At least Deus Ex wasn't outsold by crap like Zumba Fitness!

The initial spike in sales is expected, yes. The true test will be over the next several months and if PS3 can hold onto that momentum.

Why can't they ever give out actual numbers? Annoying. Anyway, I do think they'll have a pretty damn good holiday.

If it gets decent reviews, that plus the power of big marketing could push it over the top.

Holy cow! It better be worth it! Well, even if it flops, at least Rockstar has GTA V to fall back on.

OnLive may or may not be the dominant player when it's all said and done, but I agree that games are going in the online, on-demand service direction. GameStop will no longer matter.

Huh? Clearly you didn't read the article. It's David Cole of DFC Intelligence, which is a very credible research firm that does market forecasts on a global scale for the games industry. This is DFC's site: http://www.dfcint.com

Sadly most N4Gers just look at headlines and don't read articles before commenting.

Yeah, this is correct. Presumably if you extrapolate that, what he's saying is if PS3 actually had the larger installed base than 360 then PS3 actually would be selling more copies of multi platform games because it sells at a better ratio.

Wow. First of all, I'm a little surprised they'd categorize a hardware lead like that, but those software sales comparisons in the article are quite interesting. That is, quite frankly, where having Blu-ray does actually help - leaves space for lots of extra content or whole games like Battlefield 1943 being included in BF3.

I wouldn't be surprised to see EA charge for something on Battlelog in the future.

How could you have seen last week's sales? You have access to NPD?

5277d ago 13 agree10 disagreeView comment

Well these are just estimates, but if it's close to accurate it's somewhat surprising to me. Although, Sony only had half the month to enjoy the sales spike for the PS3 price cut. Maybe September will be a better indicator.

5277d ago 7 agree7 disagreeView comment

Eh, I dunno. Sony really screwed up big time. And yeah they should have acted to apologize and inform customers more quickly. In the case of Deus Ex, Square Enix may or may not have included a character with racist overtones; it's debatable and a lot of people are making a bigger deal out of it than it deserves I think.

What's amazing after reading that piece is just how much he really went on the offensive to attack MS. I'm stunned.

5281d ago 13 agree47 disagreeView comment

True enough. If you're going to buy all the DLC then you might as well just do Elite.

In terms of sales, it is being held back. That's the nature of a game that's exclusive to just one platform. If Epic could sell Gears to both 360 and PS3 owners, that would up the sales total a lot.

5282d ago 2 agree7 disagreeView comment

I don't think it's going to happen, but if Gears could come to PS3 and be a real multi platform title, Epic would sell waaay more copies.

5282d ago 5 agree8 disagreeView comment

MS has more cash to spend, so you're probably right that they can do more advertising when they end up cutting price.

5283d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

Good point. I haven't seen the commercials "PS3 now 249" or whatever.
