-plat if they continued development. It's not like R* are the actual devs on it, they are just publishing it. Who the hell knows if this is something major or not anyhow. All we've seen are a couple of early rendered screens that show nothing. And it's supposed to drop in '09?
Bloom sucks when overused and usually it's a crutch for dev's who have something to hide.
@fenderputty
Gamecrazy here in CO still had a bunch of beta copies. If you can track someplace down that still has copies there really isn't any reason why you couldn't still get in. Better hurry though, cause now you've got two patches to d/l...
I'm so happy they fixed Meryl's hair, it was bugging the sh!t outta me the way it was sticking out stiffly straight back.
That was a nice montage of "before and after" comparisons. I thought I noticed a difference, but I was too busy staring and waiting to see some new footage. Nothing really until the end.
Owned since Dec '06 and I've got 20 BD games and 11 (bought) downloadable games. I'm real lucky because my buddy owns a Blockbuster so I can borrow games pretty much whenever I want. I just buy the games that I know I want to own.
Just finished Viking (borrowed) a couple days ago and it's definitey worth a look. I don't think I would have been overly excited about paying $60 for it, but getting it used or bargain bin down the road is highly recommended.
Why does dude's face always look the same in every shot I've ever seen? If he's grinding on a girl, it's the same. If he's sitting at the blackjack table, it's the same. If he's fighting some dude in a casino, it's the same.
I've got no expectations for this game whatsoever...
It's funny how EA gets killed for "being in it for the money" by releasing everything multi-plat, but what's the difference between them and Take Two (for example) who took money from MS to make Bioshock "exclusive" for a year? Take Two obviously intended, from the beginning, to make the game for the PS3, but no one gives them
sh!t by taking MS's money while still developing it for PS3.
The era of third party exclusivity isn't dead and probably never...
