We'll see how 3DS bounces back this holiday, but yeah it's critical that Wii U get off to a flying start or they might return to their GameCube like days of being irrelevant.
I'm not so sure people will want to pay $249 for Vita either. I think 3DS definitely put itself in a much better spot now with the cheaper price.
Sales are still doing better than 360 worldwide though, but yeah Sony can't afford to keep taking losses.
Regardless of what Bilson says, I think Saints Row absolutely is hurt by the abundance of other AAA games this fall like Gears 3, MW3, Uncharted, Skyrim, etc.
I agree. No reason all the people who worked on a game shouldn't be mentioned in the credits. That whole LA Noire situation was terrible.
I still have my original "fat" PS3 too. Swapped out the 60GB HDD for a 250GB a couple years ago.
True, having MS and Sony go at it should produce better games in the end for consumers.
That was some report that looked strictly at "active" in use PS3s vs 360s. It wasn't a literal figure for installed base.
The 10% is based on numbers. Sony has been tracking ahead of Microsoft by 10% in console sales globally in 2011. Sony is catching up despite big momentum in North America for 360.
I don't think I'd like Gears as FPS. Part of what makes it special to me is the third-person over the shoulder view on the character and battles.
Woot! Bring on more Unreal Tournament!
I think the App Store fear is legitimate in the long run, but I doubt it'll hurt Gears 3 much this holiday.
Wow, not bad at all. Sony has some work to do.
I hope Activision doesn't buy them, that would screw over their games in no time.
He's right. I played Uncharted and some other demos at E3. Vita's definitely a good portable and $249 is not bad at all for the amount of tech thrown in there.
I bet it will land on Wii U.
I don't think it's a stretch at all, especially for Zelda since the Wii's installed base is massive.
Yeah that's the challenge Nintendo is facing. They want the core back, but if they price too high they'll lose a lot of the casuals they got with the Wii
I'd be shocked if Wii U came out at $399 but I wouldn't be shocked at all if it ended up being $299.
I think the difference this time though is the games industry is very, very different than it was in the N64 or GameCube days. If Wii U sold very poorly, Nintendo would be in bad shape. Content is king, however, and they could become a hugely successful third party. Heck, they might even finally support phones and Facebook then. Their IP could be all over the place.
