Normally things like this start when i am on the journey home from work, so i would guess probably between 3-5pm BST

Just because you have "not used tv speakers since I was a kid." Does not mean there are millions of Adults and kids, that still use TV speakers, and to assume that on the part of Sony would be a mistake.

Seeing as there is no E3 this year, your damn right 3rd party want to show off their games. Why would they do their own live show, when they can just let the manufacturers show the gameplay.
So yes, they can ask 3rd party to showcase the console, and any developer that refuses would be classed as insane.
I know, the 7th gameplay reveal is 3rd party games.
