I'm thinking about making the jump to Onlive this week, as an option at least. They're having a sale on the TV console w/controller and a free game for $66 bucks till Sunday. Pretty good deal imo :-)
At the moment I'm thinking Onlive will be my way of playing PC games that otherwise wouldn't see release on consoles. That, and I would love to finally play Crysis 1 as my computer isn't fast enough to play it. I wonder when Crysis 1 will be made available on ...
I think you could make a case that digital distribution is here to stay. Just look at the success of downloadable games on xbla and psn...or better yet, Steam. I think people would be willing to part with physical media for a price. If games are cheap enough its not a huge loss when you can't trade or sell them. Just look at Steam. I have about 30 titles I've accumulated during their holiday sales promotions. None of them are more than $15 and many of them are impulse buys. $5 for Tea...
I agree. PC gaming is pretty much going the way of digital distribution. Steam is very successful and OnLive's success will further cement the death of physical media on PCs. Consoles...not yet. I think there is a whole new generation of consoles before everything is purchased sans discs. Also, I would hope Xbox Live and Playstation Network still exist in cloud form. I would hate to lose all of my trophies and achievements!
The PSPGO's failure has less to do with it losing discs and more to do with digital distribution fail. I had a PSPGO and ended up selling on account I had to wait for games to be offered via the PSN store...if they were made available at all.
Also, arguably the PSP market was saturated at the time the PSP Go was released. Everyone that had one, had a bunch of games they couldn't play on a PSP Go if they wanted to. Add in the high cost of the Go and you have the true ...
I think we both posted in the wrong article :-p

I also had an Intercooler on an older 360. One day I was playing when I started to smell plastic burning. Around the base of the Intercooler was melted plastic. I don't know if that has something to do with the design, or a product flaw with the plastic, but I stopped using it afterwards. I should note, that it was attached to a launch 360, but nonetheless I was put off buying future revisions based on product feedback.
The first generation mod...
Everyone has an opinion and no, you don't have to agree with it :-)
Personally, 6.5 seems a little harsh as well. They gave Gran Turismo 5 Prologue a 7.5. Considering how much content is in GT5 and all the improvements that went into it, you would think they would have scored it higher.
I plan on picking up GT5 when it drops in price a little bit. I'm not the biggest racing fan and Mario Kart/Wipeout/arcade racers are usually what I play in the genre....
It looks hideous. Nyko Intercooler is a scam product that only blocks vents that should be open on the 360. Arguably its responsible for a good number of older 360's dying in the first place. The 360 S has an auto off feature to keep it from overheating in the first place. If you want a 360 that doesn't get hot at all, its better to mod it with a liquid cooling system. Some of the mods at least look nice.
Am I the only one that thinks paying $4- $10 for streaming music is too much? If you want unlimited music streaming there are better (music) options in MOG, Spotify, and Rhapsody. They allow you to download as much music as you want ala cart and have access to it via phone/mp3 and pc so long as your a paying subscriber. Sure, they don't have PS3 integration, however they allow you to download individual tracks and albums. Streaming music is the equivalent of what Pandora and Last fm have ...
Exactly my predicament and future purchasing plan :-)
I can't seem to get into PC gaming. Steam has excellent sales over the holiday's and I always buy up the best of them. I have Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead 2, Torchlight, BG &E, the Witcher, etc, etc and I can't find the ambition to complete them. Mouse and keyboard may be superior for a variety of games, but the "console experience" with controller, couch and TV are a must. Also, having to ins...
I don't disagree that the multiplayer (Gears 2) has/had problems, however I'm a little concerned by your amusement with a games Metacritic rating. You take the time to post reviewers comments and ratings? Makes you smile? Thats odd. Have you played Gears 2 lately? Gears 2 is largely a great game with a strong following even still. It just took a while to get to the state its in now. Kind of like (cough) MAG or SOCOM. Both of those games are much better as a result of updates, same wit...
Pretty weak list imo. Save your money for the onslaught of games coming out this winter.
In Dragon Age your "forced" to have homosexual relations with Zevran or create a female character if you want the "getting with everyone" (or whatever its called) trophy/ achievement.
My point is moot on account you need to "do" Alistar as well and he is straight. You would need to create a female avatar regardless. Just saying...:-p lol
It would be difficult not to have a choice and so I support the option to choose ones sexuali...
:-) The first couple of times I played the game were especially scary experiences. Its worth the soiled pants though, lol.
I feel sort of desensitized to the horror now as I know what to expect, haha. Its a great action/survival game and quite difficult on impossible. I guess thats why I come back to it. Also, the atmosphere of the game is convincing and the science fiction/story pretty good. I promise I don't work for EA :-p
@ Neo Nugget
I'm not sure it was designed for psp go in particular, but digital distribution through PSN, yes.
Regardless, I think Angry Birds is one game that is better on a touch screen.
On on some what unrelated note, I hope the PSP phone supports all PSP games, PS originals and minis. That would be pretty awesome :-p
The laptop isn't too bad for light gaming. You should be able to play a good number of games on medium to medium low settings if they're within a year or two old. Valve games should run especially well as they have lower recommended system specs. Team Fortress 2, Left for Dead 1/2, Half Life etc, run well on my laptop and I have a weaker GPU and CPU than your lappy.
You might want to consider upgrading your ram to 4 GB. RAM is pretty important, and 3 GB might not cut ...
I didn't read your comment until after I posted. I listed the same games, except one, that offer great value as single player games :-p You should give Dead Space a try.
I would argue no.
I have played through Dead Space 4 times on PS3 and got the platinum. Afterwards I sold it, regretted it, and am working on 100% on the 360 version, with 18 hours already played.
Value is subjective. Some games really appeal to your taste as a gamer. Just because a game lacks multiplayer doesn't mean it doesn't have any re playability. Also, lets not forget games like Oblivion and Fallout. I easily put 150 hours + into that game. Or ...
Saw your avatar and thought, "Super Meat Boy on the PSP would be awesome." lol :-)
I also wish Angry Birds wasn't a mini. That means, not too much additional work is being put into the port. I would have appreciated trophies and move support...and would pay more.
If you have a 360 only, there are plenty of games to choose from. Anyone that doesn't think so is blind, dazed, confused...or a fanboy.
Sure, the 360 may have fewer exclusives on average, but then again, how many times did a PS3 exclusive get pushed to the next year? Year to year, the PS3 doesn't have "too" many more exclusives (1-2).
Granted, if you want exclusives on both platforms, its good to have both :-)
